I pray that your holiday season was filled with more love and joy than you could handle! I must begin the year expressing my sincerest gratitude and humility as serving as your Basileus. I truly appreciate your confidence that you have bestowed upon me and I promise to continue to serve Beta Sigma Omega to the best of my ability at all times. From fabulous fundraisers to wonderful community service projects, this year promises to be one to remember! As we move through the year in our chapter and our community, let us make sure to focus our minds on what the charter members of Beta Sigma Omega envisioned for this chapter, which I am sure, included our absolute basic tenant of Serving ALL Mankind! Our charter members are Sorors Betty Carruthers Bland, Jeannetta Gear, Ruth B. Joseph, Vida Lois Milton Van Brunt, Mary McCurtis Moulder and Geraldine Armstrong Williams, Let us not forget! Sorors as we wrap up the holiday season let s put forth our best efforts to be the best servants of our community, our beloved sisterhood and Bet Sigma Omega. As we continue to promote Madam Supreme Basileus Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson s theme Launching New Dimensions of Service program we, in Beta Sigma Omega, will focus on our own them for 2017 which is in line with our purpose as Alpha Kappa Alpha women: Sisters With A Goal Beta Sigma Omega we are sisters by culture and by merit in our commitment to serving mankind. We have all chosen Alpha Kappa Alpha and Beta Sigma Omega because out organization s most outstanding reputation in service, knowledge and commitment. It s time we put our money where our mouths are and bond our sisterhood for supreme excellence. In 2017, I am urging us all to engage in our Programs, our Sisterly Relations activities, our Fundraisers, our Connections activities, our Standards workshops, just to name a few. Let s really get involved in elevating Beta Sigma Omega to a more outstanding prominence in our community. Let s become involved in all that is Beta Sigma Omega. How do we do that? We do that by becoming knowledgeable and ready to take on any challenge. We attend conferences, clusters, Boule, chapter meetings and any other opportunities which arm us with the knowledge of procedures, history and our documents so that we can become better Sorors, create a better chapter and use our knowledge to mentor others to become their best selves as well. We remember our Founders who set out in 1908 to establish an organization to give back to those less fortunate. We remember Luke 12:48 but he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much us given, of him shall be much required; and to who men have committed much, if him they will the more. As women of Beta Sigma Omega, we have been blessed A LOT.with friendships, education, and sisterhood. We become involved Sorors by volunteering in our program activities with our time, tithes, and our talents. We lend our best resources OURSELVES to improving our chapter. In short, we give back to those who need it most our community. And finally, we elevate Beta Sigma Omega by doing all we do in excellence. We shall put forth our best efforts and commit ourselves to SWAG and SERVE in Serve through Programs. Serve through Fundraisers. Serve with Membership and Sisterly Relations. Serve with Connections. Serve with Archives, with Audit, with Scholarship, Fashionetta, Budget, Constitutions & Bylaws, EAF, Protocol, Publicity, and.. Support chapter activities. Give your gifts to creating Scrapbooks. Give your best talents, find your niche, have fun, grow, enjoy and most of all let s Serve!!!I m ready Beta Sigma Omega. Are you? Lets be Sisters With A Goal. Let us continue to keep of charter members memories alive by building this chapter! Words cannot express my gratitude to all of you for entrusting me with this responsibility. Please know that there is not a day that goes by that I am not humbled by what all of you do to make this chapter great! Let s continue to work together to invest in the lives of others. There is one scripture that defines what I would like all of us to remember this year, and it is: As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God s grace. 1 Peter 4:10 Sincerely, Anika Wilson, Basileus
