Sunday in Ordinary Time 2 April 1, 2018 DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY Taken from an explanation of Divine Mercy from the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops website: In the 1930s, Jesus chose a humble Polish nun, St Maria Faustina Kowalska, to receive private revelations concerning Divine Mercy that were recorded in her Diary St Faustina s Diary records 14 occasions when Jesus requested that a Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday) be observed for example: My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My mercy The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment Let no soul fear to draw near to Me On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of St Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would henceforth be known as Divine Mercy Sunday This year s Deanery-wide observation of Divine Mercy Sunday, on April 7-8th, will be held at St John s Church in Burlington The weekend features talks by nationally renowned Catholic Lay Evangelist and Protestant Clergy Convert, Michael J Cumbie The schedule for the weekend is as follows: SATURDAY, APRIL 7 5:30-7:00 pm Food/Meet & Greet Cafeteria 7:15-9:00 pm Divine Mercy & Conversion Church SUNDAY, APRIL 8 11:00-12:30 pm Luncheon Cafeteria 12:45-2:00 pm Divine Mercy & Worship Church 2:00-3:00 pm Communal Reconciliation Church 3:00-4:00 pm Divine Mercy Chaplet Church 4:00-5:00 pm Divine Mercy Mass Church 5:30-7:30 pm Divine Mercy & Evangelization Cafeteria Did you know that our parish has purchased a gift for you?
