1 St. James Episcopal Church 2 S. Augustine Street Newport Delaware 2018 January The Season of Epiphany The Rev. Sarah Nelson Epiphany is upon us. Epiphany literally means an "illuminating discovery, realization or disclosure." to "have an intuitive grasp of reality through something that is unusually simple or striking." These days following the Incarnation of our Lord are days when our eyes are truly opened to the Divine at work around us. During our time of worship during these days of Epiphany Saint James will be opening our hearts and our eyes to see God working here among us. On January 7th Dave Edwards will be sharing the good news concerning Organ Transplants. On January 14th Andi Bender will be sharing about Williams Syndrome or in the title of a book written about Williams, "The Boy Who Loved Too Much. On January 21st Bishop Brown will be visiting Saint James. Alberta Regan will speak on January 28th about the ministry to caregivers. Finally on February 4th Easter Seals will share their good news. Each of these communities, each of the people represented are like you and me...beloved of our God. Each has something to teach and something to learn. Each has the possibility of opening our hearts and eyes once more the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. During this season of Epiphany, as we look at the world around us, "Come Let us Adore Him" On January 21, Bishop Brown will be visiting us here at St. James. The Bishop s visit is a time of celebration, a time to confirm those new to the Episcopal Church and a time to reaffirm the faith of those who feel so called. This year it is also a time to rejoice and welcome our new Bishop. If you are considering confirmation in the church, reception into the Episcopal Church from another denomination, or reaffirming your faith, please let me know as soon as possible. If your child would like to learn more about The Eucharist and participate in a First Holy Communion class to be held on Saturday, January 13 from 11a.m. to 1p.m., please let me know that as well. Most importantly, plan to come on January 21 st to worship and meet Bishop Brown. lets fill the pews in celebration of this new thing our God is doing. Dining for Dollars Dining for Dollars will be on Thursday, January 11 at Timothy s Restaurant in Newark. The Dinner Group which includes all St. James parishioners and friends, will meet at 5:00pm. Please let the office know if you are planning to attend with the group so that adequate seating can be arranged.

2 Take a flyer and give it to your friends and neighbors. Invite some friends to dine with you.
