One: Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. All: Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. One: He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. All: Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. One: Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. When all we can muster are sighs and groans, the Spirit knows those also. When we feel that we aren t even worthy to approach God, the Spirit goes before us and with us and God welcomes us with arms open. Let us confess our sins together. 2

3 Prayer of Confession All: God of abundance and grace: You know us well, better than we know ourselves. You hear us cry Gloria! and Praise! and you watch us tear things apart with our words and deeds. You hear us say Thy will be done and use me, O God and you watch us do nothing in response to cries for help. You know us, and you love us, and you forgive. Hear us now say, Help us to change; turn us around, make us more loving and courageous and hopeful. 4 The Word Prayer for Illumination One: Merciful Lord, grant to your faithful people pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. All: As we hear your Word let us be transformed and reformed into the people you desire us to be. Let us be of that sound and quiet mind you give to us. Amen. 8 Responding with Thanks Call for Offering One: By being of sound mind, filled with quietness, guided by justice, expressing joy in thanksgiving, let us give this offering today led in the peace of our God, to bless all that this offering helps. All: Amen. Offertory *Doxology 592 Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow *Prayer of Dedication All: In this offering see the hearts of the giver. Find peace and truth in abundance in our hearts and minds. Then accept this gift we return that it will be acceptable to you, O God of all. Let your Kingdom grow from the abundance we have received as we extend arms, hands, feet, and hearts to your creation. In Christ we pray. Amen. Communion Blessing of the Bread and Wine One: Open our eyes, Lord Jesus, to see you in this communion, that we see you in this common bread and in our common lives. Let us see you in our hunger and our fullness, in our joy and in our brokenness. All: We take this bread and wine, and we pray that by your Word and Spirit we who eat and drink them may know a closer experience of your presence. Servers please take your places One: On the night before Jesus died, he shared food with his friends. He took bread, blessed and broke it, and giving it to them said, Take and eat, this is my body which is given for you and for many. Do this to remember me. He took wine, blessed it, and giving it to them said, Drink this all of you. This is my blood which is shed for you and for many; do this to remember me. All: To God be the glory forever. Amen. One: We who are many are one body, All: for we all share in the one bread. One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Come and let us take this Holy Sacrament remembering that Jesus died for us, All: and believe in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving, that Christ died for us and rose again in eternal life. 9 Communion Prayer One: Loving God, you have created all humanity in your image and likeness, and have revealed your plan and purpose in calling your friends and family. As we share this holy meal, inspire our hearts to see every man, woman and child given the dignity and value which is your purpose and your gift. All: O God, strengthen us in our desire to serve you and others, and breathe into our bodies the passion of your love. We pray this in the name of Jesus, from whom we have received the promise of the resurrection.
