2 Our Holiday events were a lot of fun. The Children enjoyed meeting Santa and watching a free movie during our Santa Visit. The cold weather did not stop everyone from coming our for our Menorah and Tree Lightings. Both events were well attended. Thank you Debby Izzo for all your hard work and a special thank you to everyone who volunteered To the businesses on Bedford Avenue who decorated their businesses for the holidays, thank you. You made the horse and carriage and Trolley rides much more festive. Our Installation Dinner is coming up next month. 4 On November 16th the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores helped Storm Boutique celebrate their first Anniversary with a ribbon cutting. Congratulations! On Saturday, December 8th, the coworkers of Emilio Manzo from All Island Taxi dedicated a bench on Pettit Avenue in his memory. 4

5 On Friday November 23 rd, the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores held the annual Santa Run. The event started with Santa arriving by fire truck at the Stop & Shop Shopping Center. Fire trucks from Bellmore Fire Department. escorted Santa from Stop & Shop to North Shore Farms and then on to Ace Hardware Store in the Ace Shopping Plaza on Merrick Rd. After visiting with children at those 3 stops, Santa then proceeded to the Bellmore Movies and Show Place. All the children waiting took their turn in going up on stage and sitting on Santa s lap to tell him about Christmas wishes and had pictures taken with our new photography backdrop. After seeing and talking to Santa the children were given candy canes and a small gift before watching this year s free movie Small Foot courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores. Many thanks to Anne and Henry Stampfel, long time members of the chamber, for use of the theater and a big hug and thanks to all those that made the day a huge success with a special thank you to the Bellmore Fire Department. 5

6 Menorah Lighting On Wednesday December 5 th, the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores presented its Annual Menorah Lighting. Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein from Congregation Beth Ohr led us in prayer as we lit the 4 th light in our beautiful 10 ft. Menorah. The children from the Hebrew School sang traditional Chanukah songs. The children were treated to chocolate gelt and wonderful Chanukah giveaways compliments of the Chamber of the Bellmores. 6

7 Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Extravaganza On Friday December 7 th, the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores held the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Extravaganza in the Village. The area was bursting with families all bundled up for the cold and enjoying the horse drawn carriage rides and the trolley ride. Santa helped light the tree with his elf and special guest, 5 year old, Luis Melendez. Santa arrived in style this year riding on the back of a convertible. Everyone enjoyed watching and listening to the North Bellmore Select Chorus as they sung traditional songs. Pastor John and the members Connect Church presented a live nativity for all to see. After which he gave a blessing. The Bellmore Kiwanis Club gave out cookies and hot chocolate to help spread the warmth. KJOY 98.3FM played music and had the spinning wheel hard at work giving away prizes. A Big Thank You to all our sponsors for the event. Clair S. Bartholomew Funeral Home, Ridgewood Savings Bank, Family Fence, Merrick Collision, Belair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Zagarino Realty, As You Wish, Built Well Solar, And the Town Of Hempstead for donating use of the Show mobile.
