Please join us after liturgy today in our church for our parish St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. Program will begin at 12:30 pm. Sunday, March 25th: Greek Independence Day Celebration and Greek School Fundraiser. Please join us right after the Divine Liturgy in the Trinity Ballroom, for a delicious lunch, a wonderful program and a dance performance by the first place winners, Neolea. Tickets are $10 per adult. Myrrh Bearers will meet on Saturday of Lazarus, March 31 following Divine Liturgy. Bring books you are donating to fill our book bags, pre-kindergarten to sixth grade reading level. The books you loved to hear and read will bring joy to other children. Philoptochos Membership Drive: St. Anthony Philoptochos is currently holding its Membership Drive. Membership renewal forms have just been mailed to all existing members. Please, be on the lookout for your packet and return it at your earliest convenience. We will have a table as you exit church on Sunday to expedite your renewal and for your convenience. We

2 welcome all who would like to join us in helping to provide support for those in need to become a member of Philoptochos. Holy Cross Seminary Donations: Philoptochos will pass a basket next Sunday, March 25 th, for the annual Lenten collection in support of the Holy Cross Seminary. Easter bake sale. Philoptochos is currently taking orders. Order early, deadline is March 25. All proceeds will benefit Kids n Cancer, Camp Agape a Metropolis ministry of Philoptochos. Tsoureki, Kourambiethes, chocolate dipped koulouria, traditional koulouria and dyed red eggs will be available. Pick up date will be Palm Sunday, April 1. 3 Union Station Homeless Services Thank you for supporting this worthwhile program by volunteering your time to serve the homeless. USHS staff and clients are always happy to see our group from Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church. This year we continue to provide nutritious hot meals and serve those less fortunate. Orthros Gospel Reading Eighth Orthros Gospel The Gospel According to John 20:11-18 READINGS OF THE DAY At that time, Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because

5 they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"; and she told them that He had said these things to her. Epistle Reading The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 6:13-20 BRETHREN, when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore to himself, saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you." And thus Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise. Men indeed swear by a greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation. So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he interposed with an oath, so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God should prove false, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. Gospel Reading Sunday of St. John Climacus The Gospel According to Mark 9:17-31 At that time, a man came to Jesus kneeling and saying: "Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a dumb spirit; and wherever it seizes him it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able." And he answered them, "O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me." And they brought the boy to him; and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he had this?" And he said, "From childhood. And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." And Jesus said to him, "If you can! All things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a

6 corpse; so that most of them said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" And he said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting." They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he would not have any one know it; for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he will rise."
