(3:4-11) --- Brethren, when Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these, the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. In these you once walked, when you lived in them. But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator. Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all. الرسالة : يا اخوة متى ظهر المسيح الذي هو حياتنا فانتم ايضا ت ظه رون حينئذ معه في المجد. فأميتوا أعضاءكم التي على األرض: الزنى والنجاسة والهوى والشهوة الرديئة والطمع الذي هو عبادة وثن ألنه ألجل هذه يأتي غضب هللا على أبناء العصيان. وفي هذه انتم ايضا سلكتم حين ا اذ كنتم عائشين فيها. اما اآلن فأنتم ايضا اطرحوا الكل الغضب والسخط والخبث والتجديف والكالم القبيح من أفواهكم. و ل يكذب بعضكم بعضا بل اخلعوا ا لنسان العتيق مع اعماله والبسوا ا لنسان الجديد الذي يتجدد للمعرفة على صورة خالقه حيث ل يوناني و ل يهودي ل ختان و ل قلف ل بربري و ل اسكيثي ل عبد و ل حر بل المسيح هو كل شيء وفي الجميع. THE GOSPEL according to St. Luke. (17: At that time, as Jesus entered a village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. When He saw them He said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus feet, giving Him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus said, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner? 2 Let us believers praise and worship the Word; coeternal with the Father and the Spirit, born of the Virgin for our salvation. For, He took pleasure in ascending the Cross in the flesh to suffer death; and to raise the dead by His glorious Resurrection. Thou didst prove to be a citizen of the desert, an angel in the flesh, and a wonderworker, O Makarios, our God-bearing Father. By fasting, vigil, and prayer thou didst obtain heavenly gifts, and thou healest the sick and the souls of them that have recourse to thee with faith. Glory to Him that hath given thee strength. Glory to Him that hath crowned thee. Glory to Him that worketh healings for all through thee. Thy work of justice did reveal Thee to Thy community as a Canon of faith. The likeness of humility and the teacher of abstinence. O, Thou Father and great Bishop Nicholas. Wherefore by humility thou didst achieve exaltation, by Thy meekness wealth, intercede therefore, intercede with Christ that He will save our souls. Thou, O Christ God, Who by Thy Birth, didst sanctify the Virgin s womb, and, as is meet, didst bless Simeon s arms, and didst also come to save us; preserve Thy fold in wars, and confirm them whom Thou didst love, for Thou alone art the Lover of mankind. لنسبح نحن المؤمنين ونسجد للكلمة المساوي لآلب والروح في األزلية وعدم ا لبتداء المولود من العذراء لخالصنا. ألنه سر بالجسد أن يعلو على الصليب ويحتمل الموت وينهض الموتى بقيامته المجيدة. المجد لآلب واالبن والروح القدس : ظهر ت في البرية مستوط نا. وبالجسم مالكا. وللعجائب صان عا. وباألصوام واألسهار والصلوات تقب ل ت المواه ب السماوية. فأنت تشفي السقماء ونفوس المبادرين إليك بإيمان. يا أبانا المتوشح باهلل مكاريوس. فالمجد لمن وهب ك القوة. المجد للذي تو جك. المجد للفاعل بك األشفية للجميع. لقد أظهرتك أفعال الحق لرعيتك قانونا لإليمان وصورة للوداعة ومعلما لالمساك أيها األ ب رئي س الكهنة نيقو لوس فلذلك أحرز ت بالتواض ع الرفعة وبالمسكنة الغنى فتشفع إلى المسي ح اإلله في خال ص نفوس نا. يا من بمولدك ايها المسيح ا لله للمستودع البتولي قدست وليدي سمعان كما لق باركت ولنا ا لن أدركت وخلصت احفظ رعيتك بسالم في الحروب وأيد الذين احببتهم بما أنك وحدك محب للبشر. 