SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST ST EMILIAN THE CONFESSOR, BISHOP OF CYZICUS Commemorated on August 8 Saint Emilian, Bishop of Cyzikus, lived during the reign of the Iconoclast emperor Leo the Armenian ( ). He was summoned together with other bishops to the court of the emperor, who insistently urged the bishops to refrain from the veneration of holy icons. St Emilian was the first to tell the emperor firmly that the question of the veneration of holy icons ought to be discussed and decided only within the Church by its spiritual leaders, and not at the imperial court. St. Theodosius Ladies Night Out We are planning a Ladies Night Out for all women of St. Theodosius! The plan is to do this quarterly (based on fasting schedules) and rotate from the Westside, Eastside and Southside to give everyone a chance to get together. I am always looking for good suggestions for restaurants - so let me know! The first Ladies Night Out of 2010 will be Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at 7:00 PM at Brio in Crocker Park (I am partial to the Westside so we are starting there). The Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 18 and 19. Please see Tammy Ponomarenko, Roger Pinta, Joyce or Michael Tabeling for details. We will have a sign up sheet available with time slots to fill for as short as one hour of your time. We need help with attending the booth at the Festival, greeting and/or offering tours at the Cathedral, offering hospitality at the Parish Hall and drivers to transport guests between the Festival and the Cathedral; and a myriad of other opportunities.
