Fourth Sunday in Lent Immanuel Lutheran Church March 31, :30 a.m. Divine Service Ringing of the Bell Please return to your seats as we prepare to worship Prelude Canzona Ch. 194 Giovanni Gabrieli arr. Chris Winston Welcome and Greeting We remain standing and face the Processional Cross Opening Hymn My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less LSB 575
Confession and Absolution LSB 184 P: In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. P: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord, C: Who made heaven and earth. P: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, C: And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Silence for reflection on God s Word and for self-examination. P: O almighty God, merciful Father, C: I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. P: Upon this your confession, I, by virtue of my office, as a called and ordained servant of the Word, announce the grace of God unto all of you, and in the stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. Kyrie LSB 186
Salutation and Collect of the Day P: Let us pray. Almighty God, our heavenly Father, Your mercies are new every morning; and though we deserve only punishment, You receive us as Your children and provide for all our needs of body and soul. Grant that we may heartily acknowledge Your merciful goodness, give thanks for all Your benefits, and serve You in willing obedience; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. Please be seated The Old Testament Reading Isaiah 12:1-6 A: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Psalm Psalm 32; ant. v. 11 A: Blessèd is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. C: Blessèd is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. A: For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. C: For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. A: I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
C: Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. A: You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. C: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. A: Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. C: Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD. A: Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart! C: Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. The Epistle 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 A: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Please stand P: The Holy Gospel according St. Luke, the 15 th chapter. C: Holy Gospel Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

Grace and peace from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. I apologize for my delay in writing. Things on this end have been incredibly busy, but I am thankful for your continued prayers. There is so much to catch up on since the last time I wrote. Following Summer Greek, I took a job at security and was also selected to join the Seminary choir, Laudamus. All of this is in addition to the 4 classes that we take each semester, it all adds up to long nights and lots of time spent in the library. First semester ended back in December and went extremely well. After a quick break at home, I headed back for the second semester which began in January. Since then we have been back on the same schedule as first semester more or less with the exception of new classes. I am most excited about our preaching class that we are taking this year. After I finish this up, I will be able to give sermons. As many of you have no doubt seen, choir tour just ended this week and we will be starting classes again on Monday the 25 th I humbly request your continued prayer for the remainder of the semester. Thank you very much and God s richest blessings, Michael Wilke If you wish to follow Michael s seminary journey, friend him on Facebook.
