4 St. Edward the Confessor, New Fairfield, CT. The Ladies Guild will host a Birthright Baby Shower the weekend of Feb. 21st & 22nd. Their monthly meeting will be Wed. Feb. 25th at 9:30 in the church hall. Birthright of Danbury is a non-profit organization that offers love, friendship, and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. They help women make a realistic plan for their future and function by donation only. They are in need of baby items and monetary donations. We are asking our generous St. Edward s parish community to help by bringing in donations of baby items, especially, NEW packages of diapers; size newborn, 1 & 2, baby sheets and sweaters, for baby layettes. Items will be collected the weekend of Feb. 21st & 22nd in CR B. Please continue to pray the Prayer of the Spiritual Adoption of the Unborn Baby. Our Lord calls us to imitate him more perfectly by witnessing to the inherent dignity of every human being, including those whose actions have been despicable....we are called to oppose the culture of death by witnessing to something greater and more perfect: a gospel of life, hope and mercy. Life Facts: 14 Weeks from conception: At this age, the heart pumps several quarts of blood through the body every day. The unborn baby s eyebrows have formed and eye movement can be detected. 4 Months: The unborn baby is now only 5 ½ inches long, weighing approximately 5 ounces. He/she is actively moving about inside the safety of the womb. The baby turns, kicks and even somersaults some of which can now be felt by the mother. RCA is a hybrid academy, serving students in PreK-12th grades. RCA provides fully accredited academic and extracurricular classes for Catholic homeschoolers using a classical curriculum. Two days a week (Monday and Thursday), students attend classes in Wilton using the Socratic method with trained tutors and are home schooled the remaining three days. In order to attend you must register online at BOOK CLUB AT HOLY TRINTY Please join Father Gemza & Dr. Janice Jordan in a book club study of Scott Hahn's, The Lamb's Supper: The Mass as Heaven on Earth. The book study will begin on Monday, February 23rd at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall and we will meet weekly. We will provide a copy of The Lamb's Supper for you (so your RSVP is crucial), but ask that you bring a Bible. Book cost is $20, due at our first meeting, unless you wish to buy one on your own. During each session, we will discuss specific book chapters together and read short additional texts that will help us better understand the Mass as well as the Book of Revelation. St. Edward's is participating in "Homefront Day" on May 2, Volunteers come together on this day and give their time and talent to repair a home for someone in the community who is unable to do this themselves. We will have an informational sign up meeting on Sunday, March 1st and April 19th at 6:15 p.m, after the 5:15 mass in the parish hall. If you would like to participate in this program, please try to attend this meeting. 5 Ash Wednesday- There are no classes on Wed., Feb. 18 th, Ash Wednesday. The children s ash service 4:30pm; please see the bulletin or website for additional times you and your child can receive ashes. Grades 3, 4, and 5 Wed. 2/18 no class & Wed. 3/11 no class, due to conferences and early dismissal at MHHS. Please be sure your child has his/her book for class. Pick-up is at 4:30pm. Please use caution and drive slowly in the parking lot to ensure the safety of all. Attention Grades 1 & 2: There are no classes in February for Grades 1 & 2. In place of classes the children will attend a retreat to be held in the church hall. The 2nd grade retreat will be held on Sunday, February 22nd. The 1st grade retreat will be held on Sunday, March 1st. The retreats will begin with the celebration of the 11:00am mass and run until 2:30 pm. Tues. 3/10 no class, due to conferences and early dismissal at Consolidated School. Attention Middle School Parents: Next Class Dates: Grade 6-Feb. 19th Grade 7-Feb. 23rd Grade 8-Feb. 9th-Remember your quarters and travel sized toiletries for the service project. If your child has missed any classes, they must make them up. The next Middle School Makeup Class will be Wed. Feb. 18th from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. in the hall; the class will include attendance at the Ash Wednesday service. Note: You must drive your child to the church, there is no bus service for make-up classes. 4 GLORY GATHERINGS You are invited to the Glory Gatherings Group which meets Tuesdays after the 9AM Mass in the Cry Room. To begin our meeting we relax and listen to music and for the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads each week to a higher, new work of His Glory with inner healings and physical healings, joy, prophecy, and more! Ongoing world events are also lifted up in group prayer to the Blessed Trinity. The core group will pray for your intentions or those you hold in your heart at the end of each gathering. Bring a friend and your (NAB) Bible. All are welcome! R o s a r y P r a y e r G r o u p Come join us for the Rosary. The Rosary is a powerful prayer where we can meet the Blessed Virgin Mary. We can meditate on the mysteries of the lives of Jesus and Mary. We meet on Saturday mornings in the chapel at 9:00 am. Come relax and enjoy this very therapeutic prayer! CATHOLIC YOUNG ADULTS OF GREATER DANBURY Young Adults, (out of high school, 18 to 35), please join us on the first and third Friday's of the month, 7PM to 9PM, at St Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic Church in Brookfield. 6 Ash Wednesday is on February 18th and this begins our Lenten Season. While Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation. It is, however, a day of fasting and abstinence. The masses are: 7:30am, 9am, 5:30PM and 7PM. The prayer services are: 12:00 noon and 4:30PM. FAMILY NAME: Taize Prayer Service Join us for a spiritual evening on Friday, February 20th at 7:00PM, as St. Edwards celebrates Taize Prayer. Taize is a meditative form of musical prayer consisting of simple, repetitive refrains (such as "Jesus Remember Me"). The refrains, based on scripture, can be sung by all. Choir harmony and musical instruments add richness and beauty. A darkened church and the light of many candles create a contemplative environment. The service also includes a scripture reading, intercessions, and veneration of the cross, when participants may come forward to place a lighted candle near the central cross. PARISH COUNSELING Dr. Dan Joynt Ph. D. is a WCSU Professor and a CT Licensed Professional Counselor working with individuals, couples and families. He can be reached either at or by a message to the Parish Office ( ). There is no cost for a first session. Special consideration is available for subsequent counseling services. Lakeside Gala The 10th annual Lakeside Gala wine tasting and auction to benefit St. Edwards will be on Thursday, June 25, 2015 Save the Date!! from 7-11 at The Candlewood Inn. Saint Edward's Wellness Ministry Presents: Holy Yoga 101 February 21, 28 & March 7, 14 from 10 to 11:30am in the hall. This 4-part workshop is open to all and is ideal for you if: You are brand new to yoga Want an introduction to Christian yoga Desire an in-depth instruction of primary yoga poses Long to experience God in an intimate & unexpected way This workshop consists of: Four 90 minute sessions including discussion and practice time to provide you with an opportunity to connect with God, gain information on the benefits of yoga, yoga terminology, Holy Yoga philosophy, breath work, scripture meditation, in depth instruction of the primary poses, and experiential worship through a Holy Yoga practice. There is a suggested donation of $25 per person for this four week series. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat, blanket and water.
