Rajinder Datta -do- N.D-59 a very big leap forward. He said that huge data of about 580 eligible boys & girls had been collected. The Khanna sabha had handled around 1200 people very ably and everything was done in an excellent manner. He, however, felt that work at the grass root level by the various local sabhas in regard to matrimonial help was lacking and there was need to address the concerns of parents in areas where such help was lacking. Responding to the opinions expressed, Shri Vinod Dutt stated that the idea was to have the Mohyal Mela also, along with the Matrimonial Mela and that, having other events had not resulted in any shortcoming, as far as matrimonial assistance provided at the Mela was concerned. The objective of bringing together the parents/guardians of the boys and girls on one platform and facilitate their interaction had been achieved. Learning from the experience from the similar Mela organized by the local sabha in 2005, some changes had been brought out in the collection and dissemination of data. A number calls had also been received, besides actual participation by parents/guardians at the Mela. About 510 data had been generated, all of which had been uploaded on the website. Nearby local sabhas also had been involved in the organization of the Mela. It was decided that the website of MS Khanna will be linked with the GMS website, so as to provide a wider reach for the data uploaded. Involvement of Youth: Shri Yogesh Mehta said that the local sabhas should take the initiative to involve the youth in its activities. For this, modern means of communication like the SMS should be made use of for contacting the people, besides doorto-door contacts, where necessary. Shri Abhishek Datta, s/o Shri P.K.Datta, while praising the GMS for growing by leaps & bounds, felt that the Mohyal youth also should be more concerned and get involved, and do more for the community. Speedy Recovery: Before concluding, the house wished speedy recovery to Rzd. B.D. Bali, with the wish that he will attend all future meetings of the Managing Committee. The meeting concluded, after the recitation of Gayatri Mantra and Shanti Path. Members then dispersed to partake in the sumptuous lunch hosted by Shri P.K. Datta. HINDU RITUALS AND ROUTINES Why do we follow them? SERIES 6 Why do we offer food to the Lord before eating it? Indians make an offering of food to the Lord and, later, partake of it as Prasaada a holy gift from the Lord, in our daily ritualistic worship (Pooja) of the Lord. The Lord is omnipotent and omniscient. Man is a part, while the Lord is totality. All that we do is by His strength and knowledge alone. Hence, what we receive in life, as a result of our actions, is, in reality, His alone. We acknowledge this, through the act of offering food to Him. This is exemplified by the Hindi words tera tujko arpan (I offer what is Yours to You). Thereafter, it is akin to His gift to us, graced by His divine touch. Once we realize this, our entire attitude towards food and the act of its eating changes. The food offered will naturally be pure and the best. We share what we get with others, before consuming it. We do not demand, complain or criticize the quality of the food we get. We eat it with cheerful acceptance. Before we partake of our daily meals, we first sprinkle water around the plate, as an act of purification. Five morsels of food are placed on the side of the plate, acknowledging the debt owed by us to the Divine forces (Devta Runa ), for their benign grace and protection; our ancestors (Pitru Runa), for giving us their lineage and a family culture; the sages (Rishi Runa), as our religion and culture have been realized, maintained and handed down to us by them; our fellow beings (Manushya Runa), who constitute society, without the support of which we could not live as we do; and other living beings (Bhuta Runa), for serving us selflessly. Thereafter, the Lord, the life force, which is also within us, as the five life-giving physiological functions, is offered the food. This is done with the chants Praanaaya Swaahaa, Vyaanaaya Swaahaa, Samaanaaya Swaahaa, Apaanaaya Swaahaa, Udaanaaya Swaahaa, Brahmane Swaahaa. After offering the food thus, it is eaten as Prasaada blessed food. Compiled by: Col. T.N. Mehta M.S. 6 MESSAGE FROM RAMA FOUNDATION CAMBRIDGE (ENGLAND) Greetings from Cambridge to our Mohyal sisters, brothers and elders! Our team is delighted that the GMS Management Committee has, in their meeting, on the 10th March 2013, agreed, in principle, to embarking on collaboration with us centred at the Sewa Sadan at the Haridwar Mohyal Ashram. Rama Foundation is a Cambridge-based registered Charity involved in sustainable development initiatives in India. Our prime focus is on the empowerment of disadvantaged people, for the present, their infant daughters, at the grassroot-level, through local organizations, and to raise awareness about this cause in the UK. Ours is a skill-based Charity, aiming to do professional contribution in education, health and well-being, starting off with enrolment of 5 such infant girls, every year, into the new nursery school, recently established by the GMS. We aim to transform this into a Model Nursery School, another world-class education institution of the GMS, for the benefit of all, and reaching those suffering social injustice, at present, and, working to age-old Mohyal tradition, and, closely with Rzd. B. D. Bali and his team, to create an Early Years Education and Teacher Development Centre of Excellence. Mehta O. P. Mohan, in his Editorial in the Mohyal Mitter of February 2013, while highlighting the disturbing trend of atrocities on young girls and women, has rightly called upon our community for increased female participation. Rama Foundation is responding to his call for empowering our women and involve and give pride of place to them, by putting