Greetings of the blessed and glorious month of Ramadan to Eminent and distinguished Maraje and Ulema, the Muslim Ummah and Mu mineen and Mu minaat of Greater Chicago. The auspicious month of Ramadan has arrived again. It is a month of blessings, mercy and forgiveness of Allah and supplications, devotion and repentance of His servants. In this month we need to fulfill the rights and obligations towards Allah and rights and obligations towards people. We need to remember and inculcate the sense of hunger of the hungry and help the helpless. Be conscious of the needs of the Muslims around the world and be mindful of needy people in our own city. We should not waste a single day, an hour or a single moment of this blessed month. We should spend our valuable time in devotion towards Almighty Allah. Recite Qur an everyday as much as possible. Exert our time in prayers and supplications. Perform daily prayers with Jama at with family at any Islamic center every day. Give charity (Sadaqa) generously and in abundance. Be more kind to others and especially to our spouse, children, family and friends. Do away with differences, and forgive others as we seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah. I pray; Allah for the sake of Infallibles Fourteen to grant us the ability (Taufeeq) to fulfill our obligations and to attain the benefits of this another opportunity provided to us in our life to purify our hearts, strengthen our faith and elevate our spirituality. I request all Mu mineen and Mu minaat to pray for the expansion of IEC Husaini, more success for Hadi School and completion of Wadi us-salaam Valley of Peace Cemetery project and other projects in the community. Pray for others before praying for yourself. It is a holy month when Mercy and Blessings are showered on the Mu mineen. It is also a month of charity and goodwill to mankind. The sawaab is manifold. The Holy Prophet (Blessings and benedictions be upon him and his Progeny) has exhorted us repeatedly to do good deeds and donate in such a way so that the sawaab is extended to you in this World and in the Hereafter. Your institution, IEC is in need of your donations. Our monthly expenses have increased due to the annexation of our property within the jurisdiction of the city of Glendale Heights. Currently planning is underway to at least get city water and lay sewage lines which is our urgent need. Our last hurdle is to respond to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. It has been evidenced that photographs taken in the LH sometimes will capture ladies, mostly in the background, who have neither consented to being photographed nor are even aware that they are being photographed. As we are well aware, digital photographs can easily circulate via the internet and may cause an individual s privacy to be compromised. The LH serves as private and secure area for Ladies where the Islamic hijab may be removed. The privacy of Mu minaat attending IEC programs is most important. IEC understands clearly that it is never any person s intent to photograph others without consent; mostly this just happens innocently. It is IEC s responsibility to follow through on this request. If you must take pictures, please speak with a member of the IEC Ladies Committee (LC) first. Let them know your desire to take pictures. The LC will ensure that those Mu minaat, if any, in the background of your camera shot are aware and consent to being photographed.
