3 Page 2 From the Chairman s Desk Praise the Lord to our Diocesan, Bishop Paul A. Bowers, Officers and Members of the Great Ohio District Council. Favor, spiritual peace and harmony are yours from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God, Bishop Edgar Posey and the Living Faith Apostolic Church Family. We were welcomed and served superbly, and God met us in a marvelous way. We thank you, and give God the praise for your great love and kindness during our Council. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42); WHEN WORSHIP IS IN THE HOUSE God will show up and show out! (Continuation from last issue) EXODUS 40:34-38; But Moses could not escape who he was. When he saw an Egyptian taskmaster abusing one of his Hebrew brothers, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand. Moses was now a fugitive running for his life. But it was just God putting him on parole tending his father-in-law s sheep on the back side of the desert. While tending sheep on Sinai, God arranged for Moses to rendezvous with a bush that was on fire but did not burn up. God then sent this fugitive from justice back to Egypt to tell Pharaoh, Let my people go. So Moses with nothing but a stick in his hand and an order from the Lord went back to Egypt to lead the children of Israel from slavery to freedom. But Moses had no identifiable leadership skills; This Moses had never taken a course in management; Moses had no strategic plan for his assignment; Moses was unequipped, understaffed, and undercapitalized; But This Moses had learned all that he knew as a result of on the job training. God set him up, then sent him out with over two million people behind him, carrying all that they owned in the world. Moses assignment was to lead them through the wilderness, without a road map or directions from the Internet, without Mapquest, without On-star, without any navigational technology. He was leading them to a place called the Promised Land, a place they had never been before. Now the children of Israel did not want to enter the Promised Land because they were afraid of the unknown, afraid to get out of their comfort zone. So because of their disobedience and lack of faith, God let them wander in the wilderness forty years. They murmured, and complained. They wanted to go back to Egypt to the flesh pots, leeks and garlic, to the menus of Egypt. They were not satisfied with God being their Chief Chef. They were not satisfied with Manna from the Masters table They were not happy being fed with this Bread of Heaven. When Moses woke up to pray, his followers rose up to play. They couldn t see wandering through the wilderness following Reverend, Elder, Doctor, Bishop, Pastor Moses. But! In the midst of it all, Moses told the people that God had given him a vision for building a tabernacle, a portable place of worship. Moses said that God had told him, (Exodus 25:2-9); (2) Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. (Worship and Honor) (3) And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, (Worship and Praise) (To be continued in the next issue) Suffragan Bishop Roy C. Dawkins Suffragan Bishop Roy C. Dawkins Council Chairman

5 Page 4 Featured Article Reaffirmation of the Apostolic Doctrine By Bishop Paul A. Bowers Former Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (Christian Outlook 1998) On July 9, 1998, the Pastors of the Ohio District Council stood before the ODC Annual Conference during the Thursday evening worship service and reaffirmed our stand on the Apostolic Doctrine. After we made this commitment, all of the Council members stood and prayed for us. At this point, the Spirit of God filled the Tabernacle, and everyone present seemed to feel the presence of God and greatly rejoiced! The Pastors of the Ohio District Council felt to do this because we wanted our parishioners to know that we were not wavering in our belief of the Apostolic Doctrine. The two main aspects of the doctrine that we stressed were: 1. The Oneness of the Godhead 2. Water baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Spirit baptism with evidence of speaking in tongues, as being essential to the born again experience. The idea of Pentecostalism (in a general sense) is spreading, and many are claiming to be Pentecostal; however, the Apostolic Doctrine, as it relates to the above, seems to be on the decline. I find it difficult to understand how one can be truly Pentecostal and deny the Oneness of the Godhead and water baptism in the name of Jesus, and being filled with the Holy Ghost as constituting the New Birth. This is the truth upon which our organization was founded. This is also the message given to us by the original Pentecostals the Apostles. The Oneness of God is basic to our message. We may be surprised to know that others before us proclaimed the One God message. In some instances, some of them according to church history lost their lives because they proclaimed it. David K. Bernard, in his book titled The Oneness of God, wrote that during the reformation period, Michael Servetus in 1553 was burned on the stake for his Oneness belief, with the approval of John Calvin. He further wrote that Emmanuel Swedenberg ( ) was a Swedish religious writer who penned: Whosoever does not approach the true God of heaven and earth, cannot have entrance into heaven, because heaven is heaven from that one only God, and that God is Jesus Christ, who is Jehovah the Lord, from eternity the Creator, in time the Redeemer, and to eternity the Regenerator: of consequence, who is at once the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and this is the Gospel which is to be preached.

6 Featured Article (cont d) Page 5 It is obvious that there were Bible scholars long ago who believed in the Oneness of God, and some lost their lives because of their belief. Since we are blessed with this wonderful truth, we should proclaim it to the four corners of the earth, and must never compromise this message. The doctrine of the new birth is also basic to what we Pentecostal Apostolics believe. Jesus, in St. John chapter three, explained that in order for one to be born again and to be admitted into the Kingdom of God, he must be born of the water and of the Spirit. The disciples embraced this truth, and introduced it to the multitude on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem in 33 A.D. Jesus Christ, Himself, told us what to do! The Apostles, in the book of the Acts of the Apostles, explained and demonstrated to us how to do it! This unites, once and for all, the Pentecostal experience and the Apostolic Doctrine. The Apostles put the water baptism and Spirit together as one. They never made a separation. We today, have no right to make that division. It is not our role as Pentecostal Apostolics to devise a method for anyone to be admitted into the Kingdom, without adhering to the Words of Jesus. Who can alter the Words of Jesus, or change His message, or the message of the Apostles? This is the message that we must preach as it relates to being born again! I would recommend that we, as an organization, take this stand and that we as a body of believers reaffirm this all over the world. Let the message be made clear that we are not satisfied by being labeled as Pentecostals only, rather we are ONENESS APOSTOLIC PENTECOSTALS, who believe in One God only, and that One God is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We believe that in order to enter the Kingdom of God, we must be baptized in water, in the Wonderful Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, as the spirit of the Lord gives the utterance! 12/98 THE CHRISTIAN OUTLOOK

10 ODC Seniors Tribute/Directions Page 9 Tribute to ODC Seniors When thinking about our Seniors Saints two important scriptures come to mind: Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread. and Proverbs 16:31 The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness. These verses speak volumes about the blessedness of living to reach what David expressed in Psalm 90 The days of our lives are seventy years and if by reason of strength they are eighty years... It is truly a gift from God to journey through life s labor and sorrow and still be living at seventy plus years of age. Regardless of our life s difficulties and challenges, you Senior Saints have lived to witness the truth of God being Faithful, Providential, Protective, and Beneficent. Because of His grace, you have been a blessing to the Ohio District Council by your personal and individual support. You have sown financial seed into the soil of the ODC Campground and are alive to testify when we Honor The Lord with your possessions and the first fruit of our increase, so will your barns be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:9 The Ohio District Council salutes all of our Senior Saints for their labors of love, contributions to the campgrounds, support of the visions of the Diocesans, and all who have sacrificed and labored to execute the mission of ministering to the needs of our members. May the God of all grace continue to bless you; and may you continue to lead the way, by leaving a legacy and by modeling to the following generations your example of Christ-like living and Christian giving!
