1 FELLOWSHIP MESSENGER Dave s Devotional I know that some of the recent decisions of Synod have troubled members of our congregation. At our recent Leadership Board meeting we discussed the impact of these decisions upon our local congregation. We also discussed how we could best present where we are as a Leadership Board in comparison to where members of our church may be. I would like to extend to each and every member an invitation to attend following worship on June 10 th our Youth Lunch. Following our Youth Lunch we will be presenting a Synod Report. I will be sharing a statement that I prepared for our Leadership Board that I have entitled, My Response to Resolution 14 and Becky Lanier, one of our Synod delegates, will share her experience as a delegate serving on the Community Committee (where the resolutions on homosexuality were debated and discussed prior to going to the floor of Synod) along with Ann Frye our other Synod delegate will share some of her reflections as well. Following these presentations, we will have an opportunity to answer questions to the best of our abilities and those who are present will be asked to anonymously answer a brief survey consisting of three questions that should help our Leadership Board in making future decisions. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend! With the joy of serving Christ together, The Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr. JOIN US! Youth Lunch Sunday, June 10 (after worship) in the Fellowship Building (Synod Report and discussion will follow after lunch) All items to be included in the newsletter must be submitted to the church office by the 20 th of the month.

4 Christ Moravian Church June 2018 MEMORIALS (April 21, 2018 May 20, 2018) CE Committee Report: The CE Committee did not meet in May. The next meeting will be Sunday, June 3, in the Sr. High Classroom following the service. We also plan to set up some mission opportunities later in the summer. Family Retreat: The 2018 Family Retreat was May at Agape Kure Beach Faith Center at Kure Beach. We had 29 people in attendance in ages from 8 weeks up. The weather was beautiful! It didn t start raining until Sunday night around 10 PM. We went to the Fort Fisher Civil War Museum, the NC Aquarium, church at Water of Life Lutheran/Covenant Moravian in Wilmington and had plenty of time to spend on the beach. Devotions were every morning and evening and the theme was David and we learned a new song to go with the theme. The kids and adults had a wonderful weekend of fellowship and fun in a beautiful setting that only God could create. As our new song goes, I ll sing (pray and dance) like David sang (prayed and danced) This was our view from the back porch.
