5 Collection of canned goods and non-perishable items for PACS, Jefferson Place and Good Samaritan Shelter Boxes are in the narthex for your donation. Suggested items needed are cereal, juices, pancake mix, soup, peanut butter, jelly, canned meat and fish, cheese spread, Jello, puddings, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and sauce, canned stew or pasta, rice, canned or instant potatoes, vegetables, baked beans, canned or dried fruit, cake and biscuit mixes, napkins, toilet paper, sanitary napkins, towels, tissues, bath or laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste, bleach, cleaning supplies, coffee, tea, creamer, powdered or canned milk, baby food, diapers, talcum powder, lotion, mustard, catsup, vinegar, mayonnaise, salad dressing, oil, syrup, sugar, salt and pepper. 6 From Jack Charles, Organist and Director of Music Ministry Hymn Requests We hope to have the new red hymnal, Evangelical Lutheran Worship ready for use by November 27th (Advent 1). Several more people have given me hymn requests. Only a few were usable for the Advent season but they will be used in 2017, especially in Lent, the Sundays of Easter and for Summer worship. When the new books arrive in the pews, please check out the hymns especially appropriate for Epiphany. They are found from page 301 to page 318 and request them. I'm sure you will find some of your favorites. Seeking Instrumentalists Instrumentalists to accompany hymns, anthems and to play pre-service music add much to our worship. I have volumes of music which ranges from very easy to very complicated, Please contact me if you are interested in playing. I am hoping for both adults and students. Check with your extended family. If they are members at other churches they would be welcome to attend for the one Sunday they play for us. If they are not active in any church this would be a great way for us to share with them the joy of worship at Centennial. Thursday Rehearsals: Bell Choir at 6:15 PM and Chancel Choir 7:30 PM. 7 PRAYER LIST Procedures to request that a name is added to the prayer list are as follows: - Request permission from the individual in need of prayer (as requested by our Synod) - Send an to: Prayers@centenniallutheran.org or Phone: Joanne Cantwell at or Jerene Gladfelter at List the individual s name and BRIEF description of situation (i.e. chemo, dementia, auto accident, comfort and peace, