4 HONDURAS MISSION 2017 Honduras Scholars - Bertha, Cindi, Denis, Feralyani, Leonardo, Mario, Ronal, and Wendy. Please pray for these students whom we support. $600 per student per year comes from the Alternative Gift Fair, the Mission budget, and your designated gifts. Thank you for making middle and high school education possible for children in Honduras, where public education is funded only through 6th grade. Since the year 2000, Grace has provided 162 studentyears of education for 69 different students, changing their lives and offering hope of professional careers Honduras Mission - Please pray for the Honduras Mission Team who left on Saturday, August 5th. God bless their efforts and dedication, and prosper the time they have spent in preparation. The kids enjoyed games and free lunches on the playground. These opportunities, like words, create powerful new realities. Any calligraphers who would like to help prepare dedication plates may also contact Virginia in the office or Cindi Bryant, EVENTS AT GRACE A Grace Disguised - Wednesdays, August 9 and 16, 10:00 a.m. - Sometimes we need to journey through the depths of sorrow, whether due to illness, divorce, job loss, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings. CROP Walk Fundraiser - Sunday, August 27, 2:00-8:00 p.m. When you get back from the ballgame, swing by sweetfrog, 6025 Burke Centre Parkway, for some creamy, delicious frozen yogurt. Use the printed flyer at the Information Station and in Wester Hall, and they will donate 20% to CROP Hunger Walk in Burke. Board of Directors Update - July Improvements to the north parking lot include parking blocks around the median and bordering the park, and plants in the median to reduce erosion. The south parking lot will soon be improved with new lighting and a repaired basketball hoop. A draft key management policy, covering key issuance, safety, and security, has been sent to Session for review and comment. Cameras at entrance doors are being considered. Pastor Ben s office has been repainted. Thanks to the Springfield Area Garden Club, the courtyard is in much better shape with removal of weeds and installation of gravel. Quotes for painting, cleaning, and minor repairs in the Davis House have been requested. Occupancy plans have been delayed until renovation work is done. The lawn mower fleet was increased with a generous donation from the Wades. Thank you! Maintenance has been completed on mowers. You are welcomed to attend the next Board meeting on August 12, at 8:30 a.m., in the Library. If you have suggestions, comments, or questions, you can contact the Board at gpcbod@gmail.com.
