3 From the East Brethren Summer is here. We are having a master mason degree on the 25th of June. Also we are beginning are fund raiser on June 24 at the North Hampton bandstand. Our sisters of eastern star are having a night to honor veterans on June 17 at 730pm dinner at 630pm. if you would like to go, let me know, so i can inform the worthy matron. I need to know by June 15. I would like to wish our Worshipful brother Fred Muscara safe journeys in his travels to South Carolina. Thank you brother and good luck. 4 From the West Greetings brethren, At every lodge meeting, we say the Pledge of Allegiance honoring the flag of our country. The American Flag represents many things. It represents freedom. It represents bravery, for all the men and women who have died defending that freedom. It represents independence. It reminds us that we fought a war to escape persecution from a tyrannical King. But who knows what the Red, White, and Blue represent? On June 14, 1777 in Philadelphia, the Marine Committee of the Second Continental Congress adopted a resolution that read the following: Resolved, that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field representing a new constellation. Another symbol of our nation uses the colors Red, White, and Blue: The Great Seal. The shield in front of the eagle is colored with Red, White, and Blue, and those colors do have meaning. This meaning was explained by Charles Thompson, Secretary of the Continental Congress in He states: "The colors of the pales are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice." Since there was no meaning for the Red, White, and Blue when the American Flag was created, I think it is feasible to suggest that the American Flag s Red, White, and Blue colors adopted the meaning of the Great Seal s colors as well. The above flag was adopted in 1777, the Great Seal was proposed on July 4 th, The seal was not created until June 20 th, Happy Flag Day Brethren! Fraternally, Bro. Brent A. You do not talk about poli cs and religion but eagerly await the closing of the lodge so you can talk about poli cs and religion 20. You laugh every me you see goats
