1 Welcome to Farringdon Church Thank you for being with us in celebration of our 185 th Anniversary today. Everything you need for the service can be found in this booklet and in the red Worship & Rejoice hymn book. Our service is typically just over an hour. If you are looking for a spiritual home, we have a variety of services and programs to meet your needs. Please introduce yourself to the morning greeters or the hosts at coffee time in Narthex (front lobby) or Rev. Mike Rattee after the service to learn more about what this church has to offer. Washrooms are located on the lower level, either a barrier-free washroom below the Narthex, accessible via the elevator or stairs, or in the Christian Education wing - just ask one of the greeters for directions. Children`s programming during Fall, Winter and Spring occurs each week, with the children coming forward during the 2nd Hymn for a Children`s Time then on to Sunday School. Nursery age children are cared for the entire service, however, if your child would like to remain with you for the service that`s great too. Ask about our three, free mid-week young Christians nights. The Offering plate at Farringdon is a responsibility of members and adherents. You are welcome to make a financial contribution to support our ministries, however, if you are visiting us for the first time, we don't expect you to make a financial gift - we'd rather ask you to pay attention to God's blessings in your life, return next week, and make your gift then. Today, you are welcome to share in Chancel Communion, immediately following the greeting at the door and social time in the Narthex. All Christians are welcome. The service is brief and held at the altar. Please join us for refreshments after the service in the Narthex. Just follow the crowd and join in as a welcome child of God. The Board of Deacons would like to welcome Lindsay Butler and Debbie Armstrong for volunteering as Deacons. As per the requirements of the Farringdon Independent Church Constitution, a short Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 4 immediately following the service to approve these two appointments. This is the first of two required Notices of Meeting. Farringdon Sexton; Annett Holyomes will be away from Oct. 23 and returning on Nov. 6th. 7 Farringdon Christmas Bazaar 2018 This year s Farringdon Christmas Bazaar will be in Saturday, November 17 th and we need your help to make it the success it has been in recent years! Farringdon Volunteers needed! Please contact any of the Deacons soon to offer your help. Also, you are encouraged to look in your attics, garages and closets for new or nearly new items that we can sell including Christmas things. Closer to the time of the sale they can be brought to the church. Thank you for helping in the wonderful fellowship with the church members and the community... Soup in a Jar Fall Workshop will take place at Farringdon on Saturday morning October 27th at 10:00 a.m. ~ Family oriented fun. ~ cost is $5.00. The first 30 to register will be accommodated. Small Group Bible Studies at Farringdon Is held on Tuesdays (10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.) Our new study is Christian Community focusing on how we can grow closer & stronger at Farringdon. These are Open to all adults (co-ed), regardless of your Bible knowledge. Join us each Tuesday in the Board Room by the offices. Also: A Sunday morning prayer group is held Sundays at 9:30 10:00 a.m. in the Board Room. Together we will pray through several prayers in the Bible as well as pray for the service, our city, and each other. All teens and adults are welcome. Operation Christmas Child It may seem as though Christmas is a long way away, but National Collection Week for our Samaritans Purse Shoeboxes is quickly approaching. Check out our OCC table in the Narthex or connect with Katelyn for more info. Collection Day is Sunday November 18. Youth Event "Bigger or Better" is looking for volunteers to be home between pm Monday November 19. Teams of four will be assigned a route and will arrive at your home looking to trade an item with you. You will be challenged to give them an item that is bigger or better then the item they came with. This is a great opportunity for you to meet some of our teenagers who are not often here on Sunday mornings. Sign up sheet is in the Narthex. Page - 8 -

9 There will be a Christmas Pageant work day Tuesday November 27 from Anyone interested in helping paint some emojis or iron some t-shirts are encouraged to come out! Please forward requests to use the church hall to the Board of Deacons c/o Greg Holyomes, Chair. The most updated Farringdon Constitution-2018 has now been posted on the church website. If you are not on the internet at home, there are a few hard copies available in the Narthex or a copy can be printed and available for pick up at the church office. 10 In the Gospels Jesus asks over 120 questions to people. On these next 2 Sundays (Oct. 28, Nov. 4), we will hear Jesus ask US several of these same questions.
