3 Guidelines for choosing a speaker for LWML Rally presentations: 1. Choose a speaker already on the Speaker Bureau List which has been approved by the LWML Iowa West District Pastoral Counselors and LWML IWD President. 2. If the speaker is not on the list you may contact the LWML IWD Pastoral Counselors and provide information if the speaker has presented to an LCMS gathering previously and is recommended or endorsed by a local LCMS pastor. 3. Both LWML IWD Pastoral Counselors would be willing to speak at a Rally. 4. We want to choose speakers who will exemplify the mission of LWML. 3

11 I wanted to share that we have approved Lindsey Fitzgerald, a college student in your district one of the Renken Student Scholarships. Lindsey will be on a MOST Water team serving the people of Nicaragua March 28-April 3. One of the requirements of the scholarship is that we let all the presidents know when someone from their districts were awarded one of the scholarships. Most of her teachings are Bible studies, but she can also speak lecture style. Her topics are relevant, humorous and down to earth! Peggy s area of expertise would be the use of God s Word in bringing home a message that can be put into practice and understood by all that hear the presentation. Her fees are usually governed by what the norm is for the group that is seeking her speaking services. Peggy would request travel expenses of mileage and lodging if needed. 12 Cheryl is a retired educator and a passionate advocate for the children of Haiti. She and her husband Larry serve as volunteer coordinators for the ETCH program, a mission outreach of Iowa District West to the children of Haiti. ETCH (Education to Change Haiti) was established to provide school sponsorships for children in need in this desperately poor island country. For $250 per year, a child receives a year of education including tuition, books, uniform, shoes, and backpack. Using a slide show presentation, Cheryl will share information with groups about the work of the Lutheran Leaders in Haiti and how the ETCH program is making a difference one child at a time. 12
