2 PASTOR S MESSAGE: Greetings in Christ: Hello everyone, it s August! Time is flying so fast. We know fall is coming after this summer is gone. I hope everybody stays strong! But before autumn, we are going to host First Responders Sunday on the 13 th, and expect good fellowship with all the First Responders. We always appreciate and respect what they are doing. Let s keep supporting the Police, Firefighters, and the Search and Rescue team in our community. I have been thinking about a little different type of worship service for August. It s not totally different but will focus more on family and youth. I know most of you have been joining in the same type of worship service for many years. It is comfortable for you. Change is hard, because change stretches us out of our comfort zone. Small changes are hard, and big changes are even more difficult, especially for the elderly. However, we do acknowledge that change is necessary if organizations want to continue to improve and grow. Change requires a certain amount of faith. Faith is much easier to believe, and even to preach, than it ever is to live by. The Christian life includes public worship, but the highest form of worship is hearing and doing the Word of God. That is why the ultimate worship book in the Bible, the book of Psalms, begins with emphasizing constant meditation on the Word. The longest Psalm (Psalm 119) makes the point even more emphatically. God seeks those who worship Him in Spirit and in truth. It is hard to worship God in truth if you don t know the truth and if you do not make the truth a priority. Well, at the end of the month of August I am going to go to Palm Spring to attend the Bi-Annual Clergy Convocation. It will be good time to hear from our Bishop about his vision and plan for our annual conference. Please pray for our conference leaders. God bless all of you. Your servant, Rev. Sangman Shin, Pastor BOARD OF TRUSTEES MESSAGE: The Board hopes you are staying cool, and continue to enjoy our beautiful campus. We have been having trouble with vandalism of our sprinklers, Felix had to replace nine of them on the 19 th of July, and the next week another was found knocked over. We have had skateboarders on campus on more than one occasion this month, one group was here from Washington state! Apparently our campus is a featured site somewhere on the internet. If you are driving by and see skateboarders, please contact the Church Office or Pastor Shin so they can be identified and reported to the police. We want to maintain our campus, and need your help in reporting any deficiencies to the Office. Thank you all for your help, and stay out of the sun!

Because it first appears on Oregon s coast, and is seen only in the continental United States, it marks the first such eclipse since Looking at the map, it appears we here in Sierra Madre will see about two-thirds of totality.
