2 I can do all things through him who strengthens me (Phil 4:14) Dear parishioners and friends, The events of this past days certainly has given us an opportunity to grow in our appreciation of our Country and we offer praises and prayers for the new president of the United States. We pray also for all the citizen of this nations: those who may be rejoicing because their candidate won, and those who may feel disappointed because theirs didn t. We ought to remember that we cannot be who we are, a nation that breathes new life by moving and valuing opposition, without accepting that the results of this election. As children of God, we continue to grow as disciples of Jesus as we take our last steps in this Liturgical year. We want to pray in thanksgiving for all the men and women who served in the military; a couple of days ago was Veteran s Day. We want to keep these brothers and sisters in our hearts and prayer especially at this time. We are getting ready for the Christmas Bazaar. It s a busy time at our parish and I d like to thank to all the busy elves for the great work they do. Remember, the Christmas Bazaar is Nov 18 th and 19 th. Mark your calendar. Thanksgiving Day: mass at 8:30AM at Holy Savior Bible School will be off on Nov 17 th and 24 th. Praises for the temple become an occasion for Jesus to talk about the end times. While warning against unintentional fears, Jesus detects the uncertainty people were feeling about the end. Jesus gives a clear warning against listening to those who claim to know when and how this will happen. Events like the destruction of the temple, wars, and natural disasters must not frighten us: they are only telltale signs that everything on earth comes to existence and eventually it ends. But everything is sustained by God s Love. The powers of evil will resort to every trick to discourage the disciples of Jesus, but the Lord's assistance and our perseverance in His Word will be a sure guarantee of salvation. Jesus said, By your perseverance you will save your life. Christian perseverance does not mean resignation, it mimics the long patience exercised by God in the lives of all people; it is the fruit of faith and freedom; It possesses the strength to endure with patience and tenacity in times of trials. This weekend at the 10 AM Mass we will be celebrating a very special Rite with the Candidates and Catechumen! We will celebrate the Rite of Acceptance and Welcome! The Journey of RCIA is beautiful. It is truly an honor to be involved. As you know we meet on Monday nights and explain and discuss our Faith! The RCIA is divided into four stages. The stages are Inquiry, Catechumenate, Purification and Enlightenment and Mystagogy. The right we celebrate this weekend signifies the ending of the Period of Inquiry. The men and women have questioned and prayed and have learned all that was taught and have chosen to move forward. Our job, as their parish family, is to welcome pray for and support them as they make this next step in their journey! You will see them in Mass and at parish functions always feel free to introduce yourself or encourage and welcome them. It is always beautiful when a family welcomes a new member! If you have questions about the Process of RCIA or if you know someone interested in joining the program don t hesitate to call The staff and families of our school recently conducted a drive for the Seton Center in Princess Anne, MD. Items collected included shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes, deodorant along with canned food items. The donated items will be delivered to the Seton Center on November 17th by our Student Council and our school counselor, Mrs. Gabbard. The Seton Center is a ministry of Catholic Charities in our Diocese that serves God s people who are in need in Somerset, Worcester and Wicomico counties. The Center is directed by three Sisters of Charity, (from Convent, Station, N.J.). It has been offering a ministry of care and support for over thirty years. Our school community strives to assist our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the school year. Thank you to Mrs. Gabbard for coordinating this ministerial outreach. In recognition of National Vocations Week, November 6th-12th, our sixth grade students traveled to Holy Cross Catholic School in Dover, DE where they spent the day learning about and reflecting on the vocation to which God may be calling them. They met with and had opportunities to ask questions of members of various religious communities as well as parish priests. We continually pray that our Lord will make His call to vocation known to our students. Again this year, the Home and School Association is sponsoring a YANKEE CANDLE FUNDRAISER. Yankee Candle gives back a 40% return on all products sold!!! It is our pleasure to offer our parish families an opportunity to participate with our school to reach our goal of $10,000!!!!
