2 EASTER FLOWERS If you would like to make a donation for the Easter flowers in honor or memory of someone, please take an Easter Flower envelope, available on the table at the church entrance or in Fisher House. Please have the information in the office by Thursday, April 6th, to ensure listing in the Easter bulletin. A PRAYER FOR OUR FUTURE As our capital campaign continues, we invite you to join together in praying the following prayer that was composed by members of the parish and the rector. O God, Giver of all good gifts. We thank You for the grace of serving You by serving our neighbors. May our hearts be kind and generous. May our ministry be rooted in love and bold in imagination. In transforming the First Church, renew our lives and all who join us so the community may be changed by Your love and the power of the Spirit. Amen. FIRST CHURCH BUILDING UPDATE On Wednesday, March 1 st, members of the FCBC, as well as Rev. Warner and Jim Vieira, project manager, met with Tom Lee, our landscape architect and architect John Keenan. Our landscape and parking plans were reviewed; paving materials were discussed, and the overall landscape plan was very favorably accepted. John Keenan then presented his revisions for the interior of the building as well as a redesign of the lancet windows. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 15 th at 3:30 PM. Samples of paving materials and trim will be reviewed in advance of our historic district commission hearing on Thursday, April 6 th. * On an upcoming Sunday yet to be determined, there will be a tour of the First Church for parishioners. We had hoped to do it last week, but postponed it due to the low temperatures. Stay tuned, please. We ll reschedule as soon as possible. Friends, we are in the home stretch of finalizing plans! We will be setting up a parish wide meeting on Sunday April 23 rd, after Coffee Hour, to present our completed landscape and building plans. Thank you to all who have shared your energy, time, donations and thoughts on our project. It is amazing to see it all coming together! - Terry Soares, Chairperson of the FCBC AN UPDATE FROM THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE Dear Friends, As many of you know, we have raised close to $1,200,000 so far, but our work continues. Many of you have given generously either by pledge or a one-time gift. A few of you have yet to respond. In the next few weeks a letter nudging you to remember us may appear in your mailbox. Some of us are off to warmer climates for a bit, but rest assured, plans are being formulated for events this summer to involve even more people as we continue going Back to our Future! We are immensely grateful for the extraordinary generosity of so many people. Buy online at For more information call WOODS HOLE MEDITATION GROUP: Mondays, 3-4 PM, Fisher House A weekly meditation group has been formed and is open to any and all in the community. We are meeting on Mondays in Fisher House from 3 4 PM. The format will include 15 minutes of introductions, 30 minutes of sitting with brief instructions and 15 minutes afterwards for people to gather informally. The leaders include several people who are experienced meditators and have done some teaching. I welcome this opportunity to continue to open our doors to people in the parish and community who wish to spend some quiet time in community at the beginning of the week. Deborah OFFERING ENVELOPES AVAILABLE If you wish to use offering envelopes in which to put your Sunday offering, please speak Nancy McDonald in the office and she will be happy to provide you with them. CHOIR REHEARSALS Wednesdays at 6:15 PM Choir rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 6:15 PM. The Handchime Choir rehearsals follow at 7:15 PM. New members are always welcome to join both groups. 4 NEW VOLUNTEERS WELCOME AT THE VILLAGE AT CATAUMET: Next Monthly Dinner, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 5PM We re serving dinner to our neighbors at the Village at Cataumet, the shelter for families, on the first Wednesday of every month. This is a continuing ministry and we always welcome new cooks and new servers. Look for a sign-up sheet in the back of the church on Sunday morning and join us. We are trying to show our neighbors that we care about their difficult situation. Help once a year or once a month every contribution is welcome! FALMOUTH SERVICE CENTER Statistics for 2016 Annually 54,000 bags of food were distributed in the FSC pantry 600 new households registered for food 2,100 households, including close to 5,000 individuals, came regularly to the pantry 20 Community Meals fed an average of 200 people per meal 30 Mobile Fresh markets delivered food to the Falmouth School Community and Joint Base Cape Cod military households children received Fresh Start back to school items 700 Thanksgiving baskets were distributed 725 Falmouth children received toys $860,000 value of food donated by the community and reclamation Weekly 15 tons of food came into FSC An average of 250 households came to the food pantry An average of 650 volunteer hours were donated to FSC programs FALMOUTH SERVICE CENTER Like us on Facebook 4
