The Outreach Ministry of GRACE F W B CHURCH Our Mission: To get as many people as possible, using as many means as possible, to KNOW and SHOW CHRIST Sunday Praise / Worship Service (WHYM) :00am Bible Study Hour (WHYM) :00am Worship (WHYM 1260AM) :55am Wednesday Prayer Service/Family Night :30pm Grace FWB Church ADDRESS Service REQUESTED Nonprofit Organization P O Box 1003/348 Lawrence St U S POSTAGE PAID Lake City, SC Permit #8 AUTO Pastor Mike Jones -- (843) Vol XVIII Num 1 Assistant Pastor Carroll Bazen mjones@graceandglory.com January 21, cbazen@graceandglory.com Our 18 year of publishing Grace and Glory Newsletter. Who would have ought it? 26 years ago, when I first arrived at Grace Church, I had no idea of how God was going to use our meager efforts to reach e world rough e ministry of is church. {This is only our 18 year of publication because I spent 8 years as pastor of oer Churches during my 26 year association wi Grace}. It humbles me, and rills me, to see how God has blessed is Church and brought us to e place we are at today- A Church wi a future so bright until I have to shade my eyes in order to look down e pa God has prepared for us! If I had e money (and I don t!) I would give a million dollars to be in Broer Carroll s shoes today. The new ground has been cleared, e stumps have been dug, and e fields have been plowed. Now all at remains is to sow e seed and rejoice in e harvest. And what a harvest it is going to be! Makes me want to shout Glory at e top of my lungs just to see e little bit God has revealed to me. SALVATION DECISION: A couple of recent events have highlighted just what I am talking about. First, a young man for whom we have prayed for a long time, Carl Springs, came to my office last week and asked if he could be saved. What a joy it was to share Christ wi Him and listen as he prayed e sinner s prayer and changed from a sinner into a saint! And what a rill it was to watch e wave of excitement sweep rough our Wednesday Night Assembly as he shared his testimony. And you should have been here Sunday morning. Carl s job required at he work on Saturday and Sunday. His first request of e Church was at we pray for God to work it out so at he could come to church. We prayed; and Friday morning Carl s supervisor came by and said he had decided to move him to straight day shifts wi no week end work!! (Can I hear a Glory somewhere out ere??) GOD S BLESSINGS IN MANY AREAS: Numerous oer recent events have shown how God is beginning to stir our Church in a marvelous way. Wednesday night attendance has been so good until sometimes people are unable to find a seat until we dismiss to our Bible Classes! The Teen Class is so big until we had to move e younger age children out of e new room we had built for em in order to allow e Teens enough room to sit- 25 or over each week. And e Spirit- How it moves your soul as you listen to e testimonies and prayers on Sunday and Wednesday. There is simply no way to describe is wonderful Spirit as it stirs our services and warms our hearts. All I can say is at I would not trade it for anying.

FINANCES: God also has blessed us in e area of Finances was e first year at our Church received over $100,000 in General giving. Wi Broer Carroll on full time staff it was necessary at we reach at goal but it is still an exceptional amount for e size of our church. One ing at helped us reach is milestone was our exceptional White Christmas offering of nearly $6000. It is just marvelous to see how God continues to meet our every need ru e generous giving of e people of Grace Church. VISITORS: Anoer area of encouragement has been e visitors we have had in nearly every service since e first of e year. Broer Carroll and e Young Adult Class are devising a system of follow-up for ese visitors at has already had very positive results (In Fact, some cakes were cooked and delivered Monday which were an encouragement to visitors and e sick.) That is just one of e many ways we can reach people for Christ is year. CHOIR MINISTRY: We have also had several additions to our Choir recently at have helped is Ministry continue to do a fabulous work for e Lord. If you have not received e audio or video tape of our Christmas Cantata en you need to request it immediately- During at Cantata heaven came down and glory filled our soul. It was simply great. In Fact, one of e goals I have set for e Choir is year is for em to record a CD of some of eir music for distribution! Many people who listen to our Radio Broadcast or receive our tapes comment on how much ey enjoy e music. That is why I believe if we can make eir music available to e public at it will be a Blessing to many. It is not just at we have new members singing in e choir; we are also attempting to coordinate e use of e tremendous talent of our people in e playing of musical instruments. Piano players (Pam Watts, Jackie Lowder, Frankie Elmore, Jeanie Taylor, and Susanna Bazen), Keyboard (Jennifer Lowder), Organ (Clay Smi), Drums (Jonaan Smi), Guitar (Ray Watts), and Flute (Laura Cox). Maybe we could put a couple of instrumentals by e Grace Orchestra on at CD! I learned long ago at you look for where God is at work and en you join Him at HIS work. That is why I am so ankful to be a part of God s work at Grace Church. What we are doing has tremendous value right now; and will continue to ripple across e sea of time for eternity. Thank God for e privilege of serving Him; and for e joy of working wi e Great people of Grace Church. MEMORIAL: We gratefully acknowledge a Memorial to e Outreach Ministry from Tom and Wanda Smi in Memory of Mr Ron Johnson (Donna Sullivan s Broer in law). Our prayers and sympay go to is family during is very difficult time in eir life There has been a lot of talk in recent days about Integrity. Some people are apparently real foggy about what Integrity means. The Dictionary defines Integrity as a steadfast adherence to a strict moral or eical code or maintaining a high standard of conduct in daily living. While most of us may not readily be able to give a dictionary definition of Integrity; we sure do recognize it when we see it. We know at a person of Integrity is someone who is honest, can be trusted, and will do right in all circumstances. The Bible mentions many men who failed to live lives of integrity; and en shows e horrible consequences of eir failures. But it also tells of several who did e right ing, all of e time, even in e midst of temptation and accusation. Joseph lived a life of moral purity and exemplified Integrity even when placed under extreme temptation. Daniel purposed in his heart at he would not defile himself. This stand for right enabled him to live a life of such high integrity, in e midst of powerful political corruption, until even secret searches could find noing wrong wi his character. Someone has wisely stated at we reach our greatest height by staying on e level. Every day you make choices about right and wrong. Integrity bases ese choices on e standards given by God. And, in e end, e standards given by God are e only standards at will matter.

Have you PRAYED for Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry? God was extremely good to our Outreach work during 1998 in new areas of opportunity, in e results from our work, and in our financial ability to function - see e financial statement later in is newsletter. Remember, is is a Fai Ministry. All of our resources must come as a direct result of prayer and trusting God. We are not underwritten by e Church or any one individual. We pray, God burdens hearts, and people contribute e funds we need in order to carry on is ministry. Increasing opportunities have meant increasing expenses- but God still paves His streets wi gold! When finances become tight (as ey are right now) we just pray harder, work more, and expect God to be as faiful as He has always been. NEW BOOK copies of our latest book, The ABC s of Christian Character by Rev Leroy Lowery arrived from e printer is week. We will begin distributing as many copies as possible is week; and en mail e remaining copies next week. We distribute as many books as possible before we mail in order to save on our mailing cost (Which, like your stamp cost, continue to increase). This is e 13 books we have printed for distribution and it is our earnest prayer at at least 2 more will be ready for e printers is year. Right now several previously printed books need to be reprinted so I will have to take care of at project first. But look for more new books in your mail box later is year. THE MINISTRIES OF GRACE AND GLORY OUTREACH MINISTRY: New people are continually being added is newsletter. Some of em don t realize what Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry is and what it does. When I first came to Grace Church e church sponsored a 15 minute radio program on Saturday Morning entitled Glory to His Name. Soon after arriving as Pastor I began publishing a Church newsletter. When I looked for a Name I ought at combining e name of our Church and our only Outreach would be fine so I took e first name from each- Grace and Glory. Soon is one radio program had grown into many radio programs over numerous radio stations in eastern Sou Carolina. As e ministry and e Church grew, more and more people began to request help and materials. Finances were not available from eier e Church or from me personally so I began to ask God to supply what we needed. As God supplied e finances we would reach more and more people. Soon one block was laid on anoer block and is small ministry was reaching across e United States- and now, via e world wide web, around e world. Now e reason I am so busy all e time is because I head an ever growing ministry at is expanding almost faster an I can keep up wi. Opportunities become available, doors open to more ministry, and more and more people cry out for help. And as long as God leads, we will use every means available, to reach everyone possible, wi e Gospel of Christ [I hope when I die a truck backs up to e church during e funeral wi anoer load of new books!]. Here are a few of e ministry we are involved in right now: **TAPES- Audio and Video Tapes of our services are distributed in our church and mailed to many. **BOOKS- Devotional Books and Bible Study Books are written, printed, and distributed everywhere. **BIBLES- Bibles for reading and for evangelism and e New Testament on Cassette are given away. **CARING FOR SHUT IN- Books, tapes, and helps are given to Jail and Nursing Home Ministries **INTERNET PRESENCE- and Devotions allow us to reach many **NEWSPAPER MINISTRY- over 1000 nation wide Newsletters monly. Weekly Newspaper devotions **ASSISTANCE TO OTHERS-Pastor Help Ministry gives many books and tapes to assist oer ministers Helping Hand Ministry- provides e help for many people to pay bills, get food, etc. **RADIO PROGRAMS- Radio Broadcast of all of our Sunday Services. Daily Radio Devotions **CHURCH MINISTRY- Everying we do is keyed around getting as many people as possible to come to KNOW Christ as Savior and en to SHOW Christ in eir changed life. That puts e local church at e very heart of all we do. The work is great, e opportunities are astonishing. Join us in Prayer at God will continue to let us be a part of is wonderful work HE is doing....preacher Mike Ps 16:11

WHAT S GOING ON? by Carroll Bazen It looks like anoer mon has come and gone and now we are at e beginning of a new year. It rills my soul to see e blessings of God in is day at we live. I trust at you have had a great start to 1999, if not en may be it will get better for you. I really ink is is going to be an exiting year to serve God. The Young Adult SS Class at I teach has already blessed my heart in an enormous way. They are e best group of people at I have ever had e privilege of teaching. Their hearts are on fire for God and ey are looking forward to any way at ey can minister to e church. You know at ings are going well when ey come to me asking of ways ey can reach people for Christ. In fact we are in e process of working out a follow up program so at when people miss church e young adults will be able to contact em and tell em at we missed em. We just want people to know at we care and at ey are a special part of e fellowship of God. In e process of all e changes at will be going on e young adult Sunday school class also plan on making several changes next mon at will include adopting a mission statement, setting some goals for Grace attendance, appointing officers, and setting up monly activities. I am so looking forward to seeing what God is going to do for us is year! Our schedule has already begun in high gear and will be as follows:. On Sunday, January 24 we plan on taking a tour of e FWB Home for Children in Turbeville, SC. en going out for a time of fun, fellowship and food. Many of e people in my Sunday school class has never been to e Children s Home and I ought at it would be an interesting time for em to meet e kids. We plan on leaving e church around 6:00pm and being at e Children s Home by 6:30pm. Please all YOUNG ADULTS mark it on your calendar and be ready for a fun time of Christian fellowship. Then on Saturday, January 30 e young adult class will be sponsoring a project at e home of Mrs. Billie Ard s. Mrs. Billie has a room on e side of her house at was never finished and it is causing her some problems so we are going to help her get rid of e room by tearing it down for her. All men at would like to help can come prepared to do some construction work. Ladies, your help also would be most appreciated and welcomed. We will begin about 9:00am and work until it is finished or until our day runs out. We do plan on stopping for some lunch and fellowship. Anyone at can help please mark it on your calendars and come out. Remember it is important at we help all at we can while we can! YOUTH SUNDAY We are planning to have a very exiting you Sunday on January 31 during our 9:00am service. A special speaker st will be providing e morning message we also will be having a special in song and an offering will be received for our you fund, so please plan on attending and giving as God ha prospered you. I am really looking forward to having my soul uplifted and blessed on is special day. So if you usually don t attend e 9:00am service I urge you to please try and make it to is one. We do have a lot going on in e upcoming mons but in e midst of it all it is important at we don t take our focus off of what is most important and at is reaching lost souls for Jesus Christ. It is my prayer at you have a very blessed upcoming year.

The Outreach Ministry of GRACE F W B CHURCH Our Mission: To get as many people as possible, using as many means as possible, to KNOW and SHOW CHRIST Sunday Praise / Worship Service (WHYM) :00am Bible Study Hour (WHYM) :00am Worship (WHYM 1260AM) :55am Wednesday Prayer Service/Family Night :30pm Grace FWB Church ADDRESS Service REQUESTED Nonprofit Organization P O Box 1003/348 Lawrence St U S POSTAGE PAID Lake City, SC Permit #8 AUTO Pastor Mike Jones -- (843) Vol XVIII Num 2 Assistant Pastor Carroll Bazen mjones@graceandglory.com February 25, cbazen@graceandglory.com I just believe at I would raer have e people of Grace Church praying for me an anyone I could ink about. After nearly 4 years of ducking e doctor I felt at I needed to visit again. I assumed at my doctor would slap me on e wrist because I had not had a check up in so long. Instead, she hit me beside e head wi a two by four!. She felt at I needed anoer stress test because she was not happy wi some of e ings going on wi my heal right now. Lack of insurance got her to put it off for 3 mons wi e promise at if I got to hurting too badly at I would call her. Things seemed to get worst and worst until finally I felt at someing needed to be done. I called last Thursday and e test was set up for Monday. Before I called I got on my treadmill at home just to see what would happen and almost collapsed after a very short time. I knew en at I was in trouble so I went ahead and called. Fast forward ahead to e day of e test. Many, many people were praying for me. I was able to do e entire test- wi no pain!! The Doctor was astonished; and so was I. We talked about Church and e Lord e entire test and it was just like walking in e park. She knows, and I know, at e Lord did someing special during at test. There are still some ings I have to contend wi, but I believe God did a special work because of e prayers of His people. And I can t wait to see what He is going to allows us to accomplish now! NEW COLUMN: The missions of Grace Church is to use as many means as possible to reach as many people as possible in order at ey might KNOW Christ as Savior and en SHOW Christ in eir changed life. Sometimes we get so caught up in all e marvelous meods we use until we seem to forget at most of e time e getting people to Know Christ part (Soul winning) is done one on one. To emphasis is, and to provide some real life illustrations, I have asked several local pastors to share some of eir Soul Winning experiences wi you. The first of ese examples is found on page five in today s paper and is written by Rev Larry McAlister, Pastor of Gilead FWB Church. Broer Larry went to a Church at had averaged 30 to 50 for years and has turned it into a church of 150 to 200- almost exclusively by winning people to e Lord one soul at a time. He is a great inspiration and we are extremely ankful at he shared his experience wi us. NEW MEMBERS: Sunday, February 21 was a gloomy cold day wi many of our members out wi e flu. But st suddenly e sunshine shone in our midst as BOB AND CINDY WELCH came forward to join our family of believers here at Grace. Bob presently works as a prison guard in Turbeville and likes to tinker wi computers and guns in his spare time. His computer skill has already come in handy for me and I look forward to him working as part of our ever expanding Outreach Ministry. Cindy is a Preacher s kid (Her dad, Rev Kenne Upright, pastors Liberty FWB Church in Manning) and presently works as a medical transcriber out of her home. We are excited about her talents and look forward to em being a great help in our Church.

