1 WARPOLE SHINING STAR November 2016 Volume 3, Issue 3 ******************************************************** A MESSAGE FROM THE EAST... Sisters and Brothers, I am so excited to be your Worthy Matron for 2017 and look forward to working with Brother Richard Eyestone again. I know we will have a great year and look forward to making each meeting a fun and fulfilling event in your life story. The theme this year is Open Your Heart to Others, and that is what we plan to do all year. We will be reaching out to organizations throughout both Crawford and Wyandot counties. We will be celebrating Christmas after our December meeting with our annual gift exchange. In January and February, we will be offering a light supper before the meeting. Many more exciting events are being planned. We hope each of you will find time in your busy schedule to be a part of the fun. Star Love, Marla Barber, WM INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS Installation of officers was held on Saturday, October 8, Steve Farus, PGP served as the InstaIling Officer as Marla Barber and Dick Eyestone were installed as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. Debbie Pool served as Installing Chaplain; JoAnn Hastings, PGM, Installing Marshal; and Diane Burks, Installing Organist. Rita Dropsey, PM of Ruth Chapter, Mansfield was soloist. The officers dresses this year are deep purple with rhinestone embellishments around the neckline. The men s neckties are purple brocade. The dining room was decorated with ceramic praying hands and vases of various colors of hydrangea flowers. Refreshments were served by Mary Kingseed and Jenni Russell. 2 OES HOME TRUSTEE MESSAGE Greetings Sisters and Brothers! I hope you Vote or Elect to Support your OES Home! The 3 rd annual statewide Bob Evans Fundraiser for the OES Home Capital Campaign will take place on election day November 8 th, from open to close at all Ohio Bob Evans. Bob Evans will donate 15% of the sales when you present a flyer at the time of your check out. You can participate by deciding to eat out for breakfast, lunch, supper, or a snack and support the OES Home. On August 31 st, the ribbon cutting was held for the 4 new neighborhoods. Over 250 guests came to see the new buildings and home for our residents. It was a very exciting day and if any of you have a chance to visit Mt. Vernon, do not hesitate to stop in and take a tour. The residents are waiting to move in as soon as the Ohio Health Dept. completes the last inspection. A Message from the Deputy Grand Matron I am thrilled to be your DGM for another year. You each were so helpful throughout last year that I know this year will be another success. EOP #2 for Regions C, D, & E was held on Oct. 29 th at the Findlay Masonic Center. Linda Fiatoa, a member of Ruth Chapter #17, was announced as my Grand Page and Richard Hudson, a member of Warpole Chapter #366, was announced as my Grand Aide. I am looking forward to working with these two and traveling our beautiful Order. Ruth Chapter will be holding their Installation of Officers on Nov. 18 th at 7:30; Gayle Rohde, Worthy Matron and Alvin Smith, Worthy Patron will be heading to Dayton on Nov.19 th for EOP#2 in the WGM s Region. If you missed Region C s in Findlay and would like to attend, please let me know.. I will keep you informed of important dates as they become available. Star Love, Marla Barber DGM#10 There is still an opportunity to contribute to the Capital Campaign in its last year by joining the Million Dollar Club. Please go to the OES Home website at click on Capital Campaign. You can also support the residents by supporting the Home Warming Showers. This website has a list of everyday items that is needed in the 4 neighborhoods. Grand Chapter in September saw over 300 people join us for the open house on Friday afternoon. Election on Saturday brought 2 new members to the board Becky Thatcher from District 7 and Barbara Stuart from District 13. Thank you to all for your support and the support you give to the OES Home! 5 Special Moments, Special Memories A reception for Grand Representative of Oregon in Ohio, Darcie Miller, was held at Warpole Chapter on Sunday August 21, Fifty members and guests attended the event. Darcie received her appointment in January, 2014 at our School of Instruction in Mansfield by Evelyn Hardesty, PGM, who was the Grand Conductress at that time. Darcie shared pictures and stories of her trip to Oregon s Grand Chapter in June, Darcie traveled many, many miles and visited many chapters and districts during her term as Grand Representative. Entertainment was provided by Jan Below, who sang What a Wonderful World. The dining room was decorated in the theme of The Old West. Marla Barber, Deputy Grand Matron of District #10, honored her Grand Page, Carol Grubel and Grand Aide, Richard Hudson at our September meeting. She shared that they traveled more than 9000 miles and visited 13 districts this past year. Marla thanked Carol and Richard for their time and commitment and presented them with gifts. Roberta Ekleberry, WM and Steve Ekleberry, WP were also presented with gifts from the officers that evening, in celebration of their birthdays. Ice cream and cake was served in the dining room after the meeting. Grand chapter news: Grand chapter was held at the Dayton convention center for the last time on September 23-25, Grand chapter will be held at Kalahari in Sandusky beginning in Warpole Chapter once again had a strong showing with their chapter and ritualistic excellence. The ritualistic competition was held on Thursday September 22. Darla Hudson placed FIRST for Chaplain and Debbie Pool placed 2 nd for Electa. Congratulations to both Darla and Debbie. Warpole Chapter is proud of both of you! Warpole Chapter received the Gold Chapter Excellence Award for demonstrating excellence in the areas of Charity & Service, Social Activities & Fellowship, and Ritual Quality & Officer Excellence. This is the 4 th year that our chapter has been recognized for their hard work, as we received the Silver Award in 2013 and Gold Award every year since. Roberta and Steve Ekleberry, Worthy Matron and Patron for 2016 accepted the award. Appointments for 2017 include Marla Barber, DGM for a second year and Carol Grubel, District Charities Director. Congratulations to both of you!