3 الشكر--- حديث المسيح لنا اليوم في اإلنجيل المبارك حديث عن الشكر: ب رص مصابون بمرض كان فت اك ا آنذاك برص عشرة ل يعود منهم إ ل واحد وكان غريب ا عن دين اليهود ليشكر الرب لهذا الشفاء الذي نال. بهذا يعل منا اإلنجيل أن المؤمن يعلم ان هللا أعطاه كل شيء وأن كل ما يصنعه من خير إنما يأتي من الرب من نعمة منه ومن فضل كبير. ولهذا اذا عرفنا أن هللا يلتفت الينا بالكرم نحن بدورنا نتوجه الى هللا بما يقابل الكرم اي الشكر. ان أهم صالة عندنا اي القداس اإللهي ت دعى سر الشكر. المناولة او القرابين هي سر الشكر. نجتمع لنقول لآلب: بحق واجب نشكرك ونحمدك ألنك أنت أبرزتنا من العدم الى الوجود ألنك انت خلقتنا. جئت بنا الى النور وهذا فضل منك. إنك أظهرتنا في هذه الدنيا وجعلتنا خلفاء لك فيها مسؤولين عن رعايتها. جعلتنا أشداء لنحكم األرض ونرد ها إليك. من أجل هذا نحن شاكرون. ل نشكر ألن هللا أعطانا المال. هذا كالم غير وارد في الكتاب اإللهي. فالمال قد يأتي من هللا وقد ل يأتي من هللا بل من الكيد والسرقات ومن إرث وليس لنا فضل في اإلرث. لم يقل آباء الكنيسة هذا أنعم عليه هللا بالمال بل قالوا عن انسان ان هللا أنعم عليه بالفقر بفقر يقر به من هللا. في كل حال ل نشكر في الكنيسة من أجل المال. نشكر من أجل الطبيعة هذه التي خرجت من يد هللا. و ل نشكر من اجل الصحة. الصحة ليست دائم ا مفيدة وتكون أحيان ا طريقنا الى الخطيئة. لذلك نشكر ايض ا من أجل المرض ألنه في كثير من األحيان يكون عند المؤمن سبيال الى التوبة. ما يقر بنا من هللا هذا من أجله نشكر. في القداس اإللهي نشكر من أجل أهم شيء حدث عبر التاريخ اي الفداء فنقول: نشكرك من أجل هذه الذبيحة اإللهية التي أعطيتنا... وفي الليلة التي فيها أ سلم المسيح واألولى انه أ سلم ذاته من أجل حياة العالم إذ أخذ خبز ا بيديه المقدستين الطاهرتين البريئتين من العيب وشكر وبارك وقد س... شكر المسيح من أجل الخالص ولكونه شكر اي لكونه عاد بالروح الى أبيه استطاع ان يعطينا. هللا بعطائه يرب ينا يرب ينا بما يعطي ويرب ينا بما يحر م. المحب يؤدب ابنه والوالد يؤدب ابنه بوسائل شت ى: ي فه مه ويدهلل ويعاقبه. المهم أن يتهذب ابنه. ما عدا ذلك كله وسيلة. اذا ما ضرب هللا فهو يضرب ألنه يحب. ولهذا نحن نشكر هللا عندما نمرض وعندما نموت. نشكر في كل حال. نشكره ونصبر. وهكذا ننسجم مع قو ة هللا. الكون كله مشروع هللا ونحن كلما أطعنا وصبرنا واحتملنا ي نف ذ مشروع هللا للكون من خاللنا نحن. ولهذا نصل ي حتى نعتاد إرادة هللا فينا نعتاد ما يريده هللا ليرب ينا على أفكاره. نصل ي لنأخذ فكر هللا ونشكر ألننا نشعر أننا فقراء الى هللا. أهم نعمة يهبنا إي اها هللا أن نشعر أننا فقراء محتاجون اليه في كل لحظة في كل وقت في الصحة وفي المرض في الجمال في البشاعة في كل وقت نحن فقراء اليه ولهذا نشكره. نشكر هللا اآلب الذي أ ه ل نا لشركة ميراث القديسين في النور الذي أ نقذ نا من سلطان الظلمة الى ملكوت ابن محبته )كولوسي ١١-١١(. ١: جاورجيوس مطران جبيل والبترون وما يليهما )جبل لبنان( Saint Nicholas Young adults Young adults from across the Diocese joined together for a winter ski retreat last weekend. Twenty two young adults from St. Nicholas traveled to Big Bear to participate. The theme of the retreat was "Wash Me and I Shall Be Made Whiter Than Snow" Ps. 50. The weekend was inspiring, transformative, and lots of fun.

