1 January 25, 2016 Nominating Committee Report 232nd Diocesan Convention Document 8 Dear Fellow Members: Enclosed is the Nominating Committee Report for the 2016 Diocesan Convention. The nominees for each office in each category have been listed in random order and will appear in the same order on the convention ballot. Canon 5 provides for independently submitted nominations to be submitted to the Secretary of the Convention. Deadline for such nominations is 45 days prior to the convention. Since all nominations may also be submitted from the floor at convention, I encourage those nominations be made in that fashion. Nominations from the floor must be presented at a microphone and a properly filled-out Nominating Slip (provided by the Secretary of Convention) immediately submitted to the Secretary before further nominations are made (see Rules of Order V). A. Standing Committee (Vote by Orders) 1 Clergy Member, 4 year term *The Rev. Dr. Anne-Marie Jeffery St. Peter s, Perth Amboy Current rector of St. Peter s, Perth Amboy. Prior to that, I served in the Diocese of Washington DC; urban missioner at a downtown parish; college chaplain; priest-in-charge for a troubled parish that eventually decided to close and interim for a multicultural parish. In New Jersey I have served the Clergy Community Committee; Black Clergy Caucus; chaplain for the Union of Black Episcopalians conference; co-chair of the Board of Mission and the Congregational Development Commission. *The Rev. Brian K. Burgess Christ Church, Woodbury2 Fr. Burgess, now in his twelfth year as rector of Christ Church, Woodbury, has been called to serve on Standing Committee three times in response to resignations. He served as dean of his three-county convocation; was elected to the Standing Commission on Clerical Compensation; and has served on Diocesan Council. Fr. Burgess was elected to the Board of Trustees at Sewanee and holds the clerical seat on the Bioethics Committee for Inspira Medical Center, Woodbury. B. Standing Committee (Vote by Orders) 1 Lay Member, 4 year term *Wendy V. Blackman St. Mark s Church, Plainfield Wendy joined St. Mark s in 1985 and has been involved as a LEM leader, Vestry member, Altar Guild, ECW, coordinates Acolytes and Youth Program for Watchung Convocation, chair of Health and Wellness, and served on the Scholarship Committee. Wendy is an active member of the Anti-Racism Commission, Diocesan Council, Board of Missions, Anti-Racism Commission and Team, member of committee to select Missioner for Black Ministry, Secretary for Earl B. Scott Chapter of UBE.

3 C. Deputies to General Convention (Vote by Orders) 4 Clergy Members, 3-year terms *The Rev. Justin A. Falciani Christ Church, Somers Point I have been rector of Christ Church, Somers Point for five years, currently serve on the Disciplinary Board and Committee for the Church Pension Fund. Past vicar of St. Mark's at the Crossing, Williamstown; Elected to Diocesan Council and appointed by Bishop Councell to Congregational Development Commission. I believe my experience in ministry at the parish and diocesan level will be helpful in contributing with others on a global level at GC *The Rev. Paul Jeanes, III Trinity Church, Princeton Rector, Trinity Church, Princeton. Also served as Dean - Trenton Convocation; member of Diocesan Council. I am Chair of the Department of Religious Ministries at Princeton Health Care System and member of Trinity Counseling Service Board of Directors. Prior to Trinity, served as rector - St. James, Pewee Valley, KY. In Kentucky, I served: deputy to General Convention, President - Standing Committee, Companion Diocese Co-Chair, the Diocesan Examining Chaplains, and the Evangelism and Congregational Development. *The Rev. Joanna P. Hollis Christ Church, New Brunswick Currently serving as the Rector of Christ Church, New Brunswick, I came to the Diocese of New Jersey in October 2013 from my position as the Associate Rector of Trinity Church in Santa Barbara, CA. Prior to being ordained a priest in 2009, most of my academic and professional life centered on Japanese language and culture. My diverse academic and professional background, interests and experience influence every aspect of my life, including life in the church, which is why I look forward to serving the Diocese and The Episcopal Church in various capacities. *The Rev. John (Jack) V. Zamboni St. Francis Church, Dunellen Jack Zamboni, Rector of St. Francis', Dunellen, has served as a Deputy to the last 5 General Conventions. He has also served our Diocese on Cathedral Chapter, as Chair of the Committee on Classification of Congregations, and Co-Chair of the Task Force on Restructure. He has a vital interest in the wider life of The Episcopal Church and would be honored to serve again as a Deputy to General Convention in 2018.

4 *The Rev. Gail L. Bennett, Dcn. Trinity Church, Asbury Park Gail is a life long member of the Diocese and was ordained deacon in Gail has served on many diocesan committees, currently a member of Finance and Budget Committee. Gail was a deputy to General Convention in 2015 and alternate deputy in 2006, 2009, and Gail is highly dedicated to the work of the General Convention's Five Marks of Mission and brings the valued perspective of a deacon to that work. D. Deputies to General Convention (Vote by Orders) 4 Lay Members, 3-year terms *Louis A. Cavaliere Grace Church, Merchantville Captain Louis Cavaliere is a retired US Naval Officer who also had a career in business with Keystone Shipping Co. of Philadelphia as a marine engineer and contracts manager. He attends Grace Merchantville and serves there as Treasurer. Lou is a strong advocate for victims of human trafficking and has represented the Diocese of NJ MDG Task Force on the NJ Coalition against Human Trafficking and the United Nations Committee for Stopping Trafficking in Persons. *Thomas Szczerba Christ Church, Toms River Thomas served as Alternate Deputy to GC2015, bringing a much needed Youth/Young Adult perspective to the Deputation. He graduates Rider University in 2016; is an active member of Diocesan Young Adult Council, and Chaplain of his Fraternity. During High School, he served on Diocesan Youth Council and many ministries in the Parish, often in leadership roles. He is currently in the discernment process for Priesthood. Thomas will serve effectively and faithfully as Deputy to General Convention. *Wendy V. Blackman St. Mark s, Plainfield Since joining St. Mark s in 1985, I ve been involved as a Youth Group Leader, served on the Scholarship Committee, Vestry, Altar Guild and the Episcopal Church Women. I am an active member of the Anti-Racism Commission, Acolyte Planning Committee, and UBE (Union of Black Episcopalians). Previously, I ve participated on the Diocesan Youth Council. Currently, I m Chair of the Van Duzer Scholarship Committee, and founded and Chair the Health Ministry at St. Mark s.

5 *Canon Paul Ambos, Esq. Christ Church, New Brunswick Canon Ambos has been a member of the Diocese of New Jersey all his life and is an attorney practicing in the fields of commercial, corporate, real-estate, and canon law. He was elected Alternate Deputy to General Convention 2009 and Deputy to General Convention 2012 and He serves on the diocesan Standing Committee on Constitution and Canons, the Committee on Resolutions, and the Committee on Rules of Order and Dispatch of Business, which he chairs. He has been Chancellor of the Diocese of New Jersey since *Karen G. Bemis Christ Church, New Brunswick Karen Bemis was a 2012 alternate deputy to General Convention. She is an outgoing member of Diocesan Council, was on the Board of Missions, and is a member of the vestry of Christ Church, New Brunswick. In the time left, she conducts scientific research in volcanology, oceanography and data visualization. *Donna Devlin St. Peter s Church, Freehold Donna served as an alternate deputy to the 2015 General Convention. She has served on the Diocesan Council, Cathedral Chapter, and is active on the Pearls and Oysters Committee as well as a long-time advocate of Christian Education. Donna is the DRE at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. She has been an EFM (Education for Ministry) mentor for several years. *Gregory Marshall St. Mark s Church, Plainfield Gregory grew up in the diocese. A freshman at Kean University. An active parish member he serves as an acolyte, past president of the youth group. A member of Youth Council for four years, served as Co-Chair in Travelled to Villanova as a youth representative for EYE in Co-Chaplain to Bishop Stokes for the 231st Diocesan Convention. A 2015 Van Duzer Recipient. Traveled to 78th General Convention with youth from our diocese.

6 *Canon Noreen L. Duncan Trinity Church, Princeton Noreen L. Duncan, a retired professor, is a congregant of Trinity Church, Princeton, where she serves as a lay reader, chalice bearer, usher and member of PCOM. She also pledges as a member of Trinity Cathedral. Co-chair of the diocese's Anti-Racism Team, she is a member of the Anti-Racism Commission and a workshop facilitator. Canon Duncan is lay representative to The Episcopal Church's Executive Committee. *Edgar Kim Byham Trinity Church, Asbury Park Hopefully we'll have a deputation that reflects the diversity of this diocese. I was honored to serve as an alternate in 2015 and would be pleased to serve in some capacity in I ve served as Warden, convention delegate, Episcopal Election Committee member, lay representative of this Province on Executive Council, and on several church-wide committees. I m Coordinator of The Consultation, a consortium of Episcopal organizations, including UBE, EPF & Integrity. E. Diocesan Council 3 Clergy Members, 3-year terms *The Rev. Deborah H. Piggins Holy Trinity, Wenonah Being an interim rector and also serving on various committees and commissions, I have had the good fortune to experience many churches throughout the diocese and their different ministries and programs. I previously served one term on Council and would welcome the chance to serve again especially to help connect the good news activities of parishes with the good news of the diocese and the wider church. *The Rev. Dr. William Carl Thomas Christ Church, Middletown I offer 26 years ordained experience in five other dioceses (3 as settled rector). My doctoral work and experience with the catechumenate are being put to use in the Diocese of New Jersey. I am a stewardship trainer (Dioceses of Alabama & West Virginia) and recently served as the Interim Rector of Christ Church, New Bern NC before accepting the appointment as Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Middletown.

7 *The Rev. Servio Moscoso St. John s Church, Elizabeth Fr. Moscoso has served the Diocese for 28 years. His credentials include: 26 years as Vicar of San Jose Episcopal, currently Priest-in-Charge, St. John's Episcopal Church, Elizabeth. Previous diocesan experience includes: 2 terms on Executive Council; Auditing and Budget Committee, President of Companion Diocese Committee, President of the Hispanic Commission and the Companion Diocese Committee, partnering with Ecuador, and remains an active member of the Hispanic Commission. *The Rev. Canon Lee Powers St. Mark and All Saints, Galloway Canon Powers has faithfully served our diocese for more than 30 years, always with the focus on God. His knowledge of the workings of the Diocese and TEC would be a great asset to Council as we move forward in our ministry. F. Diocesan Council 3 Lay Members, 3-year terms 1 Lay Member, 1 year unexpired term; 1 Lay Member, 2 year unexpired term *Paul Wolfgang Holy Trinity Church, Collingswood I would be honored to serve on the Diocesan Council. I previously served on the Congregational Development Commission, the Loan and Grant Committee, Audit Committee, and the Nominating Committee. At my church I am serving my third term as Senior Warden. I also serve as an acolyte, Eucharistic minister, and lector. *Robert J. McGonigle St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Lumberton Bob has extensive experience in leadership positions on the parish and diocesan level. He has an excellent understanding of both parish and diocesan service. Bob has served a total of more than 30 years on vestry in this parish and his former church. In this Diocese, Bob has served on Diocesan Council, Clergy Compensation Committee, and the Board of Missions. At St. Martin's, Bob is Assistant Music Director, Worship Leader, Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Visitor.

8 Photo was not available. *Carla Navallo St. Peter s, Freehold Retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb. Member, St. Peter's Church, Freehold 12 years. Served on vestry as clerk. Also served as acolyte, lector and on Altar Guild. Currently an LEV. Graduated EfM. Serving as secretary on the Commission on Ministry with the Disabled. Study and teach Tai Chi at China Hand Kung Fu Academy. *Cheryl D. Browne St. Augustine s Church, Atlantic City Cheryl D. Browne is a member of St Augustine's Episcopal Church where she is the first female Junior Warden. Ms. Browne is presently Secretary of Convention, Standing Committee, Finance and Budget, President of the Disciplinary Board for Clergy and the Instructor of a 10 year community computer literacy Outreach program. Ms. Browne is a leader in Bridges of Faith and the Administrator for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial. She is a 2016 nominee for an award for her community work and most recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University. *Marcus A. Gales Christ the King, Willingboro I am a member of Christ the King in Willingboro. I served on the vestry. I am also an usher and a member of the Men's Group. I served as a deputy to the Diocesan Convention for the last five years. I was an alternate deputy to the General Convention. I was a member of the Bishop's Search Committee. I also attended the Diocese's Anti-Racism Workshop. I am retired from the United States Air Force. *Gregory Winter St. Paul s Church, Westfield Gregory Winter is a faithful member of St. Paul s Church in Westfield. He recently retired from a successful law practice and has served the church with distinction as a legal counsel. Mr. Winter served on St. Paul s vestry, was a warden during the most recent transition, and used his sharp mind to draft reforms that were much needed. Gregory has also been a leader of our Youth Mission Trips.

