4 Stock Donation Directions There are considerable tax advantages to donating appreciated investments to the church. An investment account is maintained with Raymond James, The Ricketts Group, in Louisville, to hold individual stocks. Following are instructions for donating stock to the church. Ask your broker to electronically transfer shares to the church s account with Raymond James. Simply contact your broker, give him/her the following information and instructions concerning the securities and the number of shares to transfer. o Raymond James DTC No o VPC Account No o Contact name: Karen Kopatz ( ) After you have given your broker or mutual fund company instructions to transfer investments to the church, please inform the financial recorder of your donation. This will alert the financial recorder that the church is receiving a donation and ensure that you receive proper documentation for your tax records. Per IRS guidelines, the church recognizes your contribution at the average price that the security traded during the day it was received. You will also need to instruct the financial recorder should you wish to place any restrictions on the use of your donation. Thank you, VPC Finance Committee Remember your church family with a card and a note. Each week in the e-news you'll see the names and addresses of a few people who would love to hear from you. Please let them know you're thinking of them. Greeting cards are available on the donation station in the Welcome Center free-of-charge. VPC Nursery services are available for children ages 3 and under during the 10:00 service. Children age 4 and older are encouraged to attend Children's Church. Do you know someone who could use a warm hug and a prayer? Heartstrings Shawl Ministry has beautiful handcrafted prayer shawls and chem caps to give to people who are suffering a health crisis, loss of a loved one or other personal hardship. If you know someone who would be touched by a prayer shawl, please contact Lois Gaines. Prayer shawl request cards can be found in the literature rack in the Welcome Center, and next to the prayer shawl display in the sanctuary. Heartstrings is a ministry of the congregational care committee. See the shawl display in the front of the sanctuary. Everybody needs a little help once in a while. VPC volunteers are ready to give you an occasional hand with small household projects, light outdoor tasks and even respite care. Contact Penny Evans ( or Evans-penelope@ gmail.com) and we ll do our best to match your need with a volunteer.
