LETTER FROM CHIEF EDITOR TO MOHYAL YOUTH Dear brothers, sisters & young friends, 31 st march 2013 is a Red Letter Day for M.S Khanna who had organised 6 th Matrimonial Mela in association will other sabhas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh under the aegis of GMS. It was a grand get-to-gather of eligible boys& girls of marriageable age. It was very well organized under the leadership of the Sh. Vinod Dutt, President of Mohyal Sabha Khanna & his team of dedicated workers. It was fabulous in every aspect recept ions of guests, seat ing arrangements, breakfast, lunch, cultural programme, Medical check-up etc. Shri G.S Bali Minister of Transport of Himachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest & General B.K.N Chhibber & Air vice Marsal, S.D Mohan were guests of honour. Almost over 1200 guest, attended this function, and all were very well looked after. There was registration of around 500 eligible boys & girls, whose parents had submitted data of their wards and about 70 contracts for one to one meeting were made and hopefully out of above at least cases would be materlised. Our kudos to Shri Vinod Dutt & his team of workers, who have worked for 3-4 months for preparing data by contacts. Of course Smt. Krishan Lata Chhibber Secretary of Matrimonial Committee of GMS. Played a significant role in helping to organize this mela. I would like to share another big news that our Vinod Dutta of Khanna a young Enterpreneur to initiate Dairy Products Industry in Punjab was honoured with National Award of the Year 2011 on April 03, 2013 which has made community proud. He was also felicitated by the GMS Executive Members in its meeting held on 14 April I and on behalf of the community, extend our greetings and wish him to add more feathers to his cap in future times to come. Talking about youth, I came across an inspiring address given by our illustrious former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, at a function held in Chennai, in January 2013, on the topic Transforming Indians to Transform India. I would like to quote excerpts from the address, which can really be an inspiration to the youth of today. Excerpt from Dr. Kalam s Address The contribution of the youth in the past has continuously enriched the world of today in many fields. Swami Vivekananda said: How has all the knowledge in the world been gained but by the concentration of the power of mind?. There is no limit to the power of the human mind. The more concentrated it is, the more power is brought to bear on one point. That is the secret. History has proven that those who dare to imagine the impossible are the ones, who break all human limitations. In every field of human endeavour, whether science, medicine, sports, the arts or technology, the names of the people who imagined the impossible are engraved in our history. By breaking the limits of their imagination, they changed the world. Examples are very many. When we look up and see the electric bulbs, we are immediately reminded of Thomas Alva Edison for his unique contribution towards the invention of the electric bulb and the electrical lighting system. When we hear the sound of the aeroplane flying over our head, whom do we think of? The Wright brothers, who proved that man could fly; of course, 3

4 at heavy risk and cost. Similarly, the telephone reminds you of Alexander Graham Bell. A great human being with a spirit of service, who also won a Nobel Prize for her contributions, was Mother Teresa. She said and practiced, Give, give and give until it hurts. Dr Kalam said that, over a decade s time, he had met 15 million youth and learnt that Every youth wants to be unique, that is YOU! But the world around you is doing its best, day and night, to make you just everybody else. At home, you are asked by your parents to be like your neighbour s children and score good marks. When you go to school, your teachers ask you why you can t become like the first five rankers in your class. Wherever you go, they say you have to be like somebody else, everybody else! Now, how many of the youth would like to be unique YOURSELF? The challenge is that you have to fight the hardest battle which any human being can ever imagine, and never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined place, that is a unique YOU! Your Tools to fight the battle and achieve the Goal! - Four Proven Steps to Success: 1. Having an aim in life before 20 years of age. 2. Acquiring knowledge continuously. 