9 *Donna Devlin St. Peter s Church, Freehold Donna served as an alternate deputy to the 2015 General Convention. She has served on the Diocesan Council, Cathedral Chapter, and is active on the Pearls and Oysters Committee as well as a long-time advocate of Christian Education. Donna is the DRE at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. She has been an EFM (Education for Ministry) mentor for several years. *Donna L. Freidel St. Thomas Church, Glassboro Donna Friedel would make an excellent lay member of Diocesan Council. She has served on the Search Committee for the current Bishop of New Jersey and has been involved on the diocesan level with ECW, currently serving as the President of the Woodbury District ECW. She is organized, talented, has a keen sense for both sides of an issue. She is a lifelong Episcopalian and strongly committed to the mission and purpose of the Diocese of New Jersey. G. Cathedral Chapter 2 Clergy Members, 3-year terms Nominations were not submitted for this office. Names can be nominated from the convention floor on the prescribed form provided by the Secretary of Convention at convention. Cathedral Chapter 1 Lay Member, 3-year term *Dru E. Kegreiss St. Mary s-by-the-sea, Point Pleasant Beach A life-long Episcopalian, Dru Kegreiss has been an active member of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea since moving to Point Pleasant in the early 1980 s. He has served several times on the vestry, is a member of the choir and serves as Lay Reader and Eucharistic Minister. Additionally, he has been involved in many outreach ministries and enjoys welcoming visitors. Dru appreciates the inclusiveness of the Episcopal church and its attention to those who are living on the margins of society.

10 I. Standing Commission on Clerical Compensation 2 Clergy Members, 3-year terms 1 Clergy Member, 1 year unexpired term 1 Clergy Member, 2 year unexpired term *The Rev. Dirk C. Reinken St. Peter s, Freehold I have been active in the Diocese for 13 years, serving as Rector of St. Luke's Ewing, and then St. Peter's, Freehold. I have also served on Diocesan Council and Resolutions and am currently active on the Committee on the Priesthood. If elected, this would be my 2nd term on the SCCC and I look forward to helping continue the good work of the commission. *The Rev. Dr. Joyce M. Scheyer St. John the Evangelist, New Brunswick Prior to her call to ministry, Rev'd Scheyer was a USDA soil scientist and a Peace Corps volunteer, with a Ph.D. in Agronomy with a minor in Statistics. She is currently Priest-in-Charge at St. John the Evangelist in New Brunswick. She serves on the Diocesan Stewardship Commission, the Project Resource Team, and the Chaplaincy Committee for the Rutgers Episcopal Campus Ministry. *The Rev. Eve Y. Chamberlain, Dcn., Christ Church, Shrewsbury A lifelong Episcopalian and seeker, Eve was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons in the Diocese of New Jersey in Her sending parish was St. George s by the River in Rumson, NJ where she was an active member for more than 20 years. Eve serves as Deacon at St. John s. Eve is interested in serving at the Diocesan level. She served on Diocesan Council, Lifelong Christian Formation and Millennium Development Goals. *The Rev. Joseph R. Parrish, Jr. Retired Joe has been a priest in the Diocese of New Jersey since 1989, Rector for 24 years at St. John's Church in Elizabeth until retirement, and also served on the Diocesan Council for two years. He has been on an electing committee for the Bishop and a Transitional Committee for the Bishop. He served for several years as Chair of the Environmental Committee & member of the Urban Ministry Committee and Hispanic Commission. He now is enjoying supplying in many DNJ parishes.

