Approval of Minutes 2.1 Resolution: To approve the Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Education of March 10, 2011, as presented. 2.2 Resolution: To approve the Minutes of the special meeting of the Board of Education of March 17, 2011, as presented. 2.3 Resolution: To approve the Minutes of the special meeting of the Board of Education of March 24, 2011, as presented. 2.4 Resolution: To approve the Minutes of the special meeting of the Board of Education of April 7, 2011, as presented. 3. Special Presentation: Student recognition 4. Visitors (Agenda Items Only) 5. Correspondence 6. Reports of Treasurer 7. Board Committee Reports/High School Report 8. Finance 8.1 The Board of Education acknowledges the review of the warrants that have been approved by the Internal Auditor. 9. Report of the Superintendent 9.1 The Superintendent recommends that, due to fiscal constraints, the Board of Education abolish one position in the subject area of physical education effective June 30, 2011
2 9.2 The Superintendent recommends that, as a result of the abolition of one position of physical education, due to fiscal constraints, the Board of Education discontinue the services of Mandy Heigh, effective, June 30, 2011, as she is the teacher with the least seniority in the physical education tenure area. 9.3 Resolution: To approve the Superintendent s recommendation to increase the physical education staff by one half time position, effective 9/1/ Resolution: To approve the Personnel Report dated April 14, Resolution: To approve the Staff Development Report dated April 14, The Superintendent of Schools recommends approval of all resolutions included in 9.0 through Business Department Update 11. Buildings & Grounds Update 12. Curriculum & Instruction Update 13. Special Education 13.1 Resolution: To approve the CPSE and CSE reports dated April 7, New Business 14.1 Resolution: To approve the following contracts for the 2010/11 school year: -East Rockaway UFSD -Nassau Board of Cooperative Services -North Merrick UFSD -South Huntington UFSD 14.2 Resolution: To accept a donation from the Iannone family of lumber for the Park Avenue School Community Garden, valued at $ Resolution: To accept an anonymous donation of garden grade soil for the Park Avenue School Community Garden, valued at $ Resolution: To accept a donation from Long Island Compost for the Park Avenue School Community Garden, valued at $ Resolution: To accept an anonymous donation of garden supplies, including screws (valued at $47) and paper flower pot makers (valued at 64.95) for the Park Avenue School Community Garden Resolution: To accept a donation of seeds from Hicks Nursery (valued at $30) for the Park Avenue School Community Garden Resolution: To accept a donation from the American Heart Association of an automated external defibrillator, including a data card, carrying case, medical fast response kit, adult pads, pediatric pads, and an extra lithium battery pack with a five year warrant. (Total retail price is $1,495). to the Park Avenue Elementary School 14.8 Resolution: To declare obsolete and approve the disposal of an Artley clarinet, Serial #209496, located at Park Avenue School. 2
3 14.9 Resolution: To approve the designation of Newsday as the official district newspaper for the purpose of the Nassau County Transportation Consortium Resolution: WHEREAS, a number of public school districts in Nassau County wish to jointly solicit proposals, together with the Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services ( BOCES ) for pupil transportation services for the school year (and any renewal period) in accordance with the applicable provisions of General Municipal Law; WHEREAS, the public school districts and the BOCES have agreed to form a Cooperative (the Cooperative ) for this purpose; WHEREAS, the North Bellmore School District, is desirous of participating in the Cooperative for joint solicitation of proposals for pupil transportation services as authorized by General Municipal Law, Section in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Inter-Municipal Cooperative Transportation Agreement attached hereto; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education authorizes the North Bellmore School District to participate in the Cooperative. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Education hereby approves the Inter-Municipal Cooperative Transportation Agreement attached hereto and authorizes the Board President to execute the Agreement on behalf of the Board of Education BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approve the Nassau County Directors of School Facilities Purchasing Consortium Cooperative Bidding Resolution for the school year as per the attached BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the North Bellmore Board of Education approve the district s participation in the 2011/12 Educational Data Services, Inc Cooperative Time and material Skill Trade Bid and Ancillary Operational Supply, Services and Equipment Bid on File in the Business Office. 15.
