Sunday Worship May 28, 2017 10:30 a.m. Our Mission: Growing in Spirit Living as Disciples Serving God s World Preparation for Worship Living Lord, you meet us in unexpected places and surprise us with the abundance of your love. Feed us by your Word and fill us with your Spirit so that we may follow you this day, and always; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Savior. Amen. Welcome and Announcements We Gather in God s Name Passing of the Peace Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Prelude Theme with Variations Andriessen Ray Freeman, Organist Please stand if you are able.

Call to Worship Leader: Sing praises to God, you faithful, give thanks to God s holy name! People: Weeping may linger for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Leader: You turn our weeping to dancing, God; you remove the garments of mourning and clothe us in gladness. People: May we praise you and not be silent! We will give thanks to you, O God, forever! Hymn Alleluia, Alleluia! Give Thanks Prayer of Confession Leader: Through Jesus Christ we have come to trust in God, who raised Jesus from the dead and gave him glory, so that our faith and hope are set on God. And now, friends, let us repent, and turn to God, who will wipe out our sins. People: Merciful God, you call us to repentance and forgiveness through the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ: Help us to hear your call with the eagerness of the disciples; turn us away from all distractions that keep us from seeing Jesus and knowing who he is; forgive us when we neglect to study the scriptures and fail to see your word of life; forgive us when we do not respond to your call to feed your sheep. Help us to live as your beloved children now, and clothe us with joy. Amen. Song of Supplication Forgive Us, Lord Assurance of Forgiveness Leader: People: The Lord s anger is but for a moment; God s favor lasts a lifetime. We have been born anew, not of perishable but imperishable seed, through the living and enduring work of God. Thanks be to God. THANK YOUS... WE CARRY THEIR MEMORY On this Memorial Day, we honor those who have served and carry their memory in our hearts. To our Veterans and those serving now, Thank You. FLASH MOB MISSION In between last Monday s showers and thunder storms, Lynbrook School took delivery of the 700 food packs prepared by our congregation last Sunday. All sorts of Grace people were involved, including members of the Mission and Fellowship Committees, church staff and clergy, and members and guests who gathered in Wester Hall to do a bit of the Lord s work and share lunch with each other. The teachers and staff at Lynbrook Elementary School are very grateful for our ongoing assistance in their program. For all of this, thanks be to you and to God. We hope to see all of you again next year! GRACE TUTORS AND STUDENTS END THE YEAR WITH SMILES Grace Tutoring has just completed another year of helping 26 students from Crestwood and Garfield Schools with their homework, being mentors, and developing meaningful friendships. Be sure to look at the photos in the Narthex to see all those smiles! COMING UP SOON Grace Insights - June 11.