11 J. Standing Commission on Clerical Compensation 2 Lay Members, 3-year terms *Arthur G. Pedersen, II, St. John s Church, Woodbridge I feel called to run again for this commission. I bring many years of experience on vestries in 3 different parishes, serving terms as warden and treasurer to this position. The son of a priest I lived my 1st 21 years in rectories. I have seen the compensation issues from both sides. We need to have a system that adequately compensates our clergy with numbers presented in a way vestries can comprehend. *Rosina (Nina) B. Dixon St. John-on-the Mountain, Bernardsville Rosina is a Trustee of Daytop NJ, the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, Jointure for Child Enrichment and Adult Education, and New York Classical Theatre, and is a member of the Advisory Board for Silberman College of Business at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Nina is a member of the Church of St. John-on-the Mountain, Bernardsville and has served on the Vestry from 2011 to *Kirk Bonamici St. Peter s, Spotswood I am a recently retired CPA with a masters degree in taxation. My practice included preparing individual income tax returns for clergy for 25 years where I also assisted with various financial planning matters. I currently serve as the treasurer of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Spotswood. I was elected in October 2015 to fill an unexpired term on the SCCC. K. Standing Committee on Constitution and Canons 1 Clergy Member, 3-year term *The Rev. Dr. John P. Mitchell Church of the Advent, Cape May I would be delighted to continue my service on this committee. The work of this body is important to the healthy functioning of the diocese. I am both a priest and a member of the bar of the State of New York with experience in matters involving the constitution and canons.

12 L. Standing Committee on Constitution and Canons 1 Lay Member, 3-year term Canon Paul Ambos, Esq. Trustees of Diocesan Trust Funds 1 Lay Member, 5 year term *Canon Charles (Chuck) Perfater Trinity Cathedral, Trenton Chuck Perfater currently serves on the Standing Committee, Finance & Budget Committee, the Audit Committee, and the Stewardship Commission. Chuck has been a six time deputy to General Convention, where he served on the Standing Commission for Program, Budget & Finance. Chuck has a lengthy record of leadership at Trinity Cathedral where he is a lifetime member. In addition, Chuck is the Executive Coordinator of Province II of The Episcopal Church. N. Finance and Budget Committee 3 Members, Clergy or Lay, 3-year terms *The Rev. Gail L. Bennett, Dcn. Trinity Church, Asbury Park Gail is a life long member of the Diocese and was ordained deacon in Gail has served on many diocesan committees, currently a member on Finance and Budget Committee. Gail was a deputy to General Convention in 2015 and alternate deputy in 2006, 2009, and Gail is highly dedicated to the work of the General Convention's Five Marks of Mission and brings the valued perspective of a deacon to that work.

13 *The Rev. Paul A. Van Sant, Sr. St. Stephen s Church, Whiting Lifetime Diocesan Member. Ordained Served three Camden Parishes ; led Church of the Good Shepherd, Berlin, to independent parish status Currently: Rector of St. Stephen s, Whiting, member of Diocesan Finance & Budget. Past Member: Diocesan Council, Nominating Committee, Hunger Task Force, Committee on Aging, Cathedral Major Chapter, and Chair of Accountability and Fair Share Task Force. Desire to continue serving our Diocese with our Bishop. *Stephan Sroka Church of St. Uriel the Archangel, Sea Girt Retired Program analyst for the Department of the Army. Longtime member of St. Uriel the Archangel, Sea Girt, having served as Vestryman, Warden, and Clerk of the Vestry. Serves as Lay Eucharistic Minister, Lay Reader and Treasurer for the St. Uriel Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. Currently, member of the Board of Missions and will be completing his third term as member of the Finance and Budget Committee. *The Rev. Dr. Joyce M. Janney St. Andrew s, Mount Holly I currently serve on the vestry for St. Andrews but in my personal life I am in Executive Management with a Global company (currently) and in my past have started a company and led that organization through an IPO into a Public Company. Diverse Financial background. Summa Cum Laude (BA) in Business Administration. *Robert T. Hoffman, Sr. Holy Trinity, Spring Lake Rob is a broadly experienced professional investor having been the lead portfolio manager for 10 s of $ billions in assets over the course of a diverse career. He managed the 5-star rated Scudder and AARP G & I Funds in the 90 s and private capital pools since then. Rob was a gubernatorial appointee as both a member and Chairman of the NJ State Investment Council - the oversight body for all NJ pension monies. He was also Treasurer and Chair of the Investment/Endowment Committee for The Trinity Counseling Center of Princeton. Rob and his wife Penny, have four grown children and are active in the leadership of Holy Trinity, Spring Lake. P. Audit Committee 2 Members, Clergy or Lay, 3-year terms *Paul Wolfgang Holy Trinity Church, Collingswood I have served on the Audit Committee for the past 6 years, and would be honored to continue to serve for an additional three years.
