1 Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost Reformation and Mission Sunday October 28, :00 A.M. Red Prelude Flute Tune and Aria of Dedication by Greg Sewell Peace Within My Soul by Lani Smith Ringing of the Bell Welcome and Informal Moments Introit *Call to Worship L: On this Reformation Sunday, we celebrate the ways in which God breathed life into the church that was, the church that is, and the church that is yet to come. P: Come, Holy Spirit, come. We seek your guidance as we live out the call to be Christ s Church in the world today. L: On this Mission Sunday, we gather with our neighbors as we partner in ministry and offer care and support to the wider community. P: Come, Holy Spirit, come. Help us to always share the love and grace of God with the world around us. L: So let us come together in celebration and with a spirit of openness, as we follow where Jesus continues to lead. P: Come, let us worship! *Opening Hymn A Mighty Fortress Is Our God No. 469 Unison Prayer of Confession and Lord s Prayer Holy God, we come to you with our hearts open, longing for your forgiveness, trusting in your grace, and seeking transformation through your love. Lord, continue to reform our lives to your will and your ways. May our shared life as your church and our life as your people forever seek your guidance and strive to follow only you. We
2 pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray saying, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Words of Assurance Special Music Ten Thousand Years arr. by Victor C.
