3 A Message from the President Dear Friends, What does love look like in practice? Simple: it looks like a pitcher overflowing pouring out good things on our neighbors in a host of lifechanging efforts. In the past year Christian Service Charities played a vital part in the overflow of practical love. CSC charities reached millions of federal, postal, and military personnel, and these donors poured out donations generously from their earnings, enabling our member charities to extend abundant blessings to neighbors far and near. That abundance takes many forms; CSC s 100 member charities provide services ranging from advocacy to feeding programs to church planting to healthcare. Throughout each program and outreach runs the same thread the overflowing of good things. After twenty years of faithfulness we remain committed to supporting that process. In 2014 the Christian Service Charities Board of Directors and staff maintained their focus on increasing pledges and exposure for our charities, managing the federation s budget responsibly, and processing pledges efficiently and transparently so that member charities can fulfill their own callings to care for their neighbors in many places and many ways. This report documents their efforts and accomplishments. We remain committed to the pursuit of excellence, efficiency, and transparency in our calling as a federation. These qualities have made us a leader in workplace giving and the largest Christian federation in the 2013 CFC, but we realize that we are one part of a much larger process, and we thank you for the role that you play in making it possible. Sincerely, Ida Tyree Hychee President of the Board of Directors Our Mission To glorify God by facilitating the inclusion of Christian charities you know and trust in charitable giving opportunities and providing services for the success of other charitable federations. Our Vision Staying a step ahead in a changing charitable giving environment, while becoming the most cost effective and respected organization at connecting CSC members and other charities with donors across America. Our Ends Goal Greater giving (in both number of donors and total donations) for a greater number of Christian charities that we know and trust Board of Directors Ida Tyree Hyche, Esq., President Retired Federal Employee and Army Reserve Officer Royce Bervig, Vice President Focus on the Family USA Jen Porter, Secretary World Vision Donna Bancroft Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn. 4 A Message from the CEO Dear Friends, Changing Times, Changing Faces was our theme for 2014 and it could hardly have been more accurate! This year Christian Service Charities has seen changes and growth in the Combined Federal Campaign, in our member charities, and in how we tirelessly pursue the best ways to serve our members and donors. There have been plenty of changing faces in our membership. In 2014 CSC added ten new members to the federation. Currently CSC serves 100 member charities charities that change lives throughout the world through feeding programs, advocacy, Bible distribution, church planting, disaster relief, resources for the disabled, microloans, nutritional training, and a multitude of other outreaches Staff Thomas Youngblood Chief Executive Officer Amanda Brock Administrative Associate Matambira Makanda Treasurer, CFO, HR Director Cryshana Harbison Sr. Accounting Associate, HR Manager Cecilia Nolasco Finance Associate Shelley Hayes Marketing & Member Services Director, Head of Technology Matthew Maule Marketing & Member Services Associate Katie Roberts Marketing & Member Services Associate Times were definitely changing in the CFC and Christian Service Charities has been a vital part of that process, contributing to dialogues with the government alongside other industry leaders. As the impact of these changes unfolds in the coming years, CSC is poised to serve its members more effectively than ever. This year, Christian Service Charities celebrates its 20th anniversary. For the past twenty years we have been connecting charities you know and trust with donors throughout changing times in our organization, in the CFC, and in the world of workplace giving. The infographic on page 2 showcases some of the changes we ve experienced and the impact we ve had over our first two decades. As the times change, Christian Service Charities effectively adapted and grew, taking initiative and boldly seeking new ways to serve its members. For instance, when Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall on November 7th, 2013, our new Disaster Relief page highlighting member charities went live within twenty-four hours. The face of our application system changed, too Christian Service Charities invested in major technological improvements to our application system, providing members with a smoother experience and saving them valuable time. The more things change, however, the more they stay the same and this is true of Christian Service Charities in the areas where consistency is critical. We remain committed to excellent service, efficient stewardship of funds, and transparency at every level. We remain a leader in workplace giving. We remain proud to support our members in carrying out their missions of charity and evangelism. Above all, we remain grateful to you for the part you play in a changing world. Sincerely, Tom Youngblood CEO Christian Service Charities 2014 Annual Report Page 4