NEW PRAYER CHAINS: One of e ways Bob and Cindy have already helped in our ministry is by joining our updated Prayer Chains. We presently have 2 Prayer Chains wi 10 links in each chain. (A Link is a family or individual at agree to cooperate in passing along e prayer request and en spend time in prayer about e need) People wi prayer needs can call anywhere in e Chain and know at eir need will be brought before e Lord by people who expect God to hear and answer prayer. So if you have not picked up your copy of our Prayer Chains en be sure to do so today. (I would be glad to send samples to any oer Church at would like to use is program). NEW DEACONS: We are extremely grateful to announce at TOMMY SULLIVAN and JOEL JONES have been elected to serve as Deacons in our Church (They are presently in eir 6 mon probation period. We look forward to ordaining em in e summer of is year). Bo of ese young men were serving our church well as Trustees but we decided to move em up to e office of Deacon due to eir consistent work and eir wonderful character. They are e backbone of our Audio-Video Ministry and oversee e production of our Audio tapes, Video tapes, Radio Broadcast, and Internet sermons. Broer Tommy has a wonderful wife (Brenda) and two lovely children (Lauren and Matew- Thomas to ose of you who don t know his real name!). He is e main man at our county s 911 operation and also operates e Xpress Lube here in town. We count it a great honor at our Church is finally old enough at Broer Tommy is our first Deacon to be raised in our Church. Broer Joel has a wonderful wife (Glenda- who gets an award for being one of e first people at church each service!) and ree children whose last name is Jones (Enough said!)- Ashley, Rebecca, and Christopher. Broer Joel is e main computer man at Souern Computer Systems/Radio Shack here in Lake City. His sacrificial giving and work in e Church are an inspiration to everyone. NEW EXAMPLE OF GOD S PROVISION: Last week I got my visa bill for e Outreach Ministry for January. It has been averaging around $2000 per mon but because of present conditions we had cut back drastically. In spite of at e bill was still slightly over $600. I had $700 in e bank but I was counting on at to pay for February s Radio bill ($600). I saw no choice but to pay is bill and expect God to do someing miraculous about e Radio Bill. I wrote e check, put it in e envelope, and as I was handing it to Broer Carroll to take to e Post office e phone rang. The call was from someone who wanted us to come by at day because ey had a check for e Outreach. When Broer Carroll came back wi e check it was for $500 (Glory!). And guess what- a check for $100 came in e mail at Broer Carroll brought back at day (Can you say Glory again!). Now here is e cherry on top. The next day someone contacted me and said God had laid e Outreach Ministry on eir heart and ey wanted to give $1800 to our work. That is an unusual figure; it is exactly 3 times $600 (Is ere a ird Glory out ere anywhere?). I don t know a lot but I do know is; I would not trade serving e Lord- in sickness and in heal, in poverty and in weal - for anying in e world. It is just e best ing in is world or e next one. NEW CHILDREN S CHURCH FORMAT: Broer Carroll instituted a new Children s Church format in February. Teacher now teach for 2 mons at a time instead of rotating each mon. This is made possible by e new schedule- First Sunday in each mon, no Children s Church so ey can worship wi eir parents in regular Church. The Last Sunday in each mon Broer Carroll has a special time as he teaches bo age groups. That only leaves 2 or 3 Sundays a mon for e Teachers to teach. So, in reality, eir 2 mon schedule now is really no more an eir previous 1 mon schedule. We ink it is a good program and will prove beneficial to our young people, and to e Church in e days ahead. NEW NURSERY ROTATION: One area we were always having to deal wi was e fact at it always seemed to work out at e Children s Church teachers were scheduled for Nursery duty during eir time of teaching Children s Church. Once we instituted e new Children s Church format we asked 16 people who were not teaching Children s Church to help in e Nursery. This means ey keep e nursery once each two mons in groups of two. We really appreciate all e new workers who have made is possible.

GOOD NEWS ABOUT GOD S BLESSINGS IN PAST EVENTS: Beamer- Gleamer Activity night- Friday, February 5 We had a great night of fun filled activity. The night started off wi e kids singing children Bible songs en we had a devotion and played lots of energizing games. The evening was topped of wi HOTDOGS. I again want to say at I appreciate everyone at helped wi is activity! Valentine Banquet- Sunday, February 14 What a Night! We had a most excellent time wi everyone at attended e Valentine Banquet. Broer Mike shared e devotion and en we had lots of fun wi several of e couples. We made up love poems, had pillow fights, and played e Know Your Spouse Game (Which was extremely Interesting ). Thanks to all who helped prepare and participate on at special occasion- Especially to e Young Adult Class who provided, and prepared, our Heart shaped Hamburger Supper. GYF Audio Scavenger Hunt, Sunday, February 21 st All of e GYF group are very special to Grace FWB Church, and I really appreciate eir attendance for is event. We started e night wi a devotion and en e games began wi riddles to solve and much more. I separated e group into two teams, gave each team a audio tape recorder and a riddle at ey had to solve. The riddle en led em to eir list of ings at ey had to record.. It was lots of fun and excitement for everyone involved. We ended e night at Pizza Hut for some enjoyable fellowship afterwards. Going to be great, can hardly wait What a joy it is to be a part of God s work at Grace Church. Every mon someing NEW takes place and it fills our heart wi joy to see what God is doing. We would love to have you be our guest in any service but if you cannot be here in person be sure to worship wi us on Radio, via Audio or Video tapes, or look us up on e Web. We ink we have someing wor sharing and we are extremely grateful for e privilege of being allowed in so many homes via our Outreach Ministry. Continue to pray at God would direct every ing we do because it sure goes great when God is in Charge! May God Bless and Keep you... Preacher Mike Ps 16:11

Precious In His Sight By Carroll Bazen There are many ings at we ink of as being precious. All of us can relate to a beautiful baby lying in a crib, or perhaps a memory in e past at sparks a special ought, and even a relationship wi a special person. Many times we look at ese ings as being precious. Well ere are several ings at God looks at and see s as being very precious. Here are just a few- 1) 1 Samuel 3:1-And e child Samuel ministered unto e LORD before Eli. And e word of e LORD was precious in ose days; ere was no open vision. The word of God was precious in ose days. Gods word is definitely Precious; and very powerful. One ing at astounds me more an anying is e undeniable fact at today Gods word is just as precious and rare. It is still vitally important to spiritual grow and leadership, and yet while I know it is important it seems like it is taken for granted more an ever. Most people have several Bibles in eir home. You can go to almost any store and buy one. It is also given away on a regular basis by many. I personally believe at in e midst of all e promotion and prosperity we have forgotten e important precious promises. Surely Gods word is very special and should be a centerpiece in our life. If it is not I challenge you to review your priorities and make sure God s Word is at e top of e list. 2) Psalm 116:15- Precious in e sight of e LORD is e dea of his saints. We see a very precious connotation by God on e subject of dea. We have never been ere we have never experienced it, all we have done is read about it. The one ing at I know is at God said at it was precious in His sight when a Christian dies. Alough is is a difficult time for many people we must take a look at e situation from Gods perspective. God views dea for e Christian as a homecoming, not a end or a dark door of separation. There is naturally a mourning process at we undergo, but in e long range plan God is always right in his work and will. One day we will die and be able to go home wi God and be wi Him in Heaven forever. What a joy to know at we do not have to stay on ear forever and endure sin, temptation, heartache and DEATH. 3) 1 Peter 1:19- But wi e precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb wiout blemish and wiout spot: Thank God for what His son Jesus Christ accomplished on a cross many years ago! It is e precious blood of Jesus Christ at enables us to be forgiven from all of our iniquity. The Bible says in e book of Hebrews 9:22 And almost all ings are by e law purged wi blood; and wiout shedding of blood is no remission. It is so important at we as Christians realize e importance of forgiveness. It affects all areas of our life. Because of forgiveness we can become free from guilt and burdensome pain. The Bible says very little about guilt, but it does say a lot about forgiveness and forgiveness comes rough e precious blood of Jesus Christ. -Amen

OUR NEW SOUL WINNERS PAGE. DON T JUST READ THEIR STORY, FOLLOW THEIR EXAMPLE. IF WE DO NOT GO, THEY WILL NOT COME Even when you don t feel like it! By Rev. Larry McAlister It was a Sunday night, October I remember because it was homecoming at our church. I arrived at church around 7am at morning and was not able to get home until almost 5pm at afternoon. I was so tired until I came home and just kicked back in my Lazy Boy recliner. I was enjoying just being at home wi my family when e phone rang about 9pm. It was Gina, a lady at had started coming to our Church wi her two children on one of our Church vans. She said her husband Henry was confused; she didn t know what was wrong wi him. I had tried to talk wi Henry before, but did not get anywhere wi him. Now she wanted me to come and talk to him. Needless to say e verse in Matew 26:41 The spirit indeed is willing, but e flesh is weak came to mind. The devil whispered, You re wasting your time, you deserve to relax. But e Holy Spirit said GO ; and I find from Genesis to Revelation at God said GO many times. I got into my car and began to drive, it was about a twelve mile trip and I believe at e devil got into e car wi me to try and persuade me to turn around. When I arrived I met a man confused, yet searching. He was an alcoholic, but he said at he knew he had to change his life. He had called into a radio program, where a lady had prayed wi him, but he could not believe at he was saved. Most people can t believe because it is so easy. Ephesians 2:8-9 says For by grace are ye saved rough fai; and at not of yourselves: it is e gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. He had told me at he was drinking at is time. I talked to him about irty minutes, going over e plan of salvation, but he still just couldn t believe. The Holy Spirit told me to ask him a question. I said, Henry, at glass in front of you, do you still want a drink? He just looked at me for a minute and said No preacher, I don t want a drink. Then I said, Do you have any more alcohol in e house? He said at he did. I en told him, You need to pour it out for e Lord. He looked at me and said, Preacher, I am going to pour it out for me! We went into e kitchen where he began pouring liquor down e sink, ree or four bottles at a time. Then he said, Preacher, ere is some more, I might as well get rid of it. He opened e refrigerator and began taking out cans of beer. I will never forget, e two children came in and said, Daddy, can we help?. He said, No is is someing I have to do for myself. I wish I would have had a camera to take a picture of e cans of beer and bottles of alcohol piled up in e sink. Later at night we joined hands, his wife Gina, two children, Henry and I and anked God for what He had done. Now as I sit writing is down, I can t help but ink about Philip in Acts 28: I remember when he had to leave Samaria. I know he was tired because ey were having revival, but an angel came to him and told him to go e desert of Gaza and talk to an Eiopian Eunuch, who didn t understand God s Word. He was just like Henry, confused. But Philip went and at man s confusion (just like Henry) turned to conversion. How about you? Has e Holy Spirit ever told you to do someing and because of some inconvenience, fear, or excuse you didn t or wouldn t go. If so ask God to forgive you. The Bible says in James 4:17 Therefore to him at knowe to do good, and doe it not, to him it is sin. Determine today at if, and when, God wants to use you again, you will be willing to go. And remember when Satan tells you at you can t accomplish anying at I can do all ings rough Christ which strengene me. (Philippians 4:13) Oh, and by e way, Henry and Gina are still faifully serving e Lord as part of Gilead FWB Church. Isn t it wonderful what God will do if we will only obey Him! Preacher Larry, Pastor of Gilead FWB Church, Scranton, SC.

STAYING IN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD In e first Chapter of First John, John has been telling about how we can have Fellowship wi God; and about how we can restore at fellowship if we sin. In e Second Chapter he wants to emphasis how important it is at we remain in Fellowship so he uses a key word abide 7 different times in is one chapter. The word Abide is used often by John, and by our Lord. It means to live in a place as if it were permanent - A man STAYS at a motel but he ABIDES at his home. As John describes how a person abides wiin is chapter he shows us what we need in order to maintain a close fellowship wi God. 1) You abide in Fellowship by conforming your character to at of Christ.(1 John 2:6) He at sai he abide in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Remember Your wor to God in Public is what you are in Private. Keep your heart for out of it are e issues of life (Prov 4:23) 2) You stay in Fellowship by maintaining a proper relationship wi oers- (1 John 2:10) He at love his broer abide in e light, and ere is none occasion of stumbling in him. Note how John states later at an improper relationship wi oers causes us to abide in dea- (1 John 3:14) We know at we have passed from dea unto life, because we love e breren. He at love not his broer abide in dea. 3) You stay in Fellowship by seeking to continually do e Will of God- (1 John 2:17) And e world passe away, and e lust ereof: but he at doe e will of God abide for ever. We don t seek to bend God to our wants and desires; we yield ourselves to His perfect plan. 4) You stay in Fellowship by clinging to e foundations of your Fai- (1 John 2:24) Let at erefore abide in you, which ye have heard from e beginning. If at which ye have heard from e beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in e Son, and in e Faer. Don t let new and exciting doctrines draw you away from e proven principles of God s Word. Fads and gimmicks come and go but e word of God abides forever. 5) You stay in Fellowship by learning to listen to e education and guidance of e Spirit-( 1 John 2:27) But e anointing which ye have received of him abide in you, and ye need not at any man teach you: but as e same anointing teache you of all ings, and is tru, and is no lie, and even as it ha taught you, ye shall abide in him. You cannot abide in God s plan unless e Holy Spirit abides in you. Don t quench or grieve e Spirit. Learn to listen to His guidance; it is never wrong. 6) When you abide in continuing Fellowship e result is Victory in your spiritual life- (1 John 2:14) I have written unto you, faers, because ye have known him at is from e beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and e word of God abide in you, and ye have overcome e wicked one. (See I John 5:4) For whatsoever is born of God overcome e world: and is is e victory at overcome e world, even our fai. 7) And Abiding in continued Fellowship wi Him gives us Confidence at His Coming- (I John 2:28) And now, little children, abide in him; at, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. The reason for is Confidence is at we don t make sin a habit of life. Our failures are mistakes, not acts of rebellion- (1 John 3:6) Whosoever abide in him sinne not: whosoever sinne ha not seen him, neier known him. Is your relationship wi God someing you visit on Sunday or is it someing at abides in your life all week long??

I call it our million dollar machine. It was e photo type for a new design at A B Dick Company was going to make before ey decided to close eir Lake City plant and I was told at over a million dollars wor of research and tooling went into is machine to make sure at everying worked when ey began running off oer machines on e assembly line. When A B Dick closed one of e men in our Church bid Thirty Dollars for e machine inking he was bidding on a part at lay on top of e machine. When his bid was accepted he found at he had purchased an entire pallet of material; material at has proved invaluable in reaching people for Christ over e past 15 years. And, of course, included in is material was our mimeograph machine which has run off in excess of 7 million copies of Christian books and Church Newsletters during ese past 15 years. Time has passed and it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain ink and stencils for a mimeograph machine since every one has gone to copiers. Now, anks to e wonderful generosity of several businesses in our Church we have been able to purchase a very nice copier to use in our Outreach Ministry. We hope is will make our newsletter and oer material much easier to read while allowing us more opportunities to use pictures and oer materials at we were unable to use because of e limitations of e mimeograph machine. Hope you notice e difference- and I hope e difference will be a Blessing to you. If your church has need of a Mimeograph machine to help in your work en let me know. It may have 7 million more copies left in it! BIRTHDAYS: This is a marvelous week for me. It is a week in which I celebrate 2 very important Birdays. Tuesday was e Birday of my wonderful Wife (Whoso finde a wife finde a good ing, and obtaine favour of e LORD. Prov 18:22). She has been a companion and a friend for nearly 30 years and I am extremely ankful God sent her to me as my good ing. The only problem I find wi her is at after all ese years she still looks like she is 21 while I have gotten old, fat, and bald! And, on Friday, I celebrate 37 years of living for e Lord. I was born again on March 19, 1962 while kneeling at e alter in New Prospect FWB Church. It was e greatest ing to happen in my life and I still look wi awe and wonder at a God who could, and would, save such a wretch as I. Thank God at someone cared enough to invite me to Church where a man of God preached e word of God so I could become a child of God.

