Nuccio, GRAND KNIGHT S MESSAGE Brother Knights Our Installation of Council Officers is now complete. Many thanks to the Installation Chairman Bob Vezzuso for the great job. Also, many thanks to our DD Steve Cummins and Kings County Board of District Deputies Chairman Jim LaSalle and his team for doing such a professional job. There were many DD's and DW's on hand to make sure it went off without a hitch, and there was a nice collation put out after the Installation for all to enjoy. Next on the Council s agenda is the Officers Training Seminar at Baron DeKalb Council on Wednesday, September 30th. All Officers should to attend this so that you will understand the duties of your office. Please try to make every effort to attend. 3 Columbiette News Dear Sister Columbiettes: At our first business meeting of the new Columbian year, I was glad to see many of my sisters in attendance. I hope this keeps up at future meetings and we can be together as a group to discuss future events and anything else on our agenda. We welcome our new coordinator, Michael Bacolo, who will keep us informed about Brother Knight s different events. A few socials were discussed. Night At the Races, Las Vegas Night, 4 Seasons Night. And of course as definite dates are Secured, I will pass it on to you with all the particulars. Keep tuned to future bulletins. Many prayers and get well wishes to Jean Angelo's husband, and Past Grand Knight Gus Angelo, and to Sister Columbiette Ann Cagnetto who is undergoing surgery. 4 Council News Installation of Officers Brothers, I am extremely disappointed in the members interest in the Installation of Officers, especially the newer members who are unfamiliar with the protocols and traditions that the Knights of Columbus and Cavallaro Council have built and maintained that make this order and this council strong. A gala event was planned for Saturday, September 12. The only people who committed to attend were the officers. This event was mentioned in the monthly newsletter and at the August meeting. Because of the lack of interest, that event needed to be cancelled so as not to waste money from our treasury on food, table setups, DJ, etc. The Grand Knight and officers decided to hold the installation on the Business Meeting night on September 8, just prior to the meeting. All members were notified via Calling Post Messaging Service that we use for these circumstances. Again, attendance was a great disappointment for both the installation and the regular business meeting scheduled for that night. There was important business to be discussed and with no member attendance, this business was decided amongst the officers. I am curious as to why you joined the Knights and our Council if you are not going to get involved. You were Page 4 of 16 Always Remember 9/11/01

asked this at your interview before you took your first degree. And I'm sure everyone said there would be some interest in helping and supporting our Council.

We don't ask 100%, but we do ask for some involvement. You are the leaders of tomorrow. The men who are running the council today are not going to be here forever. Your lack of interest makes me wonder what the future of our Council is. We need your help and support so we can pass along our knowledge and keep our Council and our Order strong. The donations have dwindled, but the cry still goes out for help. Please remember to bring (at least) one item of non-perishable food when you come to the council. There is also a jar for cash donations. If each of use does a little, it helps a lot. We are fortunate that we have food on our table every night. Please help those who are not so fortunate. 8 Past Grand Knight Testimonial On Saturday October 24, 2015 the Council will celebrate a testimonial dinner & dance Honoring our Past Grand Knight, Tony Corso. There will be a cocktail hour starting at 7:30 and dinner will follow and include an open bar. For our dancing pleasure, we will have MµSIC n CxT entertain us. It is a customary practice for Cavallaro Council to pay tribute to and acknowledge our Past Grand Knights. This night will be a special evening for Tony and his family as well as all of our members. Please try to set this date aside and share the evening with us. Tickets MUST be paid for in advance, so please contact Chairman Carl Bartolotti at ; ticket price is $40.00 pp. Carl Bartolotti, PGK-FDD-PCC Chairman Halloween Party 2015 Attention guys, ghouls, monsters and oddballs! Friday October 30th, will mark the 7 th Anniversary of the Knights of Columbus Cavallaro Council Halloween Party! Admission is $20 which includes hot food, soft drinks, water, candy, cupcakes and much more. There will be a cash bar and the night will also feature great music by Next Level Entertainment, dancing, costume contests and raffles. As always, we encourage our guests to be creative when it comes to their costume. Last year s event had many great guests. Cavallaro Council was a packed house with Ronald McDonald, The Big Bad Wolf (with Red Riding Hood of course), JFK and Marilyn Monroe. The Halloween Party is also open to family and friends, so feel free to bring them along! In order to make sure we have enough food and goodies for everyone, please purchase your tickets by Thursday October 22 nd. Doors will open at 7:45 PM and the party starts at 8:00 PM.
