FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners, Today is the First Sunday of Advent and the beginning of a new liturgical year. The Advent season is a time to prepare for the celebration of Christ s birth, as well as a time to prepare our minds and hearts for his second coming at the end of the ages. In today s Gospel, Jesus says, Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. (Mark 13:33) The Advent season reminds us of the need to be watchful for the Lord in the many ways he comes into our lives. In Word and Sacrament, in charity and justice, in prayer and devotion, Christ comes into our lives with his saving power. Advent is a season of joyful expectation and hope. It is a time to prepare the way of the Lord. May this Advent Season fill us with hope as we open our hearts to Christ! God s Blessings, Fr. Padre Jim Schuerman SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Monday, Dec. 8, is the day we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The day marks our belief that God preserved Mary from any inclination to sin, the inheritance of original sin passed on to all mankind from Adam and Eve. It is the patronal feast day of the United States and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales that day at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. PLEASE PRAY FOR The following parishioners are ill and would like to be remembered in your prayers: Lily Judy Eckert Carol Peck Margaret Curin Theresa Henderson Bob Volp Nicholas Elliot Marge Leahy Mark Hogan Bob Nordhaus Neil Underhill Eric Gefvert Joan Roell Robert Hansen Anthony Ascolani Tammy Irwin John Vita Chuck Dunlap Karen Hess Kelly Hughbanks Peter Barden Bertha Mikrut William Kristen Olson Ben Lambert James Smith Barbara Quincannon Bormes Wayne Rogers Kathy Gutkowski Marilyn Amundson Janette Dunlap Nathan Rittenbacher Paul Hainstock Ed Cox Eleanor Gorski Mary Brown Chris Sova Craig Olson Lisa Amburgey Hailey Hand Carson Tess Adams Hailey Hand Scottie Melancon A.J.