ORDINATION SERVICE: I will celebrate my spiritual birday in one of e best possible ways. I will be on e road to Bratt, Florida to preach e ordination sermon for Rev Dale Johnson. Dale has already been a wonderful asset to e cause of Christ and I look forward to his ministry having a tremendous impact for God. I know at I am in e sunset of my life and it is a great joy to see God raise up oer warriors to fight e good fight of fai and hold high e banner of Christ. All of my Pastoral life I have tried to help preachers as much as possible. Every year we give away a large number of books, magazines, and oer materials to help men in ministry. I call at Multiplying e Ministry - (2 Tim 2:2) And e ings at ou hast heard of me among many witnesses, e same commit ou to faiful men, who shall be able to teach oers also. And, to make it even better, I get to preach to e fine folks of Shiloh FWB Church on Sunday. I don t know at you can have a better week-end an one in which you ordain a man into e ministry and en get to tell people about our wonderful God and blessed Savior. [And on top of at, someone in Bratt might have a shrimp I can eat!] BUILDING PLANS: The Deacons, Trustees, and Pastors are meeting almost every week now as we make some final decisions about building. For a long time it seemed at every door we would try to walk rough would close in our face but, recently, e Lord has begun working in such a way until we are very excited about various possibilities. I really anticipate at by our April Newsletter we will have some very exciting news to announce We solicit your prayers at God would lead in every decision we make- I have learned long ago at if you find out where God is going and en get in step wi Him at noing is impossible or too hard. That is why it is so important e we find, and follow, His will. (Psa 37:23) The steps of a good man are ordered by e LORD: and he delighte in his way. (By e way, e right hand church on e top of our newsletter is a copy of e scale at was used when we built our fellowship building- to show balance.) YOUNG ADULT CLASS WORK: Our Young Adult Class has been at it again. Their most recent project was e construction of an outdoor swing for Mrs Marjorie McAllister to enable her to sit outside wi her ailing moer. Thanks, Class. Keep up e good work. MEMORIALS: We are pleased to acknowledge MEMORIAL GIFTS to e Outreach Ministry in Memory of: **Mrs Vonnie Mixion from Don and Kay Lewis. **Mr Barry Milton Lee from Pam Coker, Don and Kay Lewis, and Tom and Wanda Smi **Mrs Nellie Howard from Pam Coker We also appreciate Memorial to e Church Building Fund from Doroy and Dallas Wise in Memory of Milton Lee and Bob Burton EASTER EVENTS: What a joy to look forward to our annual SUNRISE SERVICE on Easter Sunday Morning (April 4 ). We will begin at 7:00am wi a special Sunrise worship service (You will need to remember at is begins Daylight Savings Time. Don t be late). Then around 8:00am we will have a breakfast meal prepared by e men of e Church- and you know what a good job ey do. At 8:45am we will reassemble for Sunday School Assembly and class. Our Easter Worship Service will begin around 10:00am and we will dismiss around 11:00am (So everyone should have time to get to moer s for dinner- and en can sleep all afternoon!) We will be on e radio during normal times at Sunday (9-noon). We plan right now to record e 7am Sunrise Service and en play it during e 11am time slot. This will give all our sick and shut in congregation an opportunity to share e blessings wi e rest of us. God has been so good to us here at Grace and I am excited about what e future holds. God is working some changes in our Church and in e Outreach Ministry but it is HIS Church and HIS Outreach Ministry so all we can do is rejoice in His leadership. What a joy to serve such a wonderful God. I pray you will have a great week filled wi God s Blessings Preacher Mike Ps 16:11

GUEST COLUMNIST ARTICLE FOR MARCH ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD REV RICKEY EVANS I began pastoring St John FWB Church in July of At at time I was also employed by Wellman Inc. in Darlington. After some time my job began to require me to work on Sundays. I felt at God would not have placed me in a church if he would not allow me to be ere, so I stepped out on fai and quit my job at Wellman. As I did so I claimed Romans 8:28 And we know at all ings work togeer for good to em at love God, to em who are e called according to his purpose. The church at is time was not able to support my family and I so I went to work for Mace Mechanical Contractors in Johnsonville. This is where I first met Tony Marlow. As we worked togeer, Tony and I became friends (I Cor. 9:22 I am made all ings to all men, at I might be all means save some) and realized at we had similar backgrounds. We bo were construction workers and had also been involved wi alcohol and oer worldly ings. After awhile I began to notice at Tony had starting missing a lot of work. Later I found out at Tony had become very sick. It greatly sadden me one day to learn at Tony had been diagnosed wi cancer. Someone told me at Tony was in e hospital so I went to see him. As I was talking wi Tony I felt led to share my testimony wi him. After I shared my testimony wi Tony I asked him if he would like to accept Christ as his Savior. He looked at me and said he was not ready at is time. After a while Tony got out of e hospital, but was never able to return to work. All during is time I continued to visit Tony and pray for him. On July 24, 1998 Tony's sister, Sherry, had a friend to call me and let me know at Tony was back in e hospital and at he wanted to see me. As soon as I received e message I went to see him. When I arrived at e room Tony said, Preacher, I knew you would come. I'm ready. I asked him en if he would like for me to pray wi him, he said yes. Tony and I held hands, prayed e sinner s prayer, and Jesus wondrously saved Tony. Tony later was able to return to his moer's home, where he remained until e end (II Tim. 4:7 - I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept e fai:). Now Tony is in Heaven rejoicing wi Jesus. During his time at his moer s home, Tony was a shining light to everyone in his family. A week after Tony went to be wi e Lord, I had e tremendous privilege to lead his broer Phillip (Bay) Marlow to e Lord. I know at God is not rough working in Tony s family yet and I look for more blessings in e future. In some ways, it was a difficult decision to leave a very good job and start all over again in order to be available for God s work. But when I ink about Tony, and all e oer people I have had e privilege to lead to e Lord in e past few years, I know at following God s will is always best- and I know at all ings work togeer for e good to ose who love e Lord and to ose who are e called according to His purpose! REV RICKEY EVANS Pastor St John FWB Church 2232 N Old Georgetown Rd Coward SC (843) (Broer Rickey has had a tremendous ministry rebuilding a Church at was almost at e point of fading away. One of e ways he has accomplished is grow is by leading many people who were well past middle age to accept Christ as Savior. We pray God will continue to Bless his ministry and use Him to lead multitudes more to trust Christ)

We had a great MISSION DAY last Sunday. The State Promotional Director, Rev Ron Moore explained about e FWB Plan of Support for Foreign Missions during our Sunday School time and en preached a good message about how we are to use our resources for e advancement of God s Work. In spite of it being a cold, rainy day we had excellent attendance, a great offering ($830 for Missions from a total offering of $2716), and some very good food and fellowship afterwards. Thank e Lord for e wonderful participation of e members of Grace Church- and ank e Lord for all e guests we had visiting wi us on is special day. INTERNET MINISTRY: If you would like to see and hear our mission service from last week en check us out on e World Wide Web- You will find is service and serval more available for you to enjoy. I have also had e opportunity recently to update our devotional articles on e web so ey will be easier to find when people are looking for a specific date. We also continue to work on putting all of our books and published material on e web- as well as Someone gave is to me a while back and I ought I would share it wi you. If you do not know Christ as Savior en pray is prayer today and trust Christ to forgive your sins and make you a new person. It will be e best ing you have ever done. A SINNER S PRAYER Lord God, I come to you as a sinner. I have been far away from you. I have not kept your commandments. I have not done your will in my life, and Lord, at is moment, I confess to you at I am a sinner. Lord Jesus, I admit at you were sent by e Faer to die on e cross for me. I admit and confess at you are e holy Son of God, and I receive you now as my savior. Lord, I turn away from my sins and my rebellion and I turn to you. Jesus come into my heart. I believe at you are Lord and I make you Lord of my life from is moment on. I ank you at you have heard my prayer and I ank you at you saved my soul. Now show me your power and fill me wi your Spirit from is time forward. I pray is in Jesus' name. Amen a lot of oer information at we have accumulated; or at was sent to us via . We continue to have very good response from our Web ministry and look forward to doing more and more in is new area. We also receive much encouragement from ose people who receive our weekly e- mail devotional articles. Continue to pray at e Lord would reach many souls and stir hearts for Christ. WHAT IF: - - That Deacon who lived next door to ose Jones boys would not have loved em enough to invite em to come to Church and learn about Jesus- I might be an unsaved bank robber today (I used to steal cigarette butts from my moer and sell em to e oer kids at school). - - I would not have answered God s call to preach e Gospel even if it meant having to start in an old tobacco pack house- My dad might be in a drunkard s Hell instead of driving tractors in Heaven (The first two people who came forward when I gave a gospel invitation were my mom and dad). - - I would have decided when I first started printing newsletters and books at it didn t increase my pay but it did tremendously increase my work load so I was going to simply be a small church pastor and learn how to play golf- ousands of people in hundreds of churches would have missed e opportunity to be more effective because of e materials and Bibles God has enabled us to distribute (The first memo machine I used was located in a windowless closet in e Church where e temperature reached 100 very often and e machine got more ink on me an it did on e papers I was trying to print. It was ere I learned at when God calls you to a task you better be prepared to stay in it for e long haul). What If. But at is a question YOU have to answer about your life and your work for God.

The Tragedy of NOT KNOWING? Rev Carroll Bazen The phrase Hast ou not KNOWN is mentioned only twice in God s Word. Bo times have significant meaning and value. 1) Hast ou not KNOWN? -THE ABILITY OF GOD- (Isa 40:28-31) Hast ou not known? hast ou not heard, at e everlasting God, e LORD, e Creator of e ends of e ear, fainte not, neier is weary? ere is no searching of his understanding. {29} He give power to e faint; and to em at have no might he increase streng. {30} Even e yous shall faint and be weary, and e young men shall utterly fall: {31} But ey at wait upon e LORD shall renew eir streng; ey shall mount up wi wings as eagles; ey shall run, and not be weary; and ey shall walk, and not faint. a-god is all-powerful (Shown in His Creation and His Ability) b-god is all-knowing (There is no searching of His Understanding) c-god is everywhere (How could you have missed seeing Him at work?) d-god fainte not (There is never a time when God is unable to do what needs to be done) e-god is not weary (In sickness, in struggles, in strife- God never abandons you) 2) Hast ou not KNOWN? - THE HEART OF JESUS- (John 14:9-13) Jesus sai unto him, Have I been so long time wi you, and yet hast ou not known me, Philip? he at ha seen me ha seen e Faer; and how sayest ou en, Show us e Faer? {10} Believest ou not at I am in e Faer, and e Faer in me? e words at I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but e Faer at dwelle in me, he doe e works. {11} Believe me at I am in e Faer, and e Faer in me: or else believe me for e very works' sake. {12} Verily, verily, I say unto you, He at believe on me, e works at I do shall he do also; and greater works an ese shall he do; because I go unto my Faer. {13} And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, at will I do, at e Faer may be glorified in e Son. Many of us have a relationship wi God, but do we really know who God is? We receive His blessings and know his Word, but do we really know Him like we say at we do? These disciples were troubled. The word Troubled here = stirred or agitated. What caused em to be troubled? a) Jesus said He was going away. b) Jesus said at one of e 12 was a traitor. c) Jesus said at Peter would disown him ree times. The heart cry of Jesus was for His disciples to know ey had been wi e Son of God. What a Tragedy at ey had walked and talked wi and yet did NOT KNOW HIM. There are 4 basic levels of knowing. 1. Lowest level is simply knowing a fact 2. Next level is to understand e tru behind e fact. 3. Third level introduces relationships 4. Four level is to have an intimate communion wi a person. Described in Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and e power of his resurrection, and e fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his dea;

The Question now becomes How to Know Him Deeper? It must be important, e word Know is used 141 times in e gospel of John. (John 14:19-24) Yet a little while, and e world see me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. {20} At at day ye shall know at I am in my Faer, and ye in me, and I in you. {21} He at ha my commandments, and keepe em, he it is at love me: and he at love me shall be loved of my Faer, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. {22} Judas sai unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it at ou wilt manifest yself unto us, and not unto e world? {23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Faer will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode wi him. {24} He at love me not keepe not my sayings: and e word which ye hear is not mine, but e Faer's which sent me. 1) By yielding to e Faer. V19-20 In all actuality is is e Holy Spirit of God. When you get saved you yield your life to Christ and He takes up residence in your heart. 2) By Loving his Word. V23-24 A Bible at s falling apart probably belongs to someone who isn t. 3) By Praying. Hannah prayed, Nehemiah prayed, Jonah prayed, Jesus prayed. Sweat as great drops of Blood. The person at Prays Prevails! 4) By Obeying. It is not what we do at matters, but what a sovereign God chooses to do rough us. God doesn t want our success; he wants us. He doesn t demand our achievements; he demands our obedience. Do you KNOW Christ today? Or do you just know about Him? Be a Happy Christian It is a blessing to be able to write to you again is mon. The Lord has really been pouring out His blessings in a real way. Our attendance has been exceptional and e Spirit has been overwhelming. There are several ings at have been going on as broer Mike has already stated. It is my prayers at God has been blessing you as well. Just last Sunday we had e privilege of having broer Ron Moore, our state promotional director, for our Sunday School hour and for e morning message.he explained e Sou Carolina missionary plan of support. It was a special mission day for us. We were fed manna from heaven spiritually and afterwards we were fed physically. It was just a great all around day of fellowship and friend making. In fact I believe at one of e best ings about Grace FWB Church is e fellowship at we are able to have. It is good as Christians to be able to have a good time. The world has all types of entertainment and devices of fun, and yet ey cannot match up to e fun at Gods people can have! Many times I look around and hear Christians complaining and murmuring about all e problems at ey have. They always have a frown on eir face and ey never say anying of positive meaning. We need to remember at we are GOD S PEOPLE and at is e greatest gift of all. It was e gift of Gods only Son dying on a cross called CALVARY for lost humanity and all of its sin. That is enough despite all of our problems to cause us to shout e VICTORY again and again. It is my prayer for you to remember what God accomplished for you and never forget where He has brought you from. If you are e type of Christian at is always unhappy and never has any joy please remember at for e sake of your spiritual victory and oers - JUST PRAISE THE LORD ANYHOW! By Carroll Bazen

