Christmas Toy Drive Gladiolus Learning and Development Center (formerly Brightest Horizons) is sponsoring a toy drive for the Center s Family Christmas Party. Toys are needed for boys and girls aged 0-12 years and should not be wrapped. All of the toys will go to children in the Harlem Heights neighborhood. Donations of toys may be placed in the bin in the church office by December 10. For more information you may contact Sharon Trantina at (239)
5 It s Time to Decorate Chapel for the Holidays Advent begins next Sunday, and we want YOU to join us for a Decorating Party at Chapel on this coming Saturday, November 29. There s lots to do (Sanctuary, Narthex, Silver Hall, and Outside), but it s a time for fun and fellowship, and many hands make light work. Be there by 9:00 a.m., and we ll try to finish by lunchtime. Questions? Contact Elaine Brinkman (239) or Landon Doggett (239) Toys for Immokalee Collection of toys and gifts for children in Immokalee, ages birth through high school, begins Sunday, November 23 through Sunday, December 14. The community is mostly migrant worker families. Please be considerate of this when selecting toys, or games (with batteries provided). Coloring books and crayons, paints, puzzles and culturally sensitive dolls and books are a few suggestions. There is a need for nicer gifts ($10-$20) and for older, children. Wrapping paper, tape and cash are appreciated. Gifts should be new, unwrapped and non-violent. Please leave gifts in Silver Hall in designated area. Donation Drive The Donation and Shred Drive last Tuesday generated 3,000 pounds of goods which translates into approximately $2, Solomon s Porch Cancelled for the next two weeks in light of our Pastor s absence due to family illness. Personnel Committee The Personnel and Policy Advisory Committee is looking to add a few new members. With our new responsibilities for creating and updating Church Policy, we could use a few more hands on deck. If you are a member of Chapel by the Sea and have had some experience in human resources, have previously served on a personnel committee, or have an interest in serving on such a committee, please call Ron Buss at (239) The Committee is looking to meet on the third Tuesday or Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. Building & Grounds Interior/Décor Sub-Committee of the Building & Grounds Committee needs members. Do you have a talent for interior decorating? Please sign up on the Communication Card. Contact Arlene Fisher at (513) Weight Watchers at Chapel Beginning, Monday, December 1 in Silver Hall. Weigh in at 9:00 a.m., meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Instructor: Wanda Anderson A BIG THANKYOU! A BIG Thank you to those who have given and plan to give above and beyond to Chapel. Your faithful and generous support has been a positive beginning toward getting us back on Financial Track. We still have a
6 way to go but with God s Blessing and our working together, we will be able to resolve this big problem. Thanks again. Chapel Habitat Builders The habitat builders volunteer every Thursday. On the job training will be provided. Both men and women are welcome. Sign up on the sign-up sheet on Silver Hall bulletin board. We leave the rear of Chapel parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and return by 3:30 p.m. Bring your own lunch, snack, and water and soft drinks. Questions, call Tom Kelly at (239) Operation Christmas Child Over 173 Shoebox gifts were delivered to a collection point in North Fort Myers this past Thursday. They were placed in large cartons and loaded on to trucks, where they will soon be on their way to Atlanta where the cartons will be processed. At that time, the final destination of the shoeboxes will be determined. If you tracked your box, you may be notified of its destination before it actually reaches its designated country. Distribution of gifts will begin in early December. Operation Christmas Child strives to reach children with the greatest need. Therefore, volunteers need to travel by truck, pack animals, four wheel drive vehicles, canoes, boats, or even walk up steep terrains to reach remote villages. Thank you again for your generosity and support of this project! Free Computer Security Seminar January 14, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