5 HEALING OF THE TEN LEPERS The Gospel - all the Gospel is a gift of God to us, and although we are not continuously reminded of the need to be grateful, how can we not respond with gratitude to what the Gospel brings to us? God has so loved the world that He has given His only begotten Son that the world may be saved; and the Son has given Himself freely, in the sovereign freedom of His Divinity to us; no-one has taken His life from Him - these are His own words; He gave His life willingly, freely, that we may live. And today we have in the Gospel a short example of the way in which we, most of the time, receive the gifts of God. Ten men came, covered with leprosy, condemned to a cruel death by illness, but also rejected ritually by their own people for the impurity of this infectious disease. They came to Him, stood at a distance, because they knew that according to the Jewish Law they had no right even to come near Him to touch Him. And they asked for mercy. And God send them to the priests to bring forth the sign of their gratitude for the healing which they had not received; and they believed, and they went, and they were healed before they reached their goal... We might have expected that they rushed back to fall to the feet of Christ, to touch Him in gratitude - no. Nine of them went their way; it was enough for them to have been healed: it s all they needed of God. One of them, however, turned round, and came to thank the Lord. Isn t it an image of the way in which so often we also behave? We pray; we ask the Lord for something that matters to us: it may not be live and death, it may just be that we need so much one thing or another; or that we don t even need it so much, but that we long so much for it. And then it is given us; and we receive the gift, and we rush into life with this gift in our hearts, this gift in our hands, we rush to life because it is enough for us that our prayer was fulfilled. How seldom it is that we come back, leaving our gift to be used later, but first of all turning to God and saying: What wander! What is Your love! How great, how compassionate, how humble that You have responded to my prayer... One out of ten came back to the Lord Jesus Christ: how many of us have ever come immediately, before they took advantage of the gift to turn to God with a smile, like a child turns and say 'Thank you!, even with a smile, without words before taking advantage of what is given. And we loose so much at not being grateful; because if we learned to be grateful for the obvious gifts of God, we would gradually discover that we can be grateful for a great deal more, for everything that Providence puts in our way: not only things we rejoice in, not only the wanders of life, but even the challenges of life, the things that claims from us courage, greatness, nobility, the things which we are afraid of. And how often we could overcome vanity by gratitude! Because vanity consists in looking at ourselves, and thinking how wonderful we are, forgetting that all that we are, all that we have is a gift of God. If we only, every time we have said the right thing, done the right thing, been worthy of our human quality, human greatness and nobility, and also of the name of the disciples of Christ - if every time we turned to God and said, Yes! How wonderful are the words I have spoken, how good is the action I have performed - and everything was of You: the occasion was given by You, o Lord! I was able to perceive the need because You whispered in my heart: Look! I could understand because I had my mind enlightened by the Gospel! My heart responded because You touched it, and from the heart of stone which I carry in my bosom most of the time it became a heart of flesh full of compassion and of understanding! And You gave me the means of meeting the need, and the joy of meeting this need!.. If we could respond to everything this way, we would discover that life is made into an act of worship and of gratitude. Let us reflect on this because we are coming within a few weeks, a few days now to a day when our heart should be aflame with gratitude: God has loved us so much as to become one of us; while we were strangers, alien to Him, often inimical to Him, He came, and He gave His life for us that we may live!.. We must prepare for it: joy, gratitude, faith, openness to God does not happen of a sudden; we must prepare for it. Let us reflect on what is going to happen; the thing that happened nearly two thousand years ago we shall remember as an actual event now, in a few weeks; and be ready, with a heart tilled, deeply furrowed by faith, by reflection, having though out all our life, ready to receive the Lord like a shepherd, in the simplicity and purity of our hearts, or like the Wise Men in the deep understanding of wisdom.