OUTREACH BLESSINGS Praise e Lord for His continued Blessing on our Outreach Ministry. Our financial situation was extremely tight during January but God has remained faiful to meet our needs and it is great to see what HE is doing. > 2000 copies of James, Fai on Trial were received from e printer recently at a very good cost. We used to get e printer to print a book and en we would sort and bind it. On is book, e printer printed it, sorted it, and stapled it into a book for e normal price of just printing. Now it is ready to be used for e Lord. Thank e Lord for His constant provision. > Our web site has recently been updated by adding 5 sites of Goodies. These are various stories and illustrations sent to me via at inspire and inform people. We hope to add several more such sites in e near future. > We have also added e ABC s of Christian Character book to our web site. Hopefully, oers will soon follows. FLORIDA MATERIAL: As most of you know, While I was in Florida for e ordination service of Rev Dale Johnson a very dear friend, Mrs Anne Hall passed away and I had e great privilege of assisting in her funeral service. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed. During her sickness, Mrs Anne kept a diary of some of her oughts. I am in e process of working ose notes into a booklet right now. I believe ese notes and e scriptures we plan to add will be a great encouragement to oers who are battling wi serious sickness. Pray at God would give us streng and wisdom as we undertake is publication. We had such a wonderful time in Florida renewing old friendships and marveling at how God continues to work in e lives of His people. Shiloh is a great Church and I am excited at what God has planned for eir future. One of e great joys of spending time in Bratt was at I got to spend some time wi e pastor of Shiloh, Rev Kevin Flannagin. I really enjoyed e fellowship. As we were leaving to come home Broer Kevin shared a tape of his testimony about e dea of his child at he recently gave at e Bible Conference at FWB Bible College. Paula and I listened to is tape on e way home and we were really touched. We called broer Kevin and received permission to make some copies to share wi oers. If you would like a copy en let us know and we will be glad to send it to you. Hope to see you at Revival. Looking for God to do wonderful ings. Can t wait to report in May.... 21 HARVEST TIME Rev Jeff Hart Pastor- Prospect Independent Meodist Church 4524 Huggins Rd Lake City, SC One by One ey would come and kneel at e Stage which had been turned into an altar. Following close behind would be Classmates and Family to Pray for eier e Salvation of ese who had come forward, or to confessed eir own Sins. Conviction was so strong until it could be felt by everyone ere. Soon Praises filled e air as anoer soul was delivered from e kingdom of darkness into e marvelous light of Christ. This was e scene at e Johnsonville revival which was held at e elementary gymnasium February 22-26, At at time we truly experienced what it was like for over 300 people from different denominations, different age levels, and different races to be in one spirit and one accord. Rev. T.C. Holmes from Conway was e evangelist while Aaron Butler and e praise and worship team led e music. We witnessed 79 salvation decisions and 81 rededications. It was truly a heaven sent revival at stirred everyone who attended. The services would begin wi e singing of praise and worship choruses followed by a skit or some special music. The music did a great job of setting e mood for e preaching of Broer T. C.. He is a young man of 28 years but preaches wi experience far beyond his years. Broer T.C. preached wi auority and in demonstration of e spirit's power. If I sum up his messages, it would simply be is: you have two choices, heaven or hell. He cut rough all e religious jargon and got to e heart of e matter; do you want to go to heaven or do you want to go to hell? The fear of God fell on people and it was awesome to see so many people, especially young people, get saved. It was also a blessing to see young people come back night after night and worship God in a way ey never knew ey could. There was liberty to praise God and ese young people had e time of eir lives...in church. I know ey loved it because ey came back every night and brought more wi em. Many of em begged eir parents to bring em back (When was e last time your child begged you to take em to church?). People are starving for God and young people are no exception. I can honestly say at if anyone went to e Johnsonville revival and left wiout eir cup running over; ey must have had eir cup turned upside down. Broer T.C. Holmes can be reached at (843) God Bless You and May Revival Fires Burn your way. Rev Jeff Hart has been e Pastor of Prospect Independent Meodist Church for nearly 8 years and has a wonderful ministry ere. I got to know and love Broer Jeff while he helped us one summer as he was attending Free Will Baptist Bible College. He is married to a wonderful young lady, Karessa and ey have 3 boys- Britt (7), Austin (5) and Christopher (3). After e Revival Broer Jeff mentioned in his article, Broer T.C. Holmes preached a week of Revival Services at Prospect Independent Meodist Church wi 15 Salvation Decisions. Broer Jeff s favorite verse is (Psa 34:8) O taste and see at e LORD is good: blessed is e man at truste in him.

Thoughts to Ponder By Carroll Bazen It has been a Great mon here at Grace, and we are looking for ings to get even better. We have had several new people to visit our church and for at we ank God. They are truly a blessing and we appreciate em so very much. Many of you reading is column are probably inking at I always say at it has been a great mon and you are probably wondering if anying ever seems to go wrong. Well, don t wonder, because we all have good times and bad times, mountains and valley at we have to go rough. But is one ing I know, at rough it all no matter what it is God is still good and is in total control. I am reminded of Acts 5:40-41 And to him ey agreed: and when ey had called e apostles, and beaten em, ey commanded at ey should not speak in e name of Jesus, and let em go. (41) And ey departed from e presence of e council, rejoicing at ey were counted wory to suffer shame for his name. If ey were able to rejoice at ey were counted wory to suffer shame for His name how much more should I rejoice in my problems? That doesn t mean I am always happy about em, but at does mean at I can have joy in em. Sure ey may seem big, but if you look around, ey seem smaller and smaller. Anyway, if e devil seems to always be knocking on your door, be ankful, you must be doing someing right. Not only were ey beaten, but ey rejoiced in it. Then as Acts 5:42 says And daily in e temple, and in every house, ey ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. They did not stop. They continued doing what God wanted em to do. In most cases when we are confronted wi a problem or an attitude we are ready to row in e towel and quit! Breren is ought not be! We have got to stop quitting and growing cold on God. God is alive, His Word is alive, and He lives in us. If we keep feeding e spirit of God in our lives ere is no way we can turn on Him. Many people today have lost interest in God as if He can be replaced wi any and every whim of e world. The tru is we need to get back to REAL CHRISTIANITY(someing no one seems to be able to define today). I was reading in my devotions and is verse really came to heart. It was in Isaiah 46:9 Remember e former ings of old: for I am God, and ere is none else; I am God, and ere is none like me. Truly we need to remember e way ings were when we were fully dedicated to God and when we were filled wi e Holy Spirit of God. Just next week we will be holding revival services at e church. During at time we will be praying at God really does someing in e heart of His people, but e tru is if we are not ready for what God has for us we will miss it. If we don t have a desire to serve God or to renew our relationships to Him en we will have missed e most important boat of our lives.

THE TWO MAJOR HINDRANCES TO REVIVAL by Rev Mike Jones... wherefore should ey say among e people, where is eir God? (Joel 2:17). How God must hide His face in shame and humiliation as e forces of evil rampage over e ear while His paralyzed and powerless Church tries to "hold its own". Altars are barren, baptismal pools are deep in dust, and people look to raffles and e sale of dinner plates in order to pay e light bill. The world grows more and more wicked, Society is in chaos, and e Church spends its time talking about self improvement and patiently living wi your problems instead of boldly proclaiming e life changing, world shaking, Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you know one of e saddest parts about is? Deep down inside e world, who now laughs at us and wonders if our God is asleep or on vacation, really WANTS to see God in all of His Streng and Stability (By e way, is is e reason e Antichrist will so easily gain world control in e very near future - men are looking for someone wi power and auority to take control of e present chaos. After seeing how weak and ineffective e Church is, e world will readily follow is powerful charismatic figure and worship at his altar of peace and prosperity.). The Church is aware of e situation. When Christians meet and ask "How are ings at your Church?, ey bo shift eir eyes and make a few lame excuses; and ey bo go away wi a deep longing in eir heart for e brea of God to breae afresh into e Body of Christ at is almost a corpse. Why is it is way and what can be done? I'm going to list two major hindrances to Revival. A ousand problem areas could be listed here but I believe ese two hindrances are e ROOT reasons we fail to have Revival. Please understand at ese are not just a couple of problems ought up in order to make an article. I have personally had e misfortune of facing ese hindrances in Church; and, Thank God, I have been blessed to see Real Revival when ey were overcome. The first hindrance to revival was easy to figure out. I just went to Revelation Chapter ree and looked for e problem of e Laodicean Church (That is e Church age we live in today) and it was as simple as could be -- SELF SATISFACTION (I am rich, and increased wi goods, and have need of noing). Some how, in days gone by, Christians have become more concerned wi Goods an wi God, wi Pleasures an wi Power, and wi a Satisfying Life an wi winning Souls. (If e average Church expended as much effort winning souls as ey do raising money for new carpet our altars would no longer be barren!). Revival can come only when Christians realize again at we are Pilgrims and strangers on is ear wi a mission for God. Our job is not to settle down but to stir up. May God help us to become dissatisfied wi e gold of is world and look for a city where e streets are made of gold -- en God will not be ashamed to be called our God!! (Heb. 11:16) What are some signs of Self Satisfaction? 1) Apay - Church is one of many priorities in your life; and no where near e top of your list. You are not against e Church, you just have so many oer ings going on in your life until you forget how important e word of God and e work of God really is. 2) Lack of Commitment - Somebody needs to do someing wi e Teens, or at vacant Sunday School Class, or e choir, or... but you can t tie yourself down to at obligation. Everyone knows at family, beach house, or vacation demands at least one week end a mon from you.

3) Lost of Burden for e Lost - The Main ing is no longer e main ing 4) Unwillingness to recognize YOUR need of Repentance and Renewal - God MUST love me e way I am. I am prosperous and everyone else likes me- (Luke 6:25-26) Woe unto you at are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you at laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did eir faers to e false prophets. The second Hindrance to Revival is not as easily identified and will shock some of you -- it is our RELIGIOUS WORK! Notice in Rev. 3:20 at Christ is standing outside e Church knocking for entrance into e Church in order to have Fellowship wi e Church. The problem is at Christians have become so busy wi our religious forms and activities until we don't have time to really meet wi God. God has told us plainly at e only way we will learn about Him is to spend time wi Him, but we find ourselves so busy doing good works until we never have time to spend time wi God. And, in e same tone, e only way we will ever change from exhausted Saints struggling to get rough a service into powerful proclaimer of e Word of God is by waiting on e Lord to renew our streng- (Isa 40:29-31) God give power to e faint; and to em at have no might he increase streng. {30} Even e yous shall faint and be weary, and e young men shall utterly fall: {31} But ey at wait upon e LORD shall renew eir streng; ey shall mount up wi wings as eagles; ey shall run, and not be weary; and ey shall walk, and not faint. It is e strange case of e new "Bride" who spends so much time cooking and cleaning and getting pretty until she has no time for her husband -- and wonders why e marriage is in trouble! Revival can only come when we realize afresh at sinners are dead in trespasses and sins (Ep. 2:11) and no amount of man made effort or organization can raise e dead. The real need is not more work but more waiting. And as we wait and renew our streng we will find ourselves able to do much more work in much less time! The Hindrances en to Revival are Self Satisfaction and ineffective Work. The answers are a commitment to God, a burden for souls, and a reliance upon God for Streng. This is not someing at needs to take place only one week a year. It demands a continual DAILY COMMITMENT -- and at is Real Revival! (Joel 2:12-18) Therefore also now, sai e LORD, turn ye even to me wi all your heart, and wi fasting, and wi weeping, and wi mourning: {13} And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto e LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repente him of e evil. {14} Who knowe if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto e LORD your God? {15} Blow e trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: {16} Gaer e people, sanctify e congregation, assemble e elders, gaer e children, and ose at suck e breasts: let e bridegroom go for of his chamber, and e bride out of her closet. {17} Let e priests, e ministers of e LORD, weep between e porch and e altar, and let em say, Spare y people, O LORD, and give not ine heritage to reproach, at e heaen should rule over em: wherefore should ey say among e people, Where is eir God? {18} Then will e LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

REVIVAL REPORT: We had a great Revival. Attendance was much above e normal, e preaching and singing were just great, and e movement of God in e lives of people gave us yet anoer reason to praise God s wonderful name. Hope you have viewed our services on e web or have received a tape- it will bless your heart. CHILD DEDICATION: Talking of Blessings. We were privileged is past Sunday to Dedicate my great nephew-taylor M Jones to e Lord. Taylor is e son of Spence and Melanie Jones (and my broer Tracy s grandson- Boy, my baby broer is getting old!). We had a wonderful service wi many members of my family in all of our services, and I praise e Lord for e great Spirit we felt. YOUTH ACTIVITIES: You will notice from Preacher Carroll s page at several You activities are upcoming. THIS SUNDAY IS YOUTH SUNDAY- we normally designate each 5 Sunday as You Sunday but several circumstances caused us to move it up one Sunday. The 9am Service will be filled wi You participation, a special offering for our You fund, and a special You Speaker- Rev Chris Wall. Then at 11am, Preacher Carroll will preach a special service as we honor our Graduates (By e way, Preacher Carroll has been invited to give e Baccalaureate sermon at e New Prospect FWB Church Christian School is year. This will be e first time a graduate of e school has given e Baccalaureate Sermon). Also note e White water rafting trip planned for June. We are looking for a good time of fellowship- almost as many adults have signed up as young people; and is year several of e teens from our FWB Children s Home in Turbeville will be going wi us. Can t wait to baptize Preacher Carroll in at cold mountain stream water! Let me also say a special word of appreciation to our You Teachers. They conducted a Lord, Heal my Hurts class for our Teens from January - April and e attendance was phenomenal. This class gave a great special program is past Wednesday night about what ey had learned and I ink everyone was impressed. Thanks LeAnne, Kay, Brenda, and Jan; your work will yield eternal results. MEMORIALS: We praise e Lord for Memorials to our Outreach Ministry from Don and Kay Lewis in memory of Mrs Sarah Cooke (Mrs Doroy s Sister) and from Butch and Jan Hayes in memory of Barry Lee (Mrs Alea s Broer). The Lord continues to give us amazing opportunities to reach people wi e Gospel via is ministry and gifts like is are greatly appreciated. God is our ONLY source of supply- but He has never failed us yet so we are still excited about reaching even more people rough e multiplicity of ministries God has entrusted to our care. PASTOR S PART: I have been praying in great earnest recently at God will guide and direct in everying I do. The Doctor gave me a clean bill of heal (Said to wait 18 mons before I even made an appointment- Glory!). I guess at means God is going to allow me to stay here for a few more years. I was looking forward to going home but since God left me here I want to make sure I use ese extra years He has given me to e greatest advantage for e Kingdom of Christ. I am not sure what is coming down e pa; or even what pa I should take, but my trust is in e direction of a wonderful God who has always led me right. Pray wi me at God will be glorified in all we do. Hope to see you in e Services of Grace soon. May God give you a GREAT week.... Preacher Mike Ps 16:11

