2 Dear Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El Community, Soon we will welcome in the New Year 5775 with the sound of the shofar and with our prayers to be inscribed in the Book of Life and Blessing. We want to extend our best wishes to each of you for these High Holy Days. We know that these Days of Awe are ones made holy by our ancient traditions as a people in our relationship to God, time and space, and ones also sanctified through our personal stories and memories. We know that this Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will be a time to celebrate with family and with your temple. We are looking forward to the multitude of blessings we will share as a temple family in the year to come through the cycles and seasons of our lives. In the weeks ahead, may you find time to reflect, engage in meaningful teshuvah, stock up on honey, and share laughter with family and friends as we prepare for these Holy Days. לשנה טובה ומתוקה Wishing you a happy and a sweet New Year, Howard Needleman - Senior Rabbi Mark Goldman - Cantor Dr. Sheldon J. Harr - Founding Rabbi Emeritus
3 A Letter from Our President Dear Fellow Congregants, Debi, Max, Jonah,Olivia and I look forward to seeing our friends and meeting new friends as we celebrate the High Holy Days together as a temple family. We enjoy these times because we worship together as a Jewish community, not as individuals. We are taking inventory of our year. Have we been the best we can be? How can we try to improve in the year ahead? This is both a personal inventory and a communal one. Please bring your entire family as we are all part of our temple family. We look forward to welcoming you. L Shalom, Jason Chalik President, Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El

9 Tzedakah - Giving Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El strives to create a Temple family for all our members. Since our inception we have celebrated thousands of b nai mitzvah, and uncounted numbers of baby namings, consecrations, confirmations, weddings, anniversaries and other joyous life-cycle events. We have also stood by each other during challenging times: a shoulder to cry on, someone to hug, a caring committee to help with shiva this is our Temple family. Your charitable contributions to Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El will help ensure that the values and ideas, the celebrations and unique occasions, which have linked our people in an unbreakable chain of tradition for three thousand years will be perpetuated for future generations. Your contributions will have a meaningful effect on the lives of the thousands to whom Kol Ami Emanu-El is home as well as the people beyond our walls who we continue to help. Yom Kippur Annual Food Drive...Our Tradition Continues On your way out of the synagogue on Rosh Hashanah morning you will be given an empty shopping bag. Please return it full of non-perishable food items on Yom Kippur. All food will be donated to the WECARE food pantry. The WECARE community outreach program operates a food pantry that provides over 3,500 bags of groceries each year to our neighbors in need regardless of race, religion, age, gender or nationality. They could not accomplish this important mitzvah if not for the generous donations they receive year round from caring communities just like ours at TKAE! As always, parking spaces in our main lot are limited. Please cooperate with our security and police officers! Thank you in advance for making sure that all of your Temple obligations are current. Remembering Our Loved Ones ZACHER TZADDIK LIVRACHA The Memory of the Righteous is for an Eternal Blessing Jewish tradition impels us to remember our loved ones especially during special and significant times throughout the year. The High Holy Days provide that opportunity to recall their presence in our midst, through the participation in a number of possible vehicles at Temple. Participation in the High Holy Days Memorial Book, which is distributed at Yizkor Services on Yom Kippur, is a hallowed tradition within our congregation. There is also the Flower Fund, which provides flowers for the aesthetic enhancement of the Sanctuary during the Holy Days.
