1 MT. ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH th St. S. Hudson, WI APRIL 2016 Christ is Risen! Allelujah and Happy Easter! For me, I think the best way to rejoice is to laugh. Proverbs 17:22 says that A cheerful heart is the best medicine. We are celebrating the Easter season with Holy Humor Sunday on April 3 rd. Everyone is invited to join us for worship, rejoicing and laughter! What better way to celebrate our risen Lord? As a little teaser, here are a couple of my favorite church jokes One Sunday in a Midwest City, a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before leaving the sanctuary, the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!" A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, Then how come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service." The Top 10 Things You NEVER Hear in Church 1. I was so enthralled, I never noticed your sermon went over time 25 minutes. 2. Personally, I find witnessing much more enjoyable than golf. 3. I've decided to give our church the $ a month I used to send to TV evangelists. 4. I volunteer to be the permanent teacher for the Junior High Sunday School class. 5. There is nothing we like better than change! 6. I love it when we sing hymns I've never heard before! 7. Since we're all here, let's start the worship service early! 8. Pastor, we'd like to send you to this Bible seminar in the Bahamas. 9. Nothing inspires me and strengthens my commitment like our annual stewardship campaign! 10. Hey! It's MY turn to sit on the front pew! Blessings, Pastor Erin

NON-BUDGET EXPLANATION Answer to the question regarding the 2015 Non-budget expense line item being so high. This line item includes all non budget expenses, but also includes expenses that are pass through items. For example, Monies brought in for Easter flowers go into the General fund, and when we pay for the flowers it goes under the non-budget line item as an expense. Also, when we need to transfer money from our Associated bank Capital Fund and send to Mission Investment Capital account, the funds are transferred to the General Fund and then expensed through the Non-Budget line item. MT. ZION S PRAYER CHAIN: One of the privileges of being part of the body of Christ is the opportunity to share in the joy and the sorrow of others. If you have a special prayer request or would like to place someone on the prayer chain, please call the church office at (715) or the Prayer Chain Leader: Joyce Johnson and we will make sure to add that person to our prayer list.