God Is Good by Carroll Bazen One more mon has passed by and I would like to say it is good to be a Christian and be able to live victorious in Christ Jesus. God has been good to us here at Grace. He has continued to pour out His blessing to us in a special way. We have been able to see many prayers answered and are continuing to pray for many, many more. Last mon has also been a mon of many revival services going on roughout e area wi many GREAT speakers. The Great news about ose revivals is at many people have been saved or made a deeper commitment to Christ. Cold Christians have been revived and new Christians have been springing up. It rills my heart to see God at work in so many of e local churches in e area. The one ing at I ask of you is at you pray for ese new converts and e many decisions at have been made in e past mon. Pray, Pray, Pray for God to continue to stir up people for His work. I have also had e privilege of hearing Dr John Chang speak on several occasions last mon. He is preparing to go to Sou Korea as a Free Will Baptist Foreign Missionary. Each time he spoke he shared his heart and blessed mine. Please pray for is man of God and his family as ey labor for Christ in e upcoming mons. Not only have many ings been going on around Grace FWB Church, but ere has also been some great ings happening at Grace FWB Church. I am so looking forward to is mon wi e many ing at will be going on. rd This Sunday May 23 we will be having our Quarterly You Sunday Service. This service will begin around 9:00am wi e you having total control of e service. We have Laicey Allen and Jonaan Smi at will be singing for us. Then Rev Chris Wall, currently you pastor at Camp Branch Free Will Baptist Church, will bring e morning message. We also will take up our You Fund offering, which will go to help wi e summer trip. Instead of fund raisers e church decided a long time ago at is would be a better way to fund you activities and it has worked well over e past several years. We take up is offering every rd ree mons and it funds any activity at e you have. Not only will Sunday May 23 be You Sunday but we will also honor our graduates on is special day during e 11:00am service. Our graduates for 1999 will be Jonaan Smi, David McGee, and Alisha Patton. We are very proud of em and wish em e very best as ey make many important decisions in e upcoming mons. Anoer special event at will be going on is mon is our Summer Rafting Trip. This event will take place on June 11 and 12 and we are really looking forward to having a GREAT TIME. We will meet at e church and plan on leaving around 9:00am on e 11. We hope to make it to Cherokee, NC in e early afternoon and en be able to relax for a little while. The rafting adventure will take place on Saturday morning at 8:30. Wi no injuries or casualties we hope to leave for home somewhere after dinner. If everying goes according to schedule we will be back home somewhere between 8 and 9pm Saturday night. Home in plenty of time for everyone to rest and be back in church on Sunday morning.

ODD NOTES PAGE >>>We normally have a guest columnist on is page. Due to a failure to communicate on our part, e person scheduled to give eir testimony of how God worked in eir life to lead someone to Christ was unavailable at press time. We look forward to is tremendous article in our June Newsletter. In e mean time, here are a few Odd Notes at I have collected. Y2K Hints If your VCR is not Y2K compliant simply set your calender on e VCR to This will make your dates and days come out right for recording. Begin putting up some water and a few oer supplies by September First of is year. Many computer programs use 9999 as a meod of telling e computer at e program is ended. September 9 of 1999 will be viewed by e computer as and it may shut some programs down. (Put water in gallon jug and add 3 drops of Clorox bleach to keep it pure for up to 6 mons. Purchase a few batteries for your flashlight- The shelf life of most batteries is over 3 years so ese can be used at any time if ere is no problem). Remember our motto- Wise as serpents but harmless as doves. Don t panic or go overboard. Just use a little wisdom and prudence- e same way you would do if a Hurricane was forecast to hit our area. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** A riddle for you: One of our Children s Church classes used is riddle recently. I have no idea where it came from but I ought it might be interesting to see if YOU can figure it out. WHAT IS IT??? (When asked is riddle, 80% of kindergarten students got e answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors!) What is Greater an God More Evil an e devil The Poor have it The Rich need it And if you eat it, you will die? (Hint- The answer is ONE WORD and seven letters long) FOUNDATIONS TO BUILD A LIFE ON: 1) Your relationship to God Through Christ is e most important aspect of life. Make all your plans accordingly. 2) Character is more important an Cash- What you are is more important an what you have. Set your goals accordingly. (Character is what you are when no one see what you are.) 3) To Lose FAITH is to Lose Life. Guard your heart accordingly. Lose of Fai kills your relationship to God, to oers, and to loved ones. Remember, e most miserable man in e world is not e man who has no possessions or who has lots of troubles. The most miserable man in e world is one who loses fai in e transforming, Resurrecting power of God (1 Cor 15:19) If in is life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 4) Abundant Life is becoming what God has put into your Heart; not what oers have put into your mind. Live your life accordingly. The only way to real peace and joy in life is finding where God wants you to be and en joining God at work ere.

10 WAYS TO SAFEGUARD YOUR FAMILY We are living in difficult times. Families are Fracturing at an alarming rate. Not only is divorce on e increase in society in general but it is also on e increase among Church members. And divorce is no longer confined to ose in eir first five years of marriage; it is showing an amazing increasing among ose who have been married for 20 years or more! The family is under attack; and, in many cases, we appear to be losing e battle! Schools are Dangerous-THEY TOOK PRAYER OUT OF SCHOOL AND NOW OUR CHILDREN DON T HAVE A PRAYER! Parents fear to send eir children to School because ey fear at Guns, Governmental sponsored Humanistic teaching, or Generational pressures will kill eir children in eier body, mind, or soul. The More we give our family e less ey appreciate what ey have! The Misery Index and e Money Index increase togeer so at no matter how hard you work to provide for your family it never seems to be enough. Your family blames you for not providing everying ey can imagine and so you work as hard as you can so at Society can blame you when your children go wrong by saying you were so busy until you did not spend enough time wi your family! Sometimes you feel like rowing up your hands and quitting. The good news from God today is at ere is Hope, and Help, for you- and for your family. Let me share wi you 10 Guidelines at will enable you to safeguard your family against e attack being launched against em by e World, by Satan, and by Society. FIRST- Accept Christ as YOUR personal Savior- (Acts 16:30-31) (The Jailor) said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And ey said, Believe on e Lord Jesus Christ, and ou shalt be saved, and y house. You will never make a difference in your family until God makes a difference in your life. Give your heart to God; and en give your family to God! Claim em all for Christ and give God no rest (Is 62:7) until ey are all in e ark of safety. SECOND- Make it your GOAL to lead your children to Trust Christ at an early age- (Mat 19:14) But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid em not, to come unto me: for of such is e kingdom of heaven. Don t leave e salvation of your children and your family to chance. Bring em before God in prayer. Tell em how wonderful God is to you. Make sure each member of your family knows HOW to be saved. Invite e preacher, revival speakers, and missionaries to your home for meals and fellowship. THIRD- Put e Word of God in your Heart, your Home, and Your Habits- (Deu 6:6-9) And ese words, which I command ee is day, shall be in ine heart: {7} And ou shalt teach em diligently unto y children, and shalt talk of em when ou sittest in ine house, and when ou walkest by e way, and when ou liest down, and when ou risest up. {8} And ou shalt bind em for a sign upon ine hand, and ey shall be as frontlets between ine eyes. {9} And ou shalt write em upon e posts of y house, and on y gates. The word of God is Pure (Ps 119:9), Powerful (Heb 4:12), and Precious (2 Pet 1:4). Let your family know it is your guide and your confidence as you base your decisions in life on its instructions.

FOURTH- Follow God s CHAIN OF COMMAND- GOD, FATHER, MOTHER. CHILDREN. Women are wonderful but eir tender heart allows em to be easily swayed by Satan s strategy (Eve). Children are a joy but woe is e home in which ey rule (Prov 29:15). The collapse of e family in recent days can be directly traced to e time when men, women, and children decided to replace God s order wi a man made order. FIFTH- Encourage your Family to be ACTIVELY involved in God s Work. Someing will fill your family s time. You can allow at someing to be TV, Video games, Social Events, or worldly companions, or you can lead your family to become involved in eternity enterprises. SIXTH- Avoid Oprah type TV Shows and most Women's Magazine like e most deadly plague- They are based on Humanistic teaching or man made philosophies and a little leaven corrupts e entire loaf of bread (I Cor 5:6). Make sure at e ings at guide e walk and talk of your family are ings at lead em to live right and talk right. SEVENTH- Learn and teach e PERMANENT PRINCIPLES OF PROVERBS. There are 31 chapters in Proverbs. Read and study e one at corresponds to e day of e mon. Proverbs gives guidelines about Wisdom, Work, Women, Weal, Wine, Wickedness, Words, Ways of men, Worry, and Wastefulness. These are principles your family needs to know. EIGHTH- Make a Public Stand for Right and Righteousness- (Josh 24:15) And if it seem evil unto you to serve e LORD, choose you is day whom ye will serve; wheer e gods which your faers served at were on e oer side of e flood, or e gods of e Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve e LORD. Lot allowed his wife and children to drag him into Sodom where his righteous soul was vexed every day (2 Pet 2:7) wi e lifestyle of is wicked city. Because Lot would not make a stand for e right he ended up having no influence for God wi ose in e city, wi his children, or wi his wife. Ten righteous men would have saved e city, and Lot s family, but Lot was so busy building a home (at God was going to burn down) until he never made a stand. NINTH- Keep your Home Snake Free We had a snake problem in our parsonage in Florida as snakes came into our house rough a hidden hole in a closet. It was not a situation we found enjoyable! Yet, it amazes me to see how many people allow snakes to invade eir home every day via TV, Music, Books, Games, etc.. Adam found out at Paradise can turn into orns, sweat, and broken fellowship wi God when snakes come to visit. Don t invite em into your home. FINALLY- Trust God to Care for your Family- (Mat 18:10) Take heed at ye despise not one of ese little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven eir angels do always behold e face of my Faer which is in heaven. You can t be everywhere; and you can t control oer people who are being guided by Self, Society s values, or Satan. But God has made promises to e members of HIS family about His care for eir family. And He has promised you can trust Him to do right-(1 Pet 5:7) Casting all your care upon him; for he care for you. God WANTS your family to be a part of His family in Heaven. He will help you to safeguard em if you will only follow His directions. Just remind yourself of someing- When you come to dea s door, e only ing on ear you can carry wi you to Heaven is e family at has been won to Christ! Arrange your priorities accordingly.

What a JOY to be able to share wi you again what God is doing at Grace Church; and all over e world rough our Outreach Ministry. Our God is an awesome God at blesses His children far more an we could ever deserve and I count it a tremendous honor to be able to serve Him and spread His name in as many places as possible, using as many meods as possible. June has been a very slow mon financially for Grace and Glory, while at e same time we have received increasing requests for books, bibles, and tapes. I was really sweating how I was going to pay all e end of e mon bills when someone donated $5000 to our Outreach Ministry is week (Excuse me while I just shout, Glory! ). Once again God has shown His ability to provide our needs if we will just faifully do His will. Here are just a few of e opportunities e Lord has give us recently to share our ministry wi oers: - - A Church in Kansas requested 12 sets of New Testament on Cassette for distribution to shut in people. (Continued on back) MEMORIALS: We praise e Lord for a Memorial to our Outreach Ministry from Don and Kay Lewis in memory of Mrs Lottie Foxwor. A wonderful lady we miss greatly.

- - A Church in Hemingway wanted 20 copies of Revelation for Bible Study. That cleaned us out of Revelation books but we hope to print anoer hundred is week. - - A young college student who used some of our Bibles for evangelism during e School year is now using our material in his summer jail ministry. Many are being saved and we are glad to supply e bibles and books he uses to reach ese people for Christ. - - Request for books, newsletters, or tapes come in almost daily; and we sure are glad. RADIO CLOSURE- For nearly 30 years our Church has had a program of some kind on our local radio station. During e past few mons e station has had a tremendous amount of problems maintaining full power and even staying on e air. After a great deal of Prayer, e deacons and I decided at it would be best for us to discontinue our radio program. We really hate is since so many shut in people had become accustomed to listening to our services each week. The sound quality and intermittent operation of e station over e past few mons, however, had caused many of ese people to give up trying to listen. We hope ese people will request video or audio tapes of our services - and we are seeking anoer avenue of consistent communication at we hope will soon be available to share our services wi ese people. IN THE MEAN TIME: Remember at you can watch and listen to many of our services on our web site- And please continue to pray for God to give us guidance about what direction we should take. God WANTS e gospel to go to all e world and He will provide everying we need to accomplish at. FOURTH OF JULY FAMILY FLING NEXT SUNDAY- JULY 4TH We want to have a special service in which we celebrate our freedom as Americans and our freedom in Christ. Many special activities will take place during opening assembly and during e preaching service. Bring your entire family. This will be a dress down Sunday since we will be having many activities following ese services- Shorts are not allowed and any cloing must be modest. Of course, no advertisements for e world or it philosophy will be accepted. 9am- Sunday School Classes 10am- Morning Worship Service 11am- Pre Lunch Activities while our Cooks grill us some hamburger and hot dogs. Noon- Fellowship Meal 1:00pm- Wet and Wild activities for e entire family 2:00pm Ice Cream Cool Down and dismissal PASTOR S PART: One of e great joys of Christian living is seeing how God is at work in e lives of His people. Dea, disease, disaster, triumphs, graduations, abundance; all have been part of is past mon. Yet, rough it all, I was able to see God at work in marvelous ways. It is simply great to be a servant of God. The funeral services for Mrs Erin Hill in Mississippi and e sickness and dea of Mrs Lottie Forwor in Georgetown made for several busy weeks (over 1000 miles per week) but God worked in ese situations also. Hope you can visit Grace on your vacation is Summer. We have a lot of activities planned and we expect God to Bless. Come share it ese blessings... Preacher Mike Ps 16:11

DEFEATING SATAN Ephesians 6:10-18 We must constantly be reminded at we exist in a state of war wi Satan. He is out to destroy our lives, our families, and our testimony; as well as drive us away from God to be eternally lost. How can we, as Christians, win is war against Satan and e World? THE SCOUTING REPORT: When going into battle ere are 4 basic ings you need to find out about e enemy: 1. Distinguish e Enemy. Who are you fighting??? For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against e rulers of e darkness of is world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph 6:12). This is a Spiritual Battle; don't spend your time fighting People! Sometimes e Devil is a Roaring Lion and sometimes he's an angel of light. We must learn to resist him no matter what disguise he wears. 2. Determine e objective. What do you hope to accomplish or prevent? Paul said our goal was at ye may be able to stand against e wiles of e devil (Ep 6:11). Are you out to do Battle or simply to get a Blessing?? Most Christians just want to enjoy life. They don't mind Satan winning every now and en as long as it doesn't inconvenient em. Are you looking for Pleasure in e flesh or Progress in your spiritual life?? 3. Evaluate e Forces. What are: A) YOUR Weaknesses- Sinful Nature in Self. Keep your weak Places well protected. B) YOUR Strengs- Be strong IN THE LORD and in e power of his might (Ep 6:10). You wouldn't fight an armed enemy wi a broom and you shouldn't fight Satan in your own streng. C) The ENEMY'S Weaknesses- he is already defeated in e Cross. Fai is e "Meod" we use to avail ourselves of at weapon. D) The ENEMY'S Strengs- Temptation is real! Human nature is weak. Satan is an accomplished liar and very Smart! Don't underestimate him. 4. Pursue a Plan of Attack. Go from e Drawing board to e Battlefield. God did not call us to be "Hoouse" Christians. We must live and work in a sinful world. We can ignore Satan while he builds Strongholds in our life-- or we can live e life of Victory in Christ. When you find a Satanic Stronghold in your life; deal wi it and destroy it. THE BATTLE PLAN: The Christian fights in 3 main areas: 1. His Cloes- The Whole Armor of God: a. Feet- Preparation of Gospel of Peace (Foundation) b. Helmet- Salvation (Protects e Mind) c. Breastplate- Righteousness (Protects e Heart) d. Loins- Tru ("Holds up" everying else) e. Shield- Fai ("Hide" behind to escape Satan's Darts) f. Sword- Word of God (Only Offensive weapon) 2. His Conduct- Rom 6:16 Know ye not, at to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; wheer of sin unto dea, or of obedience unto righteousness? 3. His Cross- Mk 8:34-35 Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and e gospel's, e same shall save it. We know e outcome of e Battle. Don't become one of e Casualties of e Conflict.

