We would love to have you come and join us!
4 MUSIC MUSINGS July 2016 Thank you, John, for your dedicated and faithful service. You are a role model for our youth and a blessing to our parish! St. James Financial Dashboard May 2016 May YTD YTD Budget Pledged Income $36, $170, $169, Other Income 3, , , Total Income 40, , Total Expense 31, , , Where is your happy place? I think everyone has one, though sometimes in this crazy busy world it can be hard to find! My happy place is the beach; it provides a sense of calm and time for reflection as I ponder the beauty of God s creation as well as His faithfulness. Paul and I will once again be spending a fair amount of time at our favorite beach spot this summer, coming back and forth between there and Leesburg to play for worship each week. While beaching it, I use a good bit of my time really trying to discern where God is leading as I plan music for the fall and Christmas seasons here at St. James. Being there helps clear my mind of the daily distractions that often cloud my brain, giving me the opportunity to view ministry in fresh new ways. I look forward to what God will do this summer, and I hope many of you will consider joining in the music-making this fall. I am also looking forward to beautiful music for worship in July, and I know you will enjoy the variety that is represented in the various solo and duet offerings: July 3 Deb Carraway (organ) Eternal Father, Strong to Save & America the Beautiful July 10 Alex Northcott TBA July 17 Tom Grizzard Give Me Jesus July 24 Beth Williams I Want Jesus to Walk With Me July 31 Tom and Linda Grizzard Fill My Cup, Lord Thanks to all who contributed to the Tulip Fund. The tulip bulbs have been ordered. They will arrive in late September or early October and will go directly to cold storage for their winter. Our committee will plant in late January, and we should have a show in late February for about two weeks. I have a bit left over for a start for the following year, if you wish. Thank you all! Jody Stokes Be blessed, everyone, as you enjoy your summertime happy places, and join us at St. James as often as you are able! Deb Carraway p.s. Stay tuned for the return of the Summer Singing Saints in August. Anyone can join, any age, and we gather on Sunday mornings to rehearse for worship. Tune your voices to sing God s praise and join us on August 7, 14, and 21 all are welcome!!

Stephen Ministry organizes and equips gifted laypeople to multiply the care a Pastor can provide. Stephen Ministers bring Christ s care to their care receivers. They trust God to bring about the healing and wholeness that God promises. They are well-trained caregivers who also know the importance of remaining connected to Jesus. They trust God to work through them to bring the love of Jesus to their care receivers. You might have heard about Stephen Ministry, and perhaps you experienced it first-hand in a previous congregation. It is currently active in in thousands of congregations from more than 160 denominations, and to date more than 600,000 laypersons have been trained as Stephen Ministers. At the present time, St. James is giving serious consideration to establishing a Stephen Ministry in our congregation. Caring for people in need is at the heart of a congregational ministry. Pastors and congregations may exhaust themselves trying to meet these needs but their best efforts often fall short. The Pastor often provides immediate care at the onset of a crisis, but frequently there is no one to provide ongoing follow-up care. Laypeople may want to help, but many lack the knowledge, skills and confidence to care effectively. With Stephen Ministry, people no longer have to go through crises and difficulties alone. Instead, they have a Stephen Minister a well-trained, caring, Christian friend who will walk alongside them for as long as necessary, providing the emotional and spiritual care they need. We ask for your prayers as we consider the viability of Stephen Ministry in our congregation.
