3 Most Holy Trinity Sunday Gospel theme EASTER: Dear Friends in Christ, I wrote this letter a couple weeks ago. If all goes well, this weekend I am not in Oviedo, Florida. I am in Oviedo, Spain! Strictly speaking, I m not in Oviedo, Spain. I m about a hundred miles near Oviedo, Spain. I m walking El Camino. No, El Camino not the coolest car you never drove. El Camino is a pilgrim route through Spain that ends in the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. The most popular Camino is the French Way. Martin Sheen made a movie in 2010 about walking The Way. El Camino Frances starts in France. There is more than one Way. The route we are walking is not the French Way. It is the Portuguese Way. The Portuguese route starts in Lisbon, Portugal. Rather than walk hundreds of miles from Lisbon, we are walking only the final week of the Portuguese Way. I m walking with my mother and my father and several other people. We re starting from Tui, a town on the Portugal-Spain border, and walking north to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The walk is about six days and averages 18 kilometers per day. The walk is considered moderate. This section covers the last 100km of the route which is the minimum required to get your Compostela certificate in Santiago. The description continues, It takes you through the friendly region of Galicia in Northern Spain until you reach your final destination, Santiago de Compostela. Following quiet country roads and woodland paths you go through wooded valleys, follow gentle rivers and walk by the coast. Galicia welcomes you with its relaxed pace of life and draws you gradually towards your destination, the glorious Santiago de Compostela. All Caminos end in Santiago de Compostela. According to tradition, the bones of St. James the Apostle are buried in its Cathedral. For a thousand years, pilgrims have walked hundreds of miles to honor St. James and worship the Lord. Along the way, we pray the rosary, visit with one another, and no doubt meet other pilgrims. It is a walking retreat. And I get to practice my Castilian Spanish! You are in my prayers this week of my Camino. I pray that the Lord walks with you. I pray that this summer you find several days to retreat with the Lord, enjoying his company in a special way, and simply walking with him. I will be back next weekend, June 7, with stories and blisters! Buen Camino! Father David Join Bishop John Noonan for the Corpus Christi Procession, June 7 Bishop John Noonan invites you to the Diocese of Orlando's annual Corpus Christi procession on June 7, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Join Catholics from across the Diocese of Orlando to publicly express our belief in Jesus Christ, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Bishop Noonan will lead the procession at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe (8300 Vineland Ave. in Orlando) following the 6PM Mass, as participants pray, sing, and reflect on the Mystery of the Most Holy Eucharist. This will be a joyous celebration that will unite our Catholic community as we publicly express our faith in the Eucharist, the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the Eucharist, our Holy God draws close to us. For more information visit: www. orlandodiocese.org/corpuschristi 2

5 Most Holy Trinity Sunday EVANGELIZATION Catholicism 101 Join us for the next installment of Catholicism 101 with Fr. Dom, as he presents an evening of discussion on God s Plan for Marriage. The evening will include a theological presentation and a Q & A session. The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole life and which is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring, has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament between the baptized. (Canon 1055, 1) WHAT: God s Plan for Marriage WHEN: Tuesday June 2nd, 7-9pm WHERE: Most Precious Blood Parish Life Center It's FREE - Symbolon Symbolon is adult formation for every parishioner using modern technology. The Symbolon series consists of 20 short video teachings on various topics of the Catholic faith. Free to Most Precious Blood parishioners, Symbolon can be downloaded on any laptop, tablet, or smartphone and accessed at any time, for your convenience, 24/7! Go to our website and click on the Symbolon icon to register. It s FREE, what are you waiting for? Come & See Have you been coming to Mass but are not Catholic? Are you searching for answers to your faith questions and long for a closer relationship with God? If so, we invite you to look deeper into the Catholic faith. Join us as we plant the seeds of faith and explore the richness and traditions of Catholicism. Inquiry sessions for the Christian Initiation process (RCIA) have started. These gatherings are for inquirers who are not baptized, as well as those who are baptized in another faith background, or baptized Catholics who have not received any other Sacraments. We invite you to ask questions of what Catholics believe in an open, informal and welcoming environment. Come and See Contact Donna Scimeca at x121 or dscimeca@ oviedocatholic.org. When a Loved One Leaves the Church Pray, then pray some more! As Catholics, we know that everything starts with prayer. By praying we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, who guides us in all our actions, including how we interact with our fallen-away family members. What exactly should we pray for? Obviously, we ask that our loved ones might return to the Church, but more specifically, pray that the Lord might bring faithful Catholics into their lives. Pray for opportunities to share the Catholic Faith in ways that are attractive. Ask to be given the right words to say whenever the Church is discussed. When we ask for these things, we will be amazed at how often God answers our specific prayers in ways we never thought possible.