GUEST SOUL WINNING COLUMN- An opportunity for oer Pastors to share how God helped em lead someone to accept Christ as Savior; which will, hopefully, provide readers of is newsletter wi e information and incentive ey need to lead oers to Christ SOUL WINNING: The Fire at Saved from e Fire Rev Wayland Owens, Pastor- First FWB Church of Kingstree, SC (Jude 1:23) And oers save wi fear, pulling em out of e fire; hating even e garment spotted by e flesh. On July 4 weekend of 1998 a middle aged couple decided to take a camping trip on Santee Lake. A gas leak in eir trailer caused an explosion while e couple were cooking breakfast. They were bo engulfed in flames and badly burned. A sister of e lady in e accident attends our church. She received e tragic news at her sister and broer in-law were being taken to e Medical University of Sou Carolina Burn Center in Charleston. My wife and I went to e hospital to give e family our support. On arrival at e hospital I was asked to go in e Burn Unit to visit e lady at was burned. I had seen burn victims before and knew what to expect but it was still a very difficult time. It is not always easy to minister to someone at is severely burned wi tubes down eir roat and a badly swollen body. You do not know if you will be able to communicate or not. But ank God she knew who I was and even ough she could not speak she communicated wi me by nodding her head. I knew she was not a Christian so I began to share e gospel wi her. I prayed for her and asked God to help her physically and spiritually. I told her at even ough she could not pray out loud she could repeat e sinner's prayer in her mind and God would save her. She nodded "yes" at she understood. Praise e Lord, when I asked her if she had trusted Christ and prayed e sinner s Prayer, she nodded Yes! I went out and shared e good news wi e family. We encouraged e family to go to e chapel in e hospital and pray for is dear lady and her husband. And, wonderfully, a son, a daughter, and a son-in law all received Christ as eir Savior in e chapel at night. The lady's husband was more severely burned and was not able to communicate at night. But during a later visit in September of 1998 he also prayed and trusted Christ as his Savior. At is time e lady had made progress and was in a erapy unit. Just a few weeks ago, in May of 1999, e lady who attends our church stood to give a testimony about her sister. Her sister had told her at she remembers very little about ose first weeks in e Burn Unit, but she did remember praying wi me at night and asking God to save her. Amen! God is good! Jesus came to Ear to seek and to save ose who were lost. Soul winning has eternal value. Take time to tell someone of God's salvation plan and lead em to receive Christ as eir Savior today. Don t wait for em to get into e flames before you try to pull em out of e flames! in Christ, Bro. Wayland Owens Pastor, First FWB Church of Kingstree.

WELCOME to our July edition of Grace and Glory Newsletter. We are a week late due to MANY activities, e National Association of FWB in Atlanta, and VBS but we are rilled to get e opportunity to again share wi you what God is doing at Grace Church and in Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry. Where do I begin? So much has happened until it is going to be hard to tell it all. Let s start wi our Four of July Family Fun Day. We had a GREAT day of worship and Christian Fellowship. Lots to eat (boiled peanuts, watermelon, Grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, desserts, etc), Many activities at involved getting WET in one way or anoer, and a great attendance for our Sunday School and Worship Service- A service topped off when Charles, Lottie, and Christy Hanna joined our Church and became a part of e growing family at Grace. They are wonderful people and we look forward to God using em in a mighty way in our Ministry here. It is great to see many new faces in our Church- hope all will be members soon

We have added several NEW PROGRAMS to our Schedule Recently: SUPERLATIVE SAINTS- Friday, July 9 was e first meeting of our Superlative Saints (Those over 35). Rev Larry McAlister gave an excellent devotion to kick off our program. This was followed by an excellent meal and lots of games- including one at allowed us to see who could get rid of money e quickest, men or woman! (Guess who won!). We are looking forward to our next meeting on Friday, September 17. More details in e next newsletter. MEN S FELLOWSHIP- On Saturday, July 24 we began our new Men s Fellowship. Broer Earl Bazen stirred our hearts wi his message on e Worship of God before we enjoyed a great meal of grilled steaks wi all e trimmings prepared by Joel Jones and Preacher Carroll. Everyone seemed to have a great time and said ey look forward to our September meeting when Don Lewis and Marion Coker will provide e meal. When you add ese to our already established meetings for GLEAMERS (up to age 10), GYF (11-18), Young Adult Fellowship (19-35), and Ladies Auxiliary (I am certainly not dumb enough to list an age for is one!!); it means we have Christian activities for EVERY member of your family here at Grace. Join us is week and see what God is doing in and rough His people. So much more to say and we are out of time and room. Sully did a GREAT job wi VBS. Our Video projector at e Church had begun to show signs of it s 10 years of life but God worked and Joel and Glenda Jones gave us a NEW Projector- it s wonderful- GLORY! God is so GOOD. Can t wait to visit you again in August Preacher Mike Ps 16:11 PREACHER CARROLL S COLUMN Isn t it a joy to be able to live and breae in a country such as America. The Lord is so good to us at I couldn t imagine life wiout Him or His blessings. No matter where you are or what going on God is still on His rone and is still in total and complete control. He has blessed us wi our summer of activities and services. Our July 4 day was fantastic, our car wash went GREAT, and is week we have been right in e middle of VBS and e Lord has sure poured His blessings out on at as well. The most exciting part about all of is is e fact at it is not over yet. Here are some more ings at will be happening around here in e next few week. On August 6-7 e Young Adults SS Class will have its Special Fishing Trip at one of e men in e churches house at e lake. We plan on leaving e church at 6:00pm on Friday e 6 and will probably return in e late afternoon on e 7. Our last activity like is was a great time of fellowship so young adult s please plan on attending. Then on August 15 at 6:00pm we will have our Teen Sub-Night here at e church. This meeting will be filled wi physical activity, but most important spiritual lessons. SO TEENS - Mark it on YOUR calendars. Don t Leave Him Out Assistant Pastor Carroll Bazen As I look on all e activities at we have had and e ones at we are planning (If e Lord tarries) ere is one ing at I want to make clear. Activities are fun to have, but activities do not make Christian s. While ey do make for fun fellowship e most important part of any fellowship is e spiritual emphasis. If e Lord does not show up and His presence is not felt en what have we done. If we don t feel at we have been led by God or at we have even been wi God en we have failed. The presence of God is e most important link in our chain. Please don t misunderstand what I am saying I do ink it is important to keep our young people busy, but I also ink at it is vitally important at in e midst of at busyness at ey realize some important trus to eir life and at is at God loves em and desires to know em personally.

MEMORIALS: We praise e Lord for Memorials to our Outreach Ministry from Don and Kay Lewis in memory of Mr Harris Smi, Mr Charles McAllister, and Broer Damon Runion s Aunt. We also appreciate a gift to our Helping Hand Fund from Butch and Jan Hayes in Memory of Mrs Lottie Foxwor. We gave em e grand tour of our Church and ey saw how God has blessed and used our ministry so at when we preach a sermon here at Grace it is captured on audio and video tapes, broadcast over Radio, prepared for e Internet, shown on church slides, and, many times, printed in our Newsletter. They liked what ey saw so much until Broer Upton recommended me to serve on e Media Commission of our National Association and, will wonders never cease, I was selected. This will give us a tremendous opportunity to promote FWB and e Lord s work across our nation via radio, TV, and e Internet (Plus oer ings we are looking into). The Lord has been preparing me for is kind of work for years and I am very excited about doing all I can. I pray at a year from now, when our National Association meets in California, at we will have some materials available for our denomination at will lead to a tremendous Revival and great grow ( I can t wait to visit in Broer Upton s church and see what God has done for him as he uses e ideas we plan to share wi him from our ministry here). An important meod of reaching people as we advance into e new millennium is e Internet. I recently developed a W eb site for e FW B Children s Home in Turbeville, SC ( As soon as ey get me some pictures and information it is going to be a great site. I am also helping several oer people wi eir web sites as well. All will have a link to Graceandglory.com - A tremendous opportunity to reach an ever increasing congregation wi e message of Christ. What an exciting time to be alive! During our Quarterly Church Conference on July 14 e Church decided to: 1) Ordain Tommy Sullivan and Joel Jones as st Deacons on Sunday, August 1 (They have completed eir trial period; and have done an excellent job during at time.) 2) Recommend to e SC Conference at Rev David Ponder be examined for ordination. 3) Accepted a recommendation by e Deacons to delay our building project for a short time. 4) Voted to auorize e Deacons to install a new AC/Heat unit in e Church (Present AC is 15 years old and heating unit is over 35 years old). 5) Accepted our Quarterly Financial Report: Balance $5, Income- April- June $23, Total to account for $29, Expenses- April-June $22, BALANCE JUNE 30, $7, ) Auorized e Children s Church Fund to contribute $100 to our Computer for Carlisle Hanna project. The You Car Wash and e offering from VBS should complete our needed total. The Deacons also agreed to begin parking on e end of e fellowship building or behind e Church in order to free up parking spaces in front of e church- Isn t it wonderful at we have to begin worrying about finding a parking place!! YOUTH CAR WASH- Our first ever You Car Wash was a great Success- and a LOT of work. Preacher Carroll and e Teens arrived at e Church at 8:00am on Saturday, July 24 and cleaned and washed cars until 3:00pm at afternoon. They worked hard, got very hot (and WET!) and were able to raise over $500 toward our Computer for Missionary Carlisle Hanna project. Thanks to everyone who helped.

GUEST SOUL WINNING COLUMN- An opportunity for oer Christians to share how God helped em lead someone to accept Christ as Savior; which will, hopefully, provide readers of is newsletter wi e information and incentive ey need to lead oers to Christ DON T EVER GIVE UP By Mrs Bonnie Byars (Wife of Rev Ralph Byars, Pastor of Tabernacle FWB Church, Coward, SC.) My story is about a man who was 64 years old, lost, diabetic, and had problems wi his left foot. Last year (June 3, 1998) he had his big toe removed. This year he found he needed more surgery and it was set for June 1, This time e Doctor decided he needed to remove all e remaining toes on his left foot. This man s surgery, and his story, are important to me; you see, is man is my dad. For over 20 years we witnessed to him and prayed for God to save him. Now his deteriorating heal was of grave concern to us bo physically and spiritually. st On May 31, I went to my home town in Chester, SC to be wi my dad. I tried to talk to him about his relationship wi e Lord but I couldn t seem to get him to make a decision. My heart was really troubled so about 10:30 at Monday night I called a local pastor, Rev Jimmy Sanders, and asked him to visit my dad e next morning before he went to surgery. The next morning my dad and I were talking about a lot of different ings, but I always tried to bring e conversation back to e ministry Ralph and I had in Coward and how e Lord had blessed us since we became Christians. About at time e nurse came in and told us ey might take Dad to surgery early. As soon as she left I looked over at dad and told him, Dad, you know it is better to enter into Heaven lame an to go to e bad place wi bo feet. Is ere anying you want to do or say right now? My dad just said for me to pray and so I had a time or prayer wi him. I knew he was so close to being saved but he would not take at final step. About at time my mom and a couple of friends came in to see dad. Shortly after ey arrived Rev Jimmy Sanders came in. We all talked for a few minutes and en Preacher Jimmy asked us all to leave for a few minutes so he could talk wi dad alone. Some of e family went to e Lobby but I stood right outside e door and prayed for Dad to get saved. In just a few minutes a nurse came by to take Dad s blood for his sugar test. I told her at e preacher was talking wi my dad about his salvation and asked her to come back in a few minutes. Suddenly e door opened and Preacher Jimmy said at my dad wanted me. I said to myself at dad had said no but when I got to e bed dad took my hand and said he wanted me ere when Preacher Jimmy led him ru e sinner s prayer. What a great joy to hear your loved one pray for e first time. Thank God, my dad is a Christian today. He told everyone who came to his room; family, nurses, friends, I got saved today. And he has continued to tell people at ever since at day. I couldn t wait to see my husband, Ralph, at day. He arrived, along wi my daughter and several people from our church, about a half hour after my dad got saved. When ey heard e good news we had revival in at hospital room. When dad went to surgery at day, he said he was so glad at now e Lord was going wi him. He still has some physical problems but now he tells everyone at one day he will have a new glorious body in Heaven wi e Lord. I ank e Lord for all e Christians who have prayed wi me about my dad and my family. To each of you who have lost loved ones let me encourage you to keep working and praying. Don t ever give up. It may take a long time and some difficult circumstances but God wants to save your lost loved one even more an you want em saved. Keep working, and keep praying, and one day you may be able to rejoice in e salvation of your loved one just like I do.

