1 A NOT E FROM Rabbi Herzfeld and Maharat Friedman Shana To ov a הבוט הנש One of the most important Jewish principles is kol Yisrael areivim ze bazeh. This phrase is most commonly translated as all of Israel are responsible for one another, but in truth there is no perfect English translation of areivut. Areivut implies that all members of the Jewish community share a fundamental connection that binds us to each other. As a result of this extraordinary connection we also become responsible for one another and our individual identities become inseparable from the collective. Ohev Sholom is blessed to have grown so much in the past 14 years. We have transformed from a small community in which everyone knows each other to a large and dynamic community. In order to help our shul maintain the friendliness and warmth that has sustained us for the past years, this year we are focusing our programming around the theme of areivut and reinforcing community and unity. We look forward to a wonderful year in Please join us! Shmuel & Ruth Visit ostns.org for Holiday Reservations Services & Seats Events & Classes Donate Online Join Us! Don't miss the opportunity to celebrate 5779 with Ohev Sholom - The National Synagogue. ostns.org/highholidays Prefer paper forms? Call us at (202) or info@ostns.org