3. Hard work towards the aim. 4. Perseverance to defeat the problems and succeed. Dr. Kalam to his youthful audience: This is how all unique personalities evolved and this is how all of you can transform yourself into a unique YOU. Above all, you must have the will power and confidence that you can achieve great deeds. In this connection, Dr. Kalam recalled the famous verses of the 13 th century Persian Sufi poet Jalaluddin Rumi: I am born with potential. I am born with goodness and trust. I am born with ides and dreams. I am born with greatness. I am born with confidence. I am born with wings. So, I am not meant for crawling. I have wings, I will fly. I will fly and fly. Education gives you wings to fly. Achievements come out of the fire in your subconscious mind that I will win. So each one of you will have Wings of Fire, which will indeed lead to knowledge, which will help you to fly as a doctor, as an engineer, or a scientist or a teacher, or a political leader, or a bureaucrat, or a diplomat, or anything you want to be. I would urge the youth of today, especially the Mohyal youth, to follow the inspiring advice of Dr. Abdul Kalam and bring out the potential in you and become a unique YOU and not just anybody else! (You may also recall that, in one of the earlier issues of Mohyal Mitter, Shri B.M. Datta of Janakpuri had given a brilliant suggestion as to how the Mohyal youth and children could be encouraged to take part in the community s activities. He had put forth the suggestion of having competitions in sports, cultural items, etc, first at the local sabha level; then for the local sabha level winners, at the level of a group of neighbouring local sabhas; and finally, amongst the group winners, at the apex body level. This suggestion, excellent though it was, never really took off nor followed up. Now is the appropriate time to make a beginning to implement the suggestion, as the children & youth will be having their annual vacation and a lot of free time. I expect our dynamic Secretary Youth Affairs to initiate action in this regard.) Jai Mohyal! A DREAM COME TRUE RADHE KRISHNA!!!! Jai Mohyal! O.P. Mohan Chief Editor MM It was no less than a dream come true for all of us, when open skies & right shining sun, greeted us, after three consecutive days of inclement & chilly weather, as if to give a clear message to revisit our plan to Mohyal Ashram-Vrindavan on our preplanned Mathura Sojourn. With God s grace and guidance from the GMS, we left Karnal at 1600 hrs on the sunny 07th February 2013, along with my inlaws from Yamunanagar chanting and reciting devotional songs, en route, before we halted at Faridabad to pick my Massiji. We refreshed ourselves for an hour, with tea and snacks before restarting our journey towards Mathura. With rooms booked in advance & prior intimation, we were heartily welcomed by the staff of the Mohyal Ashram, Vrindavan, at about 2200 hrs & were served hot fresh-cooked delicious dinner. My mother anchored a game of Tambola till late night, before we went for a sound sleep, only to wake up for the early morning tea, at the Ashram s spacious Dining Hall. We were briefed the next day morning by the Ashram Manager, Shri Sharma, so very meticulously that we could visit 07 temples, before returning late in the evening, to enjoy the well-cooked & heartily-served dinner. My brother-in-law, his wife & son gave us a surprise visit at the Ashram, late in the night, to celebrate my birthday (on 09 Feb). Needles to add, all of us were woken-up past mid-night to cut the customary birthday cake & enjoy the sweets & gossip with an assembly of a dozen Mohyals! We checked out from the Ashram, after a delicious breakfast, to visit the rest of our planned visits to the temples at Matuhra & Barsana and finally took a u turn for our return journey to Karnal, thanking Lord Krishna & Goddess Radhe, by reciting devotional numbers en route. My mother made a donation of Rs 250/- at the Ashramn besides giving tips to the staff; my in-laws too donated Rs 500/- to the Ashram Fund plus tips to the staff. We earnestly wish to thank Rzd B.D.Baliji & his team for not only conceptualizing but planning, engineering, executing & finally erecting a peerless marvel - The Mohyal Ashram in Vrindavan. We wish Baliji a very healthy life to continue his incomplete dreams & endevours, for the Mohyal community at large. Thanking sincerely, Haemant Mohan, Karnal & Others From Karnal, Yamunanagar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad 4 Mohyal Mitter / MAY 2013 Donate Rs.11,000 towards Langar Fund, Mohyal Ashram