three of your Mohyal professional daughters at helm of its affairs, with immediate focus on education, and, in time, in the important areas of health and well-being of infant girls and poor mothers, undergoing tremendous hardships. We invite our Mohyal sisters and others to join us in these efforts, by expressing their interest, in writing, through the local Mohyal sabhas and the GMS Secretariat; perhaps, also like us, becoming individual life members and sending in their details to our Team in Cambridge, doing joint placements with our volunteers! Even if you are unable to involve yourself actively at present in our efforts, we shall be delighted to have your support and good wishes. We are grateful to the management of the GMS for giving us an opportunity to briefly share our collaborative efforts with you all and request that this is shared widely, especially with young professionals. It was a comfortable and pleasant stay at the Ashram, which is well-located and nicely built, for which all credit goes to Rzd. B. D. Bali and his team. The Ashram is in its initial stage and needs some improvement on the food management side. Shri Sharma, a smiling man, is doing his best to provide comfort to the visitors. I am very thankful to him for providing the Navratra Vrat food, especially for me, despite there being no previous arrangement for people, who were on fast, which really made me feel very homely at the Ashram. Vrindavan Ashram is one of the biggest achievements of the Mohyals and we are very sure that there are many more to come. We congratulate all the member of the GMS and, especially, Rzd. B.D.Bali, for their achievements and leaving such a heritage for generations to come. We, as members of the Bhai Mati Dass Mohyal Charitable Society & Vijay Pal Charitable Trust, are committed to work for the welfare of the community and we invite Mohyals, who want to serve the community. As per our plans, we will organize many more Health Camps, in different cities, for the needy people of society. We invite and request all Mohyals to visit the Vrindavan Ashram and give their valuable suggestions for improvement of the services. Jai Mohyal! Rakesh Vaid Sec. On my 68 th birthday, on 15 May 2013, I can not forget to add about the march towards prosperity by Mohyals. I pay my respect and gratitude to the great sons and daughters of Mohyal biradari, who toiled hard to secure a separate identity in Mohyal History. I convey my special regards to Rzd. B.D. Bali Sahib and his entire team, who proceeded, untiringly, with the planning, coordination and timely implementation of the noble work for the community, which needs no elaboration. In fact, credit for this goes to the leader for the achievements like building of shrines at the Mohyal Ashrams at Delhi, Haridwar, Vrindavan, Goverdhan; conducting Matrimonial Melas; assistance to orphans, widows, needy Mohyals etc. These will be remembered by generations to come. I wish Bali Sahib a long & healthy life. 10 Sir, I had attended the General Body Meeting of GMS on along with my wife Mrs. Karuna Chhibber. Immediately on our alighting in front of the gate of Mohyal Foundation, we were greeted by one gentleman, with the slogan JAI MOHYAL, and he offered us a glass of packed water, along with one printed sheet of paper. On reading it, I was dismayed because of its divisive and defamatory contents and tenor. That gentleman continued with said reprehensible activities throughout the programme & was trying to spread misinformation among participating members. During the programme, after our esteemed President, Rzd. B. D. Bali, had spoken & the Annual Budget was presented by the Vice President, for approval of the general body, chance was given to speakers to present their views. I was astonished to see that many members had stood up to speak with prejudiced & preconceived set of mind, just to criticise & find fault with the meritorious works & projects undertaken & Rzd. B. D. Bali. It is really unfortunate that such speakers/members, instead of solidly standing behind Rzd. B. D. Bali & the executive body of the GMS, to unite & consolidate the Mohyal biradari, are wasting their energy & efforts to disunite the biradari, by creating discontent and spreading misinformation. Every Mohyal knows what such opportunistic persons have done to the Mohyal Education Society. It is only due to the efforts & influence of Rzd. B. D. Bali & his team of executive members that Mohyal Bhawan at Inderpuri, Mohyal Foundation at Qutab Institutional Area, Mohyal Ashrams at Haridwar & Vrindavan & the coming Mohyal Ashram at Goverdhan could take shape. Had the said disgruntled persons been at the helm of affairs, then, no one in the Govt. Deptts. could have recognized them & land to Mohyal Foundation would not have been allotted by DDA to GMS. I pray to God to grant wisdom, positivity & sense of responsibility & unity to the members, who are misguided & are adopting short cuts to come to the lime light, so that they can become helping hands of Rzd. B. D. Bali & his team of GMS. I also pray to God to give very good health & long life to Rzd. B. D. Bali, so that, under his dynamic leadership & guidance, Mohyal biradari remains united. Let the said disgruntled elements spare time & do something selflessly for maintaining the unity of Mohyals. Jai Mohyal! In the previous quarterly gettogether, held on the 30 th December 2012, Smt. Krishan Lata Chhibber, Secretary (Matrimonial), GMS, had conducted the proceedings, alongwith Shri Sushil Kumar Chhibber, Secretary (Finance), GMS, and Shri Rajiv Chhibber. About 60 persons had attended the get-together. Bio-data of 22 new marriageable boys/girls were received; parents of 10 old registered boys/girls also attended the get-together. The participants included parents from Sonipat, Kurukshetra, Jabalpur, Modi Nagar, Yamuna Nagar, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Paschim