DEACON ORDINATION SERVICE for TOMMY SULLIVAN and JOEL JONES Sunday, August 1, 1999 [Following e Message e present Deacon Board, e Assistant Pastor, e Candidates and eir wives, and e Pastor will stand before e altar at e front of e Church.] OPENING PRAYER- Deacon Marion Coker CHARGE to e new Deacons: Forasmuch as you have been elected to e office of Deacon in Grace FWB Church, and have declared your willingness to serve, I now ask at you assent to e following questions. Do you re-affirm you allegiance to Jesus Christ as your Savior and to your obligation to work to build His Church? Have your LOST YOUR JOY in your service for e Lord? Maybe it is because you have stopped investing anying in e Lord s work. Let me tell you about e Golden Ball Theory. A Pastor spends all week working on his golden ball sermon. On Sunday morning he takes his shining ball and brings it out for e people to admire. But, instead of admiring e sermon ball, many of em just sit ere and look bored. These people have forgotten e basic premise of e Golden Ball Theory - only ose who help shine e Golden Ball gain great satisfaction from its glow. If people don t have a part in polishing e ball en ey will simply observe it or ignore it, instead of JOYING in how e ball shines. This leads to e following principle- If you do not invest much in a project en your commitment will be lukewarm and your emotional enjoyment about e success of e project will be minimal; defeats will not be devastating and victories will not be invigorating. Good news or bad news will all be boring to you. You can come each Sunday to simply see e ball at is presented; or you can become part of e shining crew. 45 PREACHER CARROLL S COLUMN Take Action by Rev Carroll Bazen James 1:22 But be ye doers of e word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. The Bible says at we are not just to be Hearers of e Word but Doers of e Word as well. This is someing at e Lord has really been teaching me lately, and in fact I gave a devotion on e subject just is week. Nevereless it is someing at I want you to ink about in your own mind today. We are very good at hearing people talk about God and what you should do wi your life etc. and maybe you are one who amens everying e preacher says every Sunday and ere is noing wrong wi ese ings. Every Sunday many ousands of people sit in a church service and listen to e Word of God being proclaimed, in many cases God deals wi hearts, people make commitments, shed tears, etc. My ought is is, How many of us when God teaches us a tru or stirs our heart wi a message will actually put ese ings into action. Whatever happened to putting our fai to work? We have got to come to grips wi e fact at God loves us and when He deals wi our hearts about someing en ere is someing at He wants us to do about it. For us to be able to accomplish is we must make sure we have surrendered ourselves to God. Someone who has completely surrendered eir heart to God should have no problem wi putting eir beliefs into action. I believe A SURRENDERED HEART will lead to a SUBMITTED LIFE at will lead to EFFECTIVE CHRISTIANITY. Make sure at your heart is completely surrendered to God. Ask God to help you each day to yield a little more of your life to him. Please don t settle for anying less an COMPLETE SURRENDER. My challenge and my prayer are at you will take to heart Gods message and at e ings at are on your heart today you will be accomplishing tomorrow. May God bless you during e upcoming mon as you strive for His will in YOUR life... John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, at ye should go and bring for fruit, and at your fruit should remain: at whatsoever ye shall ask of e Faer in my name, he may give it you. God has been very good to us in our Outreach Ministry. We just is week helped send Bibles to China, mailed books and tapes to encourage and edify people, updated much material on our web site (including adding is newsletter- People on e Web normally can read our newsletter e day it is published instead of having to wait for it to arrive via mail), put togeer and distributed a large volume of material for local ministers to help battle video gambling in e up coming referendum, and helped several people in need. We exist to serve so it is great when we see God give us opportunities to make a difference in e lives of people by sharing all e materials He has given us. We also had a Media Commission tele-conference is week (over an hour and a half on e phone) and I am very excited to see what God is doing rough is ministry. We plan to more an triple our budget is year, branch into numerous oer means of promoting Christ and helping Churches, and offer Pastors opportunities at we believe will make a difference for Christ. I will get much more details to you in e near future. We also did a lot of work on e Children s home web site ( so you can now see each child, find eir birday, and get eir preferences in many areas. Hope it will help e home as ey minister to ese children. God has so much work at needs to be done. Hope you will find someing to do for Him is week. Please Pray for God to guide in all we do Preacher Mike Ps 16:11

GAMBLING JIM Rev Mike Jones Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry P O Box 1003 Lake City, SC Why are Christians so troubled about Video Gambling? After all, isn t it just a harmless entertainment at some people enjoy wiout harming anyone else? And look at all e good it does as it provides employment for many people roughout e State. Why doesn t e church become concerned about e major problems at plague our state instead of spending time and energy fighting is gnat of a problem? After extensive research on Video Gambling in Sou Carolina, Drs William Thompson and Frank Quinn concluded at e people of Sou Carolina lose over $424 million Dollars each year because of e collective social and economic cost of video poker machines. That is an astonishing figure, and one at is so big until it can t be easily comprehended. Let me make it more understandable. He was a good man, and a good faer (The story is true. In order to protect e family from furer hurt we will just call is man Jim after our governor who received so much help in his election from e gambling industry). Jim never drank, took drugs, or played around. The only fault Jim developed was at he began stopping by e local convenience store on his way home from work to play a little video poker to relax. Things were looking very good for Jim and his family. They were finally able to sell eir old home and buy a new one. On e Friday at ey closed e sale of eir old home e realtor gave em a check for $35,000 dollars. Jim s wife had taken time off from work in order to sign e papers so she told Jim to deposit e money in e bank while she went back to work. On e way to e bank, Jim decided to stop and play a few games of Video poker. Jim had always been a good man and e family was frantic wi anguish as Friday slipped into Saturday, which slipped into Sunday; and still no sign of Jim. Horrible oughts of accidents and injury broke e hearts of e family. Finally, ey heard from Jim on Monday morning. During e little relaxing game of video poker Jim had lost e entire $35,000! And later it came out at he became so frantic over his loss until he sold his new boat and gambled it away trying to get e money back. Then, good, honest, hard working, Jim went to his broer in law s home where he stole his boat, sold it, and gambled e money away. And, by e time ey found him on Monday morning, Jim had run up additional debts of $20,000 on a mortgage on his new home. Jim came very close to committing suicide. His daughter came very close to committing suicide. Jim lost his job; and came very, very close to losing his marriage. Why don t we ask Jim about e cost of a harmless little game of video poker. Martin Luer King said, The church must be reminded at it is neier e master of e state, nor e servant of e state, but e conscience of e state. If e conscience cannot speak clearly and compassionately on e issues e state faces, ere is very little hope for e state. May God give e Church clarity of vision and loudness of voice as it reminds e conscience of e people of Sou Carolina at e money at is fed into video poker machines in order to make e gambling industry ever more richer is money at is needed in homes to buy food, pay for school cloes, and give families hope for a better life. nd On November 2 say NO to Video Gambling by voting NO on e Video Game Referendum. Jim, and many oers just like him, will be forever grateful at you did e right ing.

METHODOLOGY VS PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY Rev Mike Jones, Grace FWB Church METHODOLOGY: 1. A body of practices, procedures, and rules used by ose who work in a discipline or engage in an inquiry; a set of working meods: e meodology of genetic studies; an opinion poll marred by faulty meodology. b. The study or eoretical analysis of such working meods. PHILOSOPHY: 1. A system of motivating concepts or principles: e philosophy of a culture. 2. A basic eory; a viewpoint: an original philosophy of advertising. 3. The system of values by which one lives: has an unusual philosophy of life Someone recently asked me what e difference was between Meodology of Ministry as compared to Philosophy of Ministry. As you can see from Webster s definitions of Meodology and Philosophy, Meodology is HOW you do someing while Philosophy is WHY you do someing. One of e most basic Bible principles is at Your belief determines your behavior. That is how God uses e foolishness of Preaching (I Cor 1:21) to convert men. Preaching is e expressing of ideas, illustrations, and conceptions at (wi e help of e Holy Spirit) cause people to look at eir sinful state or eir sorry living in a different light. Conversion or commitment takes place when is preaching produced belief leads to action. This concept is also seen in e format of e Bible. Paul always wrote his letters using e formula of Doctrine in e first part and Duty in e last part. Paul knew it was worless to tell someone WHAT to do unless he could first tell em WHY ey needed to do e task and HOW ey were equipped to do what was required of em. Paul knew at your meods of work would depend on your motivation of heart. This principle also determines what kind of ministry a person has and how effective at ministry is over e long haul. If a minister believes at he is just to evangelize wiout spending time in edification en he will have great initial success but little long term fruit. Conversely, if a minister spends all his time studying e word but never spends time putting into practice what he has learned en his beliefs will take on a dream world state at leaves him (and his congregation) frustrated as his dreams comes up against e reality of a sin cursed world. Anoer example would be my own Philosophy of ministry- The greatest of all shall be servant of all (Mark 10:43-44). What I believe (My Philosophy at being number one means serving as many people as possible) determines what I do in ministry. I look for ways to help oers eier come to Know Jesus Christ as eir personal Savior (e greatest service anyone can render anoer) or for ways to help a saved person Show Christ in eir changed life (Through education, edification, encouragement,...). This belief at service for Christ is manifested in helping oers causes me to use every meod available to reach every person possible wi e gospel of Christ. When I lift up my eyes and look on a congregation I can t be satisfied to simple serve at group wi my sermon. My Philosophy causes me to ink about using radio to reach oers who are shut-in, have to work, or are traveling. When I teach a Bible course in church and witness in homes e next week to people who desperately need e material I just taught I know I have to put it in a book or newsletter so it can be distributed to ose who can t (or won t) attend our services. When people in our church talk about how greatly distant relatives need e help and encouragement of our Church en I know we must serve em by freely distributing audio or video tapes of our services or by putting our services on e Internet. A ministry at believes at serving oers is vital will look for practical ways to make service available.

The Apostle Paul knew is same heart beat- For ough I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, at I might gain e more. {20} And unto e Jews I became as a Jew, at I might gain e Jews; to em at are under e law, as under e law, at I might gain em at are under e law; {21} To em at are wiout law, as wiout law, (being not wiout law to God, but under e law to Christ,) at I might gain em at are wiout law. {22} To e weak became I as weak, at I might gain e weak: I am made all ings to all men, at I might by all means save some. (1 Cor 9:19-22). Paul could have taken it easy and rested on his popularity and position. But his belief at e Gospel of Christ was e most important proclamation in e world caused him to sacrifice his own wants and desires in order to reach as many people as possible. Note at Paul s belief in service was much more an just lip service; it involved sacrificial changes in his life. A servant may not like e way a master does ings but he is obligated to, as much as possible, follow e desires of e master. Paul did not violate his principles or testimony but he did serve in ways at were not necessarily natural to him. ( Warren Wiersbe puts it like is- Paul was not a chameleon who changed his message and meods wi each new situation. Nor was Paul a compromiser who adjusted his message to please his audience. He was an ambassador, not a politician!...paul so lived at he did not offend eier e Jews or e Gentiles. He did not parade his liberty before e Jews, nor did he impose e Law on e Gentiles. ). So, wheer you realize it or not, your Philosophy of Ministry effects your Meodology of Ministry. Your core beliefs about Fai, Duty, e Power of God to convict and change a person, etc. all combine togeer to determine e meod, and e effectiveness, of your ministry. Therefore, if your ministry- preaching, teaching, Christian living - is not what it should be en you need to look at your Philosophy and see what needs to be added, subtracted, or corrected. This means you must look very closely as WHAT you are attempting to accomplish so you will know HOW you want to go about getting e job done. - - If a Teacher claims at eir goal in teaching a Sunday School class is to attempt to win eir students to a saving fai in Jesus Christ but ey never go over e plan way of Salvation, never pray wi e students to be saved, and never have a class devoted to learning how to be saved en at teacher needs to examine eir Philosophy or eir Meod of applying at Philosophy. - - If a Preacher says his desire is to have a growing fruitful church but his meods of ministry are to simply maintain e status quo en eier his Philosophy or his practices are in need of an over haul- Growing Churches don t come by hoping e attendance will be better e next week. Souls are not won by wishing people would change, e gospel must be presented (Rom 10:14). Try is- In one or two sentences write out your life motivating philosophy. Be Honest! Don t write what you SHOULD write; write what really motivates you. Now examine at philosophy in e light of God s will for your life. Then ask yourself ese questions. Is is e philosophy at God wants me to live wi (and die wi)? How does what I do in my life enhance (or distract from) e accomplishment of is philosophy? What you believe determines what you do. So be careful at you don t let your beliefs be warped by e world s propaganda and philosophy. Stand fast in your fai in God and in e saving work of Christ- at is e philosophy at will make your works pleasing to God; for now and for eternity- (John 6:29) Jesus answered and said unto em, This is e work of God, at ye believe on him whom he ha sent.

What a tremendous joy to see so many of our past members and friends in e congregation; as well as family members of ose who regularly attend. And what a wonderful Spirit was evident all day- is must be just a glimpse of what Heaven will be like! RECORD AVERAGE ATTENDANCE Sunday s great turnout was part of a wonderful trend. So far our average attendance for e year is better an it has ever been in e history of e Church. Almost every week we look out in e congregation and see at least one new face; and many of em come back Sunday after Sunday! Also, is is what I really like, ey span every age group- Seniors, teens, young married, and even new babies. God is doing a work and I just stand in awe and enjoy His blessings. 50 MINISTRY Each week I our weekly newspaper devotional articles to over 100 people. Many of ese, in turn, em to many oers. If you would like to be on our mailing list simply send your address to Mjones@graceandglory.com and we will be happy to include you. TRIPLE ACTION: Let me show you how e Lord blesses. Our newspaper devotional articles are first published in numerous local newspapers. Then ey are ed to an ever growing circle of people. Finally, many of em end up on e back of bulletins nationwide ru our FWB bulletin service. And, surprisingly, I get an increasing number of calls from people who have scrapbooks or file drawers full of articles ey have cut from e paper. When God works, it is amazing! BIBLE - BOOK BLESSING Several years ago, a man from India came by our office and requested some material; which we gladly gave him. He also requested at we send some Bible for e work in India so I bundled up a big box full of Bibles and books and sent em to him. Recently, I received a very nice letter from him telling how e books and Bibles had greatly helped in eir work. He wanted more Bibles (which we are making arrangements to send) and he even invited me to come to India and speak to e young preachers at eir conference (which we are praying about because of e great expense). This means at Bibles and Books from is ministry are now ministering in Russia, China, and India; as well as all over e United States. Isn t it amazing what God is doing! Let me add anoer note to is. Due to a variety of circumstances we had not been able to send any material to our Jail ministry in several mons but God graciously provided a way and is week we were able to send a huge box of books and tapes to is needful ministry. We have also been able to provide material for several colleges recently. Isn t it amazing what God is doing! FRIENDS It is such a blessing to be part of e family of God. Recently, some of our former members from Mississippi had to be in e area and ey made arrangement to attend our services and spend some time in fellowship. Toby, Christine, and Jimmy King were our neighbors during our pastorate at Beech Springs FWB Church over 20 years ago but we have never forgot eir love and kindness during our ministry ere. We also received several calls recently from former members in Florida concerned about our safety during Hurricane Floyd. Thankfully, oer an a few trees blown down, lots of rain, and being wiout power for a night it did us no great harm- To God be e glory. (Won t Heaven be wonderful as we worship God togeer and spend all e time we want just being togeer). MINISTRY PARTNERS As most of you know, is is a Fai Ministry. Our only support comes from people who feel led of God to give to is work. We don t sell or solicit; we just trust God. The ministry has grown so much until we now buy audio and video tapes by e hundreds. We buy cases of paper at e time. We catch labels or equipment on sale and try to buy all we can afford. If fact, it now takes me at least a half day each week to order supplies and pay bills. Now to e good part, every time I sit down to pay our bills and plan our next purchases, God has provided enough to do what we need to do! THANK YOU for listening to God and helping us reach ousands of people each week wi e Gospel of Christ. May God richly bless you for your help. God is doing Great ings at Grace. We would love to have you present in our Services to share in e blessings and we really value your prayers at God would direct in all we do. May God Bless you wi a Wonderful Week.... After a tremendous time of prayer and heart searching, I felt e direct leadership of God to assume a new position in my life. I was very happy as Pastor of e best Church in Sou Carolina (whoops, guess I will have to stop saying at now since I will be dealing wi all e churches in our state) and wanted to let is be e place at Paula and I finished our ministry obligations to e Lord. But e Lord had oer plans, and He is e boss. The Sou Carolina Executive Committee asked me NEWS FLASH on Thursday, Oct 14 to be e new State Promotional For e first time in many years Director and I accepted on Friday. Then Sunday morning I Missionary Carlisle Hanna returns met wi e deacons before church (after being up all night to India wiout e money needed in e hospital wi a critically ill person) and submitted my to build a new church. He leaves st resignation to em. They graciously accepted and November 1. Has God spoken to promised eir full cooperation and support during is you about is?? transition time. Finally, I announced my decision to e Church during e 11am service and was tremendously encouraged by e wonderful support of e great people of Grace Church. That is e big picture. Now let me fill in some details and answer some questions. First, When will I leave Grace FWB Church? I gave e Church a 60 day notice. That means my time as pastor here will end December 19. The position of Promotional Director st does not come open, however, until January 1, When e Deacons found is out ey st graciously offered to continue my pay until January 1 and I am extremely grateful for eir kindness. The second question most people ask is What will happen to e Outreach Ministry? Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry will cease to operate under my leadership. Instead, I have begun a new ministry called Miracle Ministry (because of e way my name is spelled many people call me Miracle Jones. It will also take miracles to finance and function is ministry but God has done it for years and I know He will continue to work).

