2 the Well 2 TRIP BASICS Who? thewell Ridgeway Alliance Youth group will be partnering with an organization called Inca Link. For more information about Inca Link and their mission visit What? Construction - we will be assisting in the construction of the Albergue, a children s home/trade school for the children whose parents spend their days sorting through filth at the garbage dump to provide for their families Garbage dump ministry - We will hand out clean food and water to those living and working in the garbage dump VBS - we will spend a day at the daycare teaching the kids a Bible story through crafts, songs and games Where? We will be in Trujillo Peru which is located in northwestern Peru. Trujillo is very close to the Pacific coast When? This is a ten day missions trip. We will leave on Wednesday July 4th and return on Saturday July 14th. Why? Matthew 28:19-20 tells us to go and make disciples of all nations and to teach them to obey everything God has commanded us. thewell s motto is to We participate in these missions trips to go and love people by showing them God s amazing love.

3 the Well 3 Travel Plans To Peru: We will be taking Lan Airlines Flight 531 on July 4th from New York to Lima We will be taking Lan Airlines Flight 2206 on July 5th from Lima to Trujillo Please arrive at JFK Airport at 8p.m. and meet in the Lan Airlines lobby New York Depart from JFK airport at 11:05 p.m. Lima Arrive at J Chavez International airport at 6:00 a.m. * * *There will be a layover from 6 am until 3:40 pm so please plan accordingly* * * (books, ipods, etc.) Lima Depart from J Chavez International airport at 3:40 p.m. Trujillo Arrive at Trujillo airport at 4:50 p.m. To New York: We will be taking Lan Airlines Flight 2207 on July 13th from Trujillo to Lima We will be taking Lan Airlines Flight 420 from Lima to New York Please arrange to be picked up at 7:30 am at JFK Trujillo Depart from Trujillo at 5:20 p.m. Lima Arrive at J Chavez International airport at 6:25 p.m. * * *There will be a layover from 6:25 pm until 11:55 pm* * * Lima New York Depart from J Chavez International airport at 11:55 p.m. Arrive at JFK airport at 7:35 a.m.

4 the Well 4 Packing List **You may bring one bag that weighs 50lbs or less. Do not bring clothing that is too tight, too small, or form-fitting in any way (nothing should hug your body) Do not bring pants that are low-cut. You should be able to bend over and touch your toes without showing any skin in the back and raise your hands all the way above your head and not show your stomach Do not bring clothes with holes, rips, or tears. No flashy clothes or jewelry Do not bring clothes with American logos and advertisements (School logos are acceptable) Please keep in mind that if you are led, leaving or donating these clothes to the community is not uncommon. Church attire: Pants / Skirts (NO SHORTS!), Dress shoes (NO Flip Flops, sneakers or boots- TOMS and other casual closed-toe shoes are ok), Shirt with a collar or blouse. Garbage dump/construction VBS attire: Pants and/or shorts, T-shirts, strong shoes What To Pack: Clothes: * * *Remember that you can wear clothing MORE THAN ONCE* * * 3 pairs of work pants 3 pairs of shorts 1 church outfit (refer to guidelines listed above) Sweatshirts or light jackets and a few long sleeved shirts (it does not get very warmremember, it s winter there!) Work shoes: strong, durable shoes that can withstand construction conditions. (Boots highly recommended. Shoes should be easy to clean or ones you don t mind throwing out after walking through the garbage dump) Underwear and socks 1 pair closed-toe casual shoes, shower shoes Pajamas - Nothing revealing - shorts must be to the knee, no tank tops. One bathing suit Toiletries: Soap, shampoo, razor, shaving cream, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste Avoid bringing strong perfumes, body sprays, etc (they attract bugs) Brush or comb, ponytail holders, small mirror (try to coordinate hairdryers so not everybody is bringing one. Avoid bringing straightening or curling irons) Extra glasses, extra contact lenses, cleaning solution, sun glasses Strong sunscreen (and hat if your face burns easily) BUG SPRAY OR REPELLENT

5 the Well 5 Other: Bible, notebook, pens Reusable water bottle 2 Copies of your passport (1 in carry on, 1 in checked bag) Passport Between $100-$200 CASH MONEY (clean money -- no rips or markings -- smaller bills preferred) FLEXIBLE attitude Electronics (ipod, ipad, Cell Phones, Laptop)- for entertainment purposes for the plane, airport. Bring at your own RISK! Keep in mind, while in Peru, you may not be able to charge these devices. LADIES: *Most clothing needed will be for construction so be sure to bring clothes that can get dirty* Jeans: with no holes that aren t too tight Shorts: at or below the knee (basketball shorts or bermuda shorts are best) that are not too tight Skirts: that are loose that go to the knee T-Shirts not form fitting not too short (No Midriffs please). You can wear short sleeves, but they must cover the shoulders and upper arms. No caps sleeves or sleeveless shirts of any kind. Shirts should not have scoop necks or low v-necks. (If you do wear these, wear a tank top or other layers underneath) Shorts aren t allowed to be worn at church. Dress pants or skirts are acceptable. Bathing Suit: Only one piece or tankini allowed! (It is wintertime in Peru, so the water is COLD) GENTS: *Most clothing needed will be for construction so be sure to bring clothes that can get dirty* Jeans, pants, or shorts to the knee. Work shirts or T-shirts (no tank tops or sleeveless shirts) Pants must be worn to church -- no shorts. Bathing Suit: No Speedos (It is wintertime in Peru, so the water is COLD)

6 the Well 6 Carry On: **Please use your school backpack to bring with you on the plane. You may bring liquids as long as they follow the rule. Visit TSA.Gov for more info. Bible and other books ipods, ipads, Laptops, kindles, (Bring at your own risk). Copy of passport Keep in mind we have 20 hours of travel Bring what you need to freshen up!!! Dress comfortably but please follow dress code guidelines for trip We recommend bringing 1 change of clothing in your carry-on. We will be traveling for many hours and you may want to change or have something extra in case checked bags are delayed. Bring glasses, extra contacts, and contact solution You may want to bring eye drops because flights can be dehydrating Bring a toothbrush and travel size toothpaste-traveling is a long time to go without brushing your teeth. Your seat mates will be grateful. Bring a sweatshirt-flights tend to be COLD. Keep all liquids to to the rule: 3 oz or less, 1 clear plastic bag, per 1 passenger. Money: We suggest bringing between $100-$200 for souvenirs, food in the airport, snacks, etc. Please bring clean bills (no rips or markings) in small denominations ($1, $5, $10, and $20 -- no $50 s or $100 s). The Inca Link staff will be exchanging our money for us Passport Info: Jon will be collecting passports at the airport to make sure they are secure during travel. Please be ready with your passport easily accessible when you come to the airport on Wed. July 4th. You will also need to keep a copy of your passport in your checked luggage and in your carry-on. Please make sure these copies are secure in your bag.
