4 Wellbeing Team Patsy Bowden Wellbeing Coordinator I can t believe 2018 is gone and we are now in February First we want to greet you a Happy New Year. Just a short recap of the past two months activities. Last December, we were busy with lovely events starting with a lot of school students coming in almost every week to sing Christmas carols to our residents. On a beautiful warm day the residents went out to have a lovely picnic at Halswell Quarry. They loved the Christmas minced pies which they themselves enjoyed baking. Going with the holiday spirit, the Starlight theater played Christmas movies every Friday which the residents enjoyed watching. We had Amy show the residents how to paint some Christmas stockings, which they got to keep and hang in their bedroom. It was a fun and relaxing afternoon! Thanks to Rose Fashions for coming with their new collection of clothing to sell. Mid-December, we had the residents and family Christmas picnic followed by Christmas carols. It was a great evening with a beautiful concert and very wellattended. We also had a wheelchair outing to Colombo on a beautiful afternoon. On Christmas eve we had a morning tea followed by Santa and helpers distributing gifts. Residents enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch with the Sisters of Nazareth. Lots of family came to have a sumptuous lunch prepared by Nazareth catering. Employees were very helpful and had fun as well while a volunteer came in to play the piano. Not forgetting the New Year s eve, we had the bag pipes at 5.00pm in the courtyard and all around Nazareth. Thanks to all the volunteers who came in to help with the holiday activities. In January, residents had lots of walks in the garden, trying to make the most of the summer. They also enjoyed a trip around the city and some activities in the courtyard. The residents loved the afternoon outings around Nazareth community with volunteers helping them. The one-on-one with the residents was so much fun with lots of laughter. A selection of great movies are enjoyed weekly by the residents at Starlight theater. A lovely afternoon was spent reminiscing on what we did for Christmas. Lots of planned activities and happenings for the residents in the coming months. Thanks for all your help and support.