Vihar, Mehrauli, Janakpuri, Najafgarh, Rohini, Ashok Vihar, Dwarka, Shahdara and other parts of Delhi. The names of old/new marriageable boys/girls were read out by Shri Sushil Kumar Chhibber and the participants were allowed to interact among themselves, as also to collect information from the list of boys/girls maintained by the GMS. Light refreshments were served, after which the Shaadi Durbar came to a close. Smt. Krishan Lata Chhibber Secretary Matrimonial, GMS 6 TH GRAND MATRIMONIAL MELA HELD AT KHANNA ON MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM MS KHANNA MS Khanna is indeed thankful for the coverage provided by the GMS in Mohyal Mitter of May-20l3, on the Grand Matrimonial Mela, held at Khanna, on The senior functionaries of the GMS have motivated us by applauding that it was a well-organised function. We are also continuously receiving appreciations & congratulations from far-flung areas, lauding the grand success of the function. All this has boosted our morale. More & more references are still pouring in from different families and we are updating the data accordingly in the form of a Data Bank. One set of data of 580 boys & girls was delivered, on the spot, to the President/Secretary of each sabha, for briefing the families of their area. Since one set of 580 wards comprised about 70 pages, it was not practically possible to deliver the set to each participant, who then numbered about The delivery of one set to each participant could have been easily managed, had the data contained only about 100 wards and an equal number of participants. The data, with telephone numbers & addresses, had also been uploaded in our Website: - so that interested families could interact in advance of personal meetings at the function. It is also for general information that we had deliberately omitted, from the Form/Lists, the Manglik/Non-Manglik features, because, as per the opinion of learned Pandits, the marriage of Mangliks can take place with Non-Mangliks, and vice-versa, depending upon the placement & direction of the Stars and higher numbers of Gunh of wards. Thus the matter does not close, just by saying, at the first stage, Manglik or Non-Manglik. In order to ascertain the position of Stars, MS Khanna had, for the first time, engaged 5 Pandits, with Computers. About 370 families had utilised the services of these Pandits for matching kundlis. After updating the data, a revised set has again been sent to every local Mohyal Sabha of that area in April The same is also available on our Website - alongwith Contact Nos. of the President/ Secretary of each sabha, so that the concerned families could contact & interact with each other for finding suitable match for their wards after due verification through President / Secretary concerned. Our approach is to provide transparency in the matter. As was announced at the function by Shri Vinod Kumar Dutt, President, MS Khanna, we are indeed working, and shall be continuously working, on this subject, for the welfare of Mohyal children & families. We are continuously in touch with each sabha and propose to have a meeting, after a couple of months, to analyse the effects of the function held on Any suggestion is welcome, through our Id: millan@mohvalsabhakhanna.com Again expressing our thanks to the GMS and other local sabhas for their support. Rajiv Mehta, Secretary MS Khanna For a bright future in Computers join MERIT Mohyal Mitter / JULY

Every incident gives us an advice, That makes us very wise. We all are different creatures, Whom God has blessed with various features. We are his puppets And our lives are his novels. We all should live with dignity, So that no one in this world could question the humanity. Life is useless without any struggle and adventure. Thus we need to realize their importance. Then why do we consider this beautiful life as a race And not enjoy this God-gifted phase. By: Ms. Sukriti Bali, Granddaughter of the late Sh. Dwarka Nath Bali of Gurgaon WHY ME? No one bothers about me, no one cares. Wherever I go, I get stares. On the road, I walk with my head down. Why should I be targeted in this town? I can t travel about, or visit the malls. Why the whistles and the catcalls? Why the touch without my consent? I am not an object for your contentment. Do you remember you too have a sister? Wherever I go, whatever way I dress. 26 Bau Ji started working at a very young age and was a man of principles. He was offered a bribe of Rupee one and a half, in those times (equivalent to his one month s salary), which he refused and left the Revenue Services. The Dewan family of Kamonkee (Dewan Ram Lal, then Chief Justice of the Punjab High Court) was very helpful. Bau Ji worked as a buyer for Amritsar Sugar Mills and, later on, came to Khanna as Manager, Laxmi Ginning & Oil Mills. I remember Bau Ji going around the G.T. Road, asking for donations of atta, ghee, dal etc., for the Sanskrit Pathshala; free boarding and lodging were provided to the students there. Lala Ji s only photograph, which we have, was taken, after his death, by Labhu Ram, the photographer from Ludhiana. He did some work on Lala Ji s closed eyes; Lala Ji s eyes are wide open in the photograph. 27 ANTIM YATRA MYSTERY OF BIRTH & DEATH The scriptures say that, as a man abandons an old house and goes to a new one, so the Atma, in a body, abandons it, when it grows old, builds another, and lives in it. One does not feel happy, when leaving one s old house, because of long association with it. Likewise, the soul is not happy leaving the body, even if legs are swollen, the body is emaciated into a mere skeleton, and man struggles for breath. Just as man forgets the old house, when the new one is ready, the soul too, when it has a new dwelling, moves into the new abode. Such is the mystery of life & death. If this is so, what cause do we have for fear or grief?
