1 Immanuel Lutheran Church April 22, :30 a.m. Divine Service The Lord Jesus is the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep (John 10:11). His life is not taken from Him, but He lays it down willingly, of His own accord, because He knows and loves the sheep. As the One sent by the Father, He has the authority to lay it down and the authority to take it up again (John 10:18). So has He done, and now He continues to love and serve as the Good Shepherd of the sheep by the voice of His Gospel. He thus calls all people into the fold of His Church, so that there may be one flock, one shepherd (John 10:16). That is why the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead (Acts 4:2). His voice rings out to this day through the preaching of His name. His voice comforts our hearts against all condemnation and gives us courage to love one another and to lay down our lives for the brothers, as He laid down His life for us (1 John 3:16, 23). His voice brings new life in a dying world distracted by voices of despair, deception, and death. We rejoice that you have come into this sanctuary to hear His voice with us. May the Holy Spirit open your heart to hear, that you may receive every blessing our heavenly Father has prepared for you through Jesus Christ, our great Good Shepherd. Prelude Psalm 23 H.W. 8 Mercy Colossians 1:25 Of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known. MERCY MINISTRIES Mercy Ministries provides meals for families who are in need of some loving care. Some of those loving care moments might be after the birth of a child, returning home from a hospital stay, death of a loved one, just because or something else. I have had a personal experience with this, after the birth of our third child and when my mom passed away. We were very thankful for the love showed to our family. If this is somewhere you feel you would like to serve at Immanuel, please sign up.
