2 5 T H S U N D AY I N O R D I N A RY T I M E O u r M i s s i o n St. Francis Xavier Parish is a Roman Catholic, Jesuit community of faith called together by God to experience Jesus Christ in His Word, in the sacraments of the Church, and in each other. We, as the body of Christ, joined in Baptism and inspired by the grace of the Holy Spirit, enrich our faith through prayer and worship, spiritual formation, intellectual rigor, diversity of membership, hospitality and fellowship, attention to family life, and concern for social justice. Guided by the spirituality of St. Ignatius Loyola, we strive to use our many gifts for the greater glory of God. Pa r i s h N e w s SFX Needs Your Help - Important The Justice and Life position is critical to our parish's mission. For many years it has been the link to service with our parishioners, neighborhood and the community. The J&L role matches Pope Francis call of servicing others. We have heard from many people in our parish how important rehiring is for the spirit of SFX. To fulfill this rehiring we need our parish to help with our financial future. Can you consider an increase in your offertory gifts to SFX? We recognize that isn't possible for many, however for those with discretionary budgets we ask for your help. Thank you Fr Steve and the SFX Finance Council Fa i t h F o r m at i o n Strong Blessings on Alice Pate (daughter of James and Jennifer Pate) who is baptized Sunday. May she and all our children grow up to love God and neighbor as Christ taught. Bring Your Blessed Palms from last year to Mass next weekend! We will (weather permitting) burn the palms during Children s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday, February 11, and will use the ashes during Ash Wednesday Masses on February 14. Help Your Neighbors In Need Move From Crisis To Thriving Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Fund Second Collection February 17/18 Utility bills are past due and the electricity gets shut off. There s no food in the kitchen. There s no money for basics like soap, shampoo and toothpaste. Each winter, these situations hit our vulnerable neighbors and create barriers to basic life that they cannot overcome alone. When this happens, it feels like hope is lost. Fortunately, thousands of families find Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, and come to us in their moment of crisis. Here, they find help and hope in these emergency situations. Thanks to your support of the Emergency Assistance Fund, we are able to get them through the crisis and back to a sense of stability. Once their immediate needs are met, Catholic Charities walks with families on their personal pathway out of poverty helping sustain them until they are self-sufficient and thriving. You ll find a second collection envelope in your packet for the weekend of February 17/18. Please be generous. Your gift to the Emergency Assistance Fund gives the warmth of hope this winter.