Grace and Glory s name and much of its equipment will remain at Grace FWB Church- Cameras, video and audio taping equipment, many of e computers, our newsletter copier, etc. all will remain at e use of e Church since ey are tied in so directly to e Church ministry. (Just a note. During e past 15 years at Grace and Glory Outreach Ministry has functioned it has brought in over a quarter of a million dollars! (Glory!) All of e newsletter printing and postage cost, all of e paper used in e church for any reason, all of e bibles and books distributed to e members as well as to oers; all came ru Outreach Money. All of e phone cost for Internet, all of e cost of renting and maintaining Grace and Glory web site, all of e equipment to enable e web site to work and be upgraded; all came from Outreach Ministry money. Most of e equipment to record audio and video (recently inventoried in excess of $60,000), all of e ousands of audio and video tapes, e labels for e tapes, and e postage to mail em all have come from Outreach funds. The ousands of dollars given to help people in trouble and need, e equipment to process all is activity, and e ability to support Jail ministries all have come from Outreach funds. (Remember, Outreach Funds were fai money raised by volunteer contributions from people in and out of e Church. The Church never directly supported is ministry)). MIRACLE MINISTRY: Our new Miracle Ministry will be dedicated to doing ose ings at have produced e most fruit and e most results from e old Grace and Glory Ministry. Books and Bible will still be distributed- Can you imagine a greater joy at we will now have when we visit a struggling pastor and are able to give him a book at may transform his ministry and lead many souls to Christ? Devotional Articles will still be written (If we continue to receive cooperation from e newspapers at publish em) and ed all over e world. And we will put all our present books, plus e news ones we plan to write, on our web site to assist people all over e world learn about coming to KNOW Christ as Savior and en how to SHOW Him in eir changed life. SUPPORT: I will be very busy as Promotional Director raising money for e Promotional Office (I only get paid as money comes in!), for State projects, and for Missions. That means e money to support is ministry will have to come from hearts touched by God. There will be no solicatation or fund raisers. Like before, is will be a simple Fai ministry. To ose of you at have supported our Outreach Ministry for years I ask at you pray about continuing. If you have not been a part of helping us reach people for Christ, and would like to be en I ask you to follow God s prompting in your life. Funds can be mailed to- Miracle Ministry P O Box Florence, SC (Once we get a home address in Florence we will contact you wi our new address). Just Received a request from Thailand for Bibles and Books after viewing our web site. Hope to mail em today. Only 1% of Thailand is Christian. I Pray is is an open door to minister in is country. The ird question people ask is Where will Paula and I live? Boy, don t we wish we had e answer to at one!! We need to live in e Florence area since e promotional office and book store are in Florence. We are praying about where God would have us live and how He will provide it wi our extremely limited resources. (If you know someone in e Florence area at would like to donate a tract of land to e Promotional Office so Paula and I could put a trailer on it en let us know. We would really appreciate it. We are also looking at houses to purchase but, so far, everying is out of our range of options.) We are confident, however, at God has just e right place for us and we are excited about finally finding it.

The Final question people ask most often is What exactly is a Promotional Director and what will you be doing? Let me quote some from our Constitution: Hiring- The Executive Committee is responsible to employ, oversee, and/or terminate e Promotional Director s service. The Promotional Director serves under e auspices of e Executive Committee for an undetermined period of time. It must be understood by all at e Promotional Director s position is a Fai ministry. The promotional office support and e Promotional Director s salary is provided rough e faifulness of God s people. Duties- It shall be e responsibility of is Director to promote and raise financial support for e promotional office and its expense; edit and publish e state paper, The Informer, and mail em to our churches for distribution; report news of S C Free Will Baptist to Contact for printing; promote e annual State Association Convention by every possible news media and mail-out; promote participation in financial giving to all state ministries; direct e promotion of Foreign Missions in Sou Carolina; offer service to churches in securing a pastor and service to pastors in securing a church; promote attendance of S C Free Will Baptist to e National Association Convention; offer service to preachers to supply pastor; render any appropriate promotional service for a local church, conference, or association; serve on e program committee; meet wi e Executive Committee when requested; serve as Treasurer of e promotional office; and present a written financial and activities report to e State Association s annual convention. Oer duties include- Responsibility for oversight of e bookstore ministry- its budget, its personal, etc; Serve as treasurer for e State Home Mission Board; Assist e Executive Committee in mailings and oer activities as requested; Receipt and distribute funds received rough e SC Plan of Support (Over $750,000 in 1999); be a pastor to pastors by rendering encouragement, counsel, and help as needed; inform pastors via phone tree of deas and oer important information; and normal office duties (Filing, balancing books, assisting pastors wi posters, revival material, etc.). It will involve a tremendous amount of traveling. I plan to attempt to attend every FWB st church in our state before January 1 of I want to attend as many conference meetings as possible (7 conferences times 4 meetings per year equals 28 Saturdays a year already spoken for). Then ere will be Ladies Auxiliary meetings, National Association Convention, Leadership Conference, speaking engagements, State Meetings, etc. (I might need to start praying now for anoer car!). I am attending as many Revivals as possible. Our Church schedule allows me e freedom to speak at or attend oer churches on Sunday Night (Contact me if you would like for me to come) Already scheduled: Saturday, Oct 21- New Town Master s Men Saturday, Oct 30- Beaver Creek Qt Meeting Sunday, Nov 21- Dedication of new Fellowship Building, Lebanon Mon-Tues, Dec 6-7 Leadership Conference Nashville. God s direction was so evident, and His leadership so strong, until I am completely confident at He will give me e streng and wisdom I need in order to do is important job. I certainly don t feel wory of e honor of serving our state in is important position; and sometimes I feel so inadequate for e challenges I face in making is transition but I know God will not put me somewhere and en leave me so I rest in His streng and care. Please Pray for Paula and I at we will be e vessels God can use to help many people come to Know Christ as Savior and Show Christ in eir changed life. FINAL THOUGHTS- It is tough to say good-bye. This will be our last newsletter and I will miss telling you about how God is blessing and providing for me. How about we meet in Heaven and rejoice for a ousand years togeer! I ll be ere, and I will look for you. May God richly bless and keep you. Thank you for allowing me to share God s blessings wi you over e years. Rev Mike Jones, State Promotional Office, P O Box 13266, Florence, SC

Don t forget e TIME CHANGE Un-Ending, Un-Deserving (LOVE) by Carroll Bazen Sometimes I like to reflect on what love really is. Before I do at I would like to reflect on what it is not. It is not conditional, or built only on physical relationships, it is not earned in any way. It is not what is shown on TV (Praise e Lord). No, love is given to us by God. It is God at first showed His love for us. God is love and love is expressed to everyone. God always loved you and he always will love you. Note - Gods love does not allow him to overlook sin. God hates sin just as much, but He loves e sinner. The people at reject God and send emselves to Hell, God still loves em just as He does you. The love God has shown man is not based on circumstances, class or race, just as you never did anying to earn Gods love you cannot do anying to lose Gods love. I did not say at you cannot lose e blessings of God, nor did I say at you cannot lose your relationship to God, but I did say at you cannot go beyond e reaches of God s love. It amazes me how e God at we serve can be all at He is and yet love us so much. I pray today at you will find rest in e arms of God s love no matter where you are or what your circumstance. For God so loved e world, at he gave his only begotten Son, at whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3: st Sunday October 31, 1999 You Day, Family Fall Harvest You Sunday Service st Beginning at 9am on e 31 we will be having our Quarterly You Sunday Services. We are so looking forward to many ings happening wi our young people during e services. We are looking forward to having special singing so plan on being here. We will also be receiving an offering at will go toward our you fund. This will be e last offering for e 1999 year so we ask at you give as e Lord allows. We are asking at everyone to plan on coming to is special service and be looking for God to speak to your heart. Family Fall Festival Then at 6:00pm at evening we will be having our Family Fall Festival in e Fellowship Building of e Church. This is a special time at we look forward to every year. This years food will be none oer an HOTDOGS (provided by Kay Lewis) and Super Stephanie Chili (Provided by Stephanie Purvis). We will hear from God s Word and en we plan on having games such as Guess e Jelly, Bubble Gum Wrap, Golf Putt, Apple Bob, Ring Toss, Basketball Toss, and a very special Prize Boo. All kids and adults feel free to dress up. We just ask at e costumes shy away from e Wicked side of is occasion. I hope you are looking forward to is wonderful night of fellowship and will join us for is special time.

Oer Items of Interest: HELPING HAND FUND: Our helping hand fund has been an invaluable asset to e Church and e community. It has operated on extremely limited funds but it has been a great help to ose in need. Right now e present balance is around $100 (after paying all obligations) and at will be turned over to e new pastor to use as he and e church see fit. If you desire to continue to give to is very worwhile cause en contact e Church for more info- (843) OUTREACH MINISTRY FUNDS: After all bills are paid, e remaining money (it appears to be around $1000, maybe less if I am not counting all outstanding bills) in e Outreach Ministry will be transferred to e new Miracle Ministry Fund in order to get it started. Once at money is exhausted, if no more comes in, en everying will shut down. But I believe at if God sees a need en we will be supplied e necessary funds. Tax receipts and a financial statement will be mailed to all who contributed during 1999 on e web. BOOKS AND TAPES: We still have a fair number of books, bibles, and tapes at we can give away. If you want a set of books or some of our tapes contact us as soon as possible (Grace Church, P O Box 1003, Lake City, S C 29560) wi your name, address, and e items desired. We will take any remaining books and tapes wi us to distribute as we travel. Future printings of books will depend on demand and funds. All of our books will very soon be available * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * MEMORIALS: - - -We greatly appreciate recent memorial gifts to e Outreach Ministry from Don and Kay Lewis in memory of Calvin Spring s Broer and Lottie Hanna s Moer; and from Jackie and Arnold Lowder in memory of Calvin Spring s Broer - - -We also are glad to acknowledge memorial gifts to e Helping Hand fund from Marion and Alea Coker in memory of Calvin Spring s Broer and Mr John Lee. This will help some very real needs right now. PRAISE ITEM: What a tremendous blessing e Church received last week when Mrs Bonnie Jones and Broer Joel Jones contributed 4 new chairs (We are talking super nice) to e Audio-Video Room to keep our technicians in comfort. They also gave a new 20 channel mixer amplifier at is a great asset to e sound quality of our tapes and to live performances. And en, on top of all at, ey contributed 2 extremely nice lapel mikes to e Church so e preaching would sound good if e preacher would just preach good!! One final sentiment about e people of Grace and my feelings toward em- (Phil 1:3-7) I ank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request wi joy, For your fellowship in e gospel from e first day until now; Being confident of is very ing, at he which ha begun a good work in you will perform it until e day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to ink is of you all, because I have you in my heart; I can hardly wait to see what God will do here at Grace! I pray eir ministry will start a revival at sweeps our state and brings many souls to Christ. Remember us in your prayers Preacher Mike and Princess Paula

CLOSED DOORS Rev 3:8 I know y works: behold, I have set before ee an open door, and no man can shut it: Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at e door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open e door, I will come in to him, and will sup wi him, and he wi me. One of e ings I have had to get used to in recent years is locked doors!! For years and years I unlocked e door to e parsonage when I went to e Church first ing in e morning and en locked it again as we went to bed at night. Now it must remain locked most of e time and it's difficult for me to get used to it (I still bang into it regularly!). That same type situation exist in our Christian lives. God has doors at are opened for us and we can freely go and come; and en for some reason e door must be closed. I want us to look at some of e open doors God has and WALK THRU THEM, and en see some of e doors God has closed and LEARN FROM THEM. I> THE DOORS GOD OPENED A) The Door of Access to God- The Door to e Holy of Holies (Where e Glory of God dwelt) was closed until Christ died on e Cross. Then God tore it in two; from top to bottom, to show us at God will make a way for man to fellowship wi Him. B) The Door of Resurrection- Matt 28:2 And, behold, ere was a great earquake: for e angel of e Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back e stone from e door, and sat upon it. The door to e Tomb was closed and sealed and, yet, God brought Jesus for. The door was not opened to let Jesus out but to allow men to see at he had conquered dea. Dea is our greatest enemy; if Christ can conquer at ere is no problem He can't conquer. C) The Door of Service- I Cor 16:9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and ere are many adversaries. 1. Satisfying Service- Ps 84:10 For a day in y courts is better an a ousand. I had raer be a doorkeeper in e house of my God, an to dwell in e tents of wickedness. 2. God has e ability to open doors at you ought were impossible to open (But you must use be willing to walk ru when God opens e door). I have seen God open Doors to free Radio time, Free Newspaper time, and a multitude of ministries. "Doors" are not a problem for a Doer! God has opened e Door to His Presence, shown his Power to overcome any of our Problems, and lets us know at He can open any door to help us be Productive. The Doors are Open; but ey do no good unless you're willing to go ru em. II. THE DOORS GOD SHUT A) The Door of Service- Doors of opportunity can change to "trap doors" when misused. How many Christians have opportunities to do someing great for God and allow e door to close; never to reopen! B) The Door of Speaking- Ps 141:3 Door of lips- Set a watch, O Lord, before my mou; keep e door of my lips. May we allow God to Shut e door of our lips when Gossip would come out and open em wide when e Gospel would come for. C) The Door of Supplication- Matt 6:6 The Door to your Prayer Closet is supposed to be shut. When you start praying to impress men en God begins to tune you out (But, Remember, God is willing to open is door to someone who will consistently knock on it- Matt 7:7). D) The Door of Salvation- The door to e ark shows us at God's Patience will finally come to an end when we ignore His warnings. When Noah, his family, and e animals finally were aboard e ark e LORD shut e door and no one could open it. No man can come to e Faer unless e Spirit draw him. What an awful ing it would be to have God close at door and send em strong delusion, at ey should believe a lie; at ey all might be damned who believed not e tru; but had pleasure in unrighteousness (II Thess 2:11-12). E) The door of Spiritlessness- The door was closed to e virgins wiout oil (Matt 25). This shows us God won't let us in even if we look good but aren't born again. It's not our outward look but our inward heart at produces e light for God to see. John 10:9 I am e door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. Jesus Stands at e closed door of your heart and asks to come in. Will you open to Him today??
