1 WELCOME TO ST. PAUL EPISCOPAL CHURCH WELCOME. In the name of Christ, we offer you welcome to this church. May those who sorrow, find comfort; the weary, rest; the troubled, peace; the stranger, friends; the unhappy, joy; and to all, the sense of God s presence in this Holy Place. If you are new to this parish community, please give your name and phone number to the Rector or sign our guest register on the stand in the back of the Church. As our honored guest, we want to welcome you. THE SERVICE. There are two main books used for our service; the smaller red book is the Book of Common Prayer and the larger blue book is the Hymnal. There is also a Gray Hymnal. They can be found in the bookrack on the back of the pew in front of you. A Bible can be found at the ends of the pew. The page / hymn numbers in the service bulletin help you find your place in these service books. We invite you to participate fully in our worship. RECEIVING COMMUNION. Holy Communion in the Episcopal Church is open to all who are comfortable participating in the Communion of the Lord s Table. To receive communion come to the altar rail; kneel or stand with one hand cupped on top of the other hand to receive the consecrated bread. Please take the chalice and drink from it; or you may intinct the bread by dipping it in the consecrated wine. Parents are encouraged to determine when a child is ready to receive communion. All children are invited to the altar rail to receive communion or a blessing. Please feel comfortable doing what is best for you and your child. All Saints Sunday November 6, :00 A.M. CHRISTIAN FORMATION Sunday School: Sunday School is for young people ages 4 through 3 rd grade. It begins at 8:50 on Sunday mornings and continues through the Prayers of the People of the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharist. The children will then come into church for the rest of the service. It is held in the Holy Communion Chapel. Jenny Bair and Ericka Sipe work with our young people in this age group. It is the parent s responsibility to ensure that their children receive an education in the faith to pass on to the next generation the Good News of Christ. Monday Night Adult Forum: November 7 BIBLE STUDY WITH THE BISHOP This session will be a study of a passage from Scripture and will include a conversation with the bishop. 11 November 14 ESTATE PLANNING Statistical studies show that 55% of Americans die without a will or estate plan. You re never too old (or too young!) to think about end-of-life preparation. Even if you ve got a will, there may be something for you to learn. Rev. Elizabeth Polanzke ELCA Foundation November 21 HISTORY OF COLUMBIA Most of our residents know about the Burning of the Bridge, but there is much more to our town s history than that. It s almost certain that you will learn something new about the historical residents and architecture of the place where we live. Cindy Weaver Member of St. John Lutheran Church Unofficial town historian OUTREACH MINISTRY Food Donations: You are reminded to bring your food items to church each week so that on the last Sunday of the month we can present them to the Lord for blessing and then give them to our food bank. Whenever you go shopping, please add extra non-perishable items to your order for this parish outreach ministry. Jesus never forgot the last, the lost and the least in his ministry and neither can we. Adult Cereals (less sugar) Peanut Butter Jelly Soups Rice Boxed Potatoes Spaghetti Sauce Anything you can do to help would be deeply appreciated. Food Bank Hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. The Food Bank is closed on holidays. UTO Fall Ingathering: The UTO Fall Ingathering will be held today, Sunday, November 6, In your mailbox you will find a letter from our UTO Chairperson, Bea Warfel, as well as your Blue Box. Please be generous!

12 Free Community Breakfast: In order to help coordinate the generous donations to our Free Community Breakfast on Saturday, November 12, 2016, there is a sign-up sheet in the parish hall on which you can indicate what items and/or time you will donate. This way we will know what needs to be bought. Free Community Dinner: In order to help coordinate the generous donations to our Free Community Dinner on Saturday, November 19, 2019, there is a sign-up sheet in the parish hall on which you can indicate what desserts, beverages, and/or time you will donate. This way we will know what needs to be bought. Toys to Tots: For the 12th year, Saint Paul will participate in the Toys for Tots program. Please bring your unwrapped new toys to the church between Sunday, November 6 and Sunday, December 4 and place them in the Toys for Tots container in front of the pulpit. Last year we collected over 140 toys for children in the Columbia area. Let us make it even better for more children this year. STEWARDSHIP Declaration of Faith Cards: Please return your Declaration of Faith Cards to the box in the back pew. Deadline is Sunday, November 20, ADMINISTRATION Parish Office Hours: The Parish Office hours are: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. The Office is closed on holidays. Use of St. Paul s Facilities: If you are planning to use the Church, Groome Room, Parish Hall, Kitchen or Conference Room, you must reserve with the Parish Office. This will avoid conflicts and the overlapping use of the facilities. Thank you. Help Needed: This past week the pest control company came and treated the facility including the kitchen. As a precaution, we need to wash the warming trays on the wire shelf in the kitchen and the inserts. If you have time this week to come in (anytime Monday Wednesday 8:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m.) that would be very helpful. We will also schedule a day for a crew to clean the kitchen to prepare for our annual health inspection. More details on that later but if you can help wash the warming trays and the inserts that would be very helpful. Thank you for your help. Property Committee Meeting: The next Property Committee Meeting will be held next Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 10:30 p.m. in the Groome Room.
