Here s a few examples: To succeed in life you need these three things... a wish bone, a funny bone, and a back bone. Or You had a purpose before anyone had an opinion. Or The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. And then there s my absolute favorite Always stay humble and kind. quote that caught my attention. You are always one decision away from a totally different life. I had to go back and read that again. It made me think about the Christmas classic, It s a Wonderful Life. The 1946 movie centers around George Bailey (played by Jimmy Stewart) who wishes he had never been born. An angel is sent to earth to make George s wish come true. It is then that George realizes how many lives he has changed and impacted, and exactly how things would be different if he had never been born. However, thanks to you the 4-H club leaders, volunteers, and members you have made this a great calling. Know that each of you involved in this organization has touched numerous lives, including mine. Thank you for your dedication and for making the decision to help make the best better. Enjoy the holidays and love your families and friends. Make those Christmas memories and establish traditions. 3 How to Make a Rocking Paper Plate Santa CLOVER KID CORNER What you need: a paper plate (one paper plate will make two snowmen) Scissors Glue Black marker Orange paper for the nose Black paper for the hat Colored paper for the scarf Any other decorating materials are naturally more than welcome, some silver or blue glitter glue might give nice little snow sparkle effect. Fold the paper plate in half. Cut along the fold to get two two equal pieces. Take one half of the paper plate, roll it into a cone. Apply glue on one end, and glue together into a cone shape. Hold together until the glue sets. (I usually use a clothespin for this task, and continue crafting.) Draw eyes and buttons with a black marker. Cut out a carrot nose shape out of orange paper. Apply a smaller amount of glue and stick the nose under the eyes. Draw mouth with a black marker. Cut scarf out of scarp paper. Glue it on the paper plate snowman. Cut a hat shape out of black paper. You can decorate the hat with a paper ribbon if you so wish. Glue the hat on top of your rocking paper plate snowman. Have fun playing with your rocking paper plate snowman. The Jeffrey Laughlin Memorial Scholarship, the Pat Evans Memorial Scholarship, and the Bates County 4-H Scholarship are available to Bates County 4-H seniors. All three scholarships now use the same form and format. You may upload this application to pdfescape.com to make the forms fillable. The scholarship(s) deadline is February 1. You may receive either the Jeffrey Laughlin Memorial Scholarship OR the Bates County 4-H Scholarship, but not both. You may apply for both. You will still be eligible to win the Pat Evans Memorial Scholarship if you win the Jeffrey Laughlin or Bates County 4-H Scholarship. 4-H Foundation Scholarships Available In 018 thanks to generous donor support, the Missouri 4-H Foundation will offer over 50 college scholarships ($500 - $,500/scholarship). 4-Hers who are current high school seniors and former 4-Hers who are college students are eligible to apply. The scholarship guidelines and application is available on the Missouri 4-H website at Check with your local Extension office for the local application due date. Applications are due in the State 4-H Office by March 1, 018. Check out the list of scholarships on the 4-H scholarship website and apply! The scholarship application format is almost identical to the 4-H Missouri Recognition Form (MRF) format. If you complete the MRF form, you ve completed most of the narrative for the scholarship application, too. Details coming soon! Deadline for submitting newsworthy information (including photos) is the 15th of each month. Newsletter will be published on or by the 5th of the month!

B rush Therapy 4-H Brush Therapy held a 4-H and Friends Painting Class on Sunday, November 19, at Kamp Keirsey, Amoret, MO. There were a lot of laughs, concentration and fun as the artists completed their projects. Thank you, Shannon Crawford and Carla Armentrout, for a fun afternoon. 4

6 The Summit Go-Getter s 4H club meeting was held November 14, 017. Maylen Lawson called the meeting to order. There were no birthdays. Members received pins for Recognition Day. The club voted that T-Shirts will be sold for $15 starting in January. The club voted to donate to the Bates County youth center. The items chosen to bring were games and hygiene items. Skilyn Roberts, the health officer, taught the club how to make Turkey Bags. Her challenge was to stay physically active during the cold weather. Robyn Eckhoff visited our club to talk about upcoming county events.
