1 The Feast of Pentecost Immanuel Lutheran Church June 4, :00 a.m. Divine Service The Risen Lord Jesus Pours Out the Holy Spirit Today we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. We joyfully remember how the Lord took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and put it on the seventy elders of Israel (Num. 11:25), and they prophesied in the camp (Num. 11:26). In the same way, our risen Lord Jesus poured out His Holy Spirit at the Feast of Pentecost the 50 th day and the Eighth Sunday of Easter. When a sound like a mighty rushing wind and tongues as of fire appeared and rested on each of the 12 apostles, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the mighty works of God (Acts 2:2 4, 11). The risen Lord Jesus still pours out the Holy Spirit today, so that we, His Church on earth, may proclaim Him glorified on the cross and risen victorious from the grave. From His open heart, our crucified and risen Lord pours out His Holy Spirit in rivers of living water (John 7:38) and invites everyone who thirsts to come to Him and drink freely (John 7:37). Through this life-giving work of the Holy Spirit, we hear our pastors telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God (Acts 2:11), and rejoice in the Good News that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). 5 Summer WINGS! Youth in grades 7-12, we will meet twice per month over the summer. Join us if you are in town! June 7 & 14, July 12 & 19, August 2 & 9 Bible study and fellowship from 6-8 p.m. Come as early as 4:30 p.m. to hang out if you d like. We ll eat at 5 p.m. Our Bible study focus this summer is prayer. A NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS BEGINNING JUNE 4: Justification and Sanctification, led by Joe Kuhlmann & John Brigham Meet in Multipurpose Room C. COME JOIN THE WOMEN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL GROUP as they start a book club for the summer. On Sunday, June 11 th, we will start with the book Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi. We are an informal group and you are welcome to drop in as you can. The book is available at Barnes and Noble, Mardel, Lifeway, Christianbook.com, and Amazon. Please be aware that there is a book, a study guide and a video, so be careful when ordering. If you don't want to buy/read the book, please feel free to come and participate in the discussions. SUMMER OF JOY The Summer of Joy schedule is as follows: Saturdays in June: Church service at 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary Sundays in June: 8:30 a.m. Coffee & donuts in the gym 9:00 a.m. Sunday School for all ages 9:45 a.m. Coffee & donuts in the gym 10:00 a.m. Church service in the Sanctuary Occasionally, we will follow the 10:00 a.m. Service with various events throughout the summer, so be sure to watch the bulletin for details.

We believe that God will use this incredible program to reach many children with the message of His love, so please prayerfully consider your role in Mighty Fortress Vacation Bible School. WHAT TO EXPECT FOR SATURDAY NIGHT SERVICES In keeping with our "Summer of Joy" theme, we're going to be singing from a list of "Familiar Favorite" hymns, classic praise songs, plus some Southern Gospel and piano-oriented modern worship songs as well. The music will still amplify the readings, but with the accent on joy. This summer we're taking this opportunity to load up on songs people love to sing. We'll be singing more popular favorites on Sunday mornings as well, but the Saturday list will be geared toward songs even small groups can sing together well, led just by the piano. So expect more of an old-school, small town feel at our new Saturday services this summer as we sing for joy to the Lord and celebrate His awesome deeds. 8 COFFEE WITH THE CHURCH STAFF The church staff is inviting the congregation to join them for coffee on the second Wednesday of the month for a time of fellowship throughout the summer. We will have a brief devotion and then lots of laughs. The staff will provide warm coffee and warm hearts. We hope you come out to join us. Join us on Wednesday, June 14 th, at 8:30 a.m., in Luther Hall. YOUTH MINISTRY RUMMAGE SALE The youth will hold a rummage sale on Saturday, July 15 th.