Non-receipt of Mohyal Mitter: Shri Srikrishna Bali of NMS complained that he and many other subscribers at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, have not been receiving the Mohyal Mitter, for the last few months, and wanted a solution to be found for this problem. Shri Ramesh Datta from Faridabad stated that, as per his information obtained from the Faridabad Post Office, the problem seems to be because of shortage of manpower in the postal department, as the vacancies of postmen, who retire from service, are not being filled up; and the same volume of delivery work has to be handled by a lesser number of postmen. Shri D.V. Mohan stated that the GMS ensures that copies of the magazine are packed in separate bundles, station-wise, and dispatched from the PSO, New Delhi, in the presence of the GMS representative; and that the problem was on the part of the de- livery post office. He advised Shri Srikrishan Bali to lodge a complaint of non-receipt at the Indirapuram post office, with copy to the GMS, who will then take up the matter with the higher postal authorities. After some more discussion, it was agreed that the GMS also will write a letter of complaint to the Ghaziabad post office, where the packet meant for Indirapuram is dispatched, with a copy each to the post office at Indirapuram, as also to Shri Srikrishan Bali. It was also decided that, in case any subscriber does not receive the Mohyal Mitter, he/ she should inform the local sabha concerned of the same, who will take up the matter with the delivery post office and also inform the GMS about it. Jhelum, Bhai Bal Mukand, the doyen of martyrs, graduated from the DAV College, Lahore, and passed his B.T. Examination in 1910 in the 3rd position. He joined as a teacher in the Albert Victor Anglo Sanskrit High School Abbottabad. Impelled by patriotism, he gave up the job and joined hands with Lala Lajpat Rai, Shri Rash Bihari Bose formed the Inqilabi Party. Bhai Bal Mukand was given the charge of Northern India. He was trained alongwith Avadh Bihari for dissemination of seditious literature and in throwing of bombs. A plan was hatched to throw a bomb, on , when the Viceroy Lord Hardinge was to visit Delhi, for the inauguration of the new imperial capital of India. On that day, when the procession with the Viceroy, riding an elephant, reached Chandni Chowk, Delhi, near the Clock Tower, Bhai Bal Mukand and Basant Biswas, wearing veils, mixed with the lady spectators, and hurled a bomb on the Viceroy. But the bomb missed its target and, instead, killed the mahout of the elephant. Bhai Bal Mukand and Basant Biswas escaped undetected. The police were in hot pursuit after them and arrested Avadh Bihari Bose, on 19 Feb 1914, and Basant Biswas, on 26 Feb 1914, in Calcutta. Lala Amir Chand was also arrested. Bhai Bal Mukand was arrested, on 10 March The trial opened in the Sessions Court, on , and by the Judgment, delivered on , Bhai Bal Mukand, Lala Amir Chand and Avadh Bihari Bose were condemned to death. An appeal made to the Privy Council was rejected, on The heroes were hanged to death, on , in the old Central Jail of Delhi, where the Maulana Azad Medical College is located, at present. Their bodies were not handed over to their families. Another example of sacrifice was set by Bhai Bal Mukand s wife, Smt. Ram Rakhi. She had come to meet her husband in jail, during the period of his trial and seen that he had been kept in a dark cell, with no bed, with only one blanket, provided, during the severe winter; and given only barley Chapatis to eat. On returning to her village, she adopted the same living style. When she came to know that her husband was to be hanged, she stopped eating and died the same day, when he was hanged. She tied her dupatta with the handkerchief of her husband before dying. Indeed, the nation is proud of such great martyrs and cannot forget the sacrifices of the heroes during the Indian Freedom Movement. The Delhi Government has installed a marble plaque at the spot of his martyrdom. The Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, behind the Indraprastha College in Delhi, has been named after Bhai Bal Mukand by the Delhi Government. Contributed by: G.L. I, Janak Dulari Vaid, aged 77, r/o Mumbai, first of all, thank everyone for giving us financial help in 2010 for the treatment of my son, Rajender O. Vaid (aged 54), who has been suffering from diabetes for the last 7 years; and both his kidneys have been partially damaged. To make things worse, his thumb and one toe, have been amputated due to this disease. The help, which was given by the Mohyal biradari last time, had supported us and made my son capable of taking dialysis and hemoglobin injections (8 per month). The cost of treatment is about Rs.5000/- per month, which is a big amount for me to spend. I, therefore, request the Mohyal biradari to support us once again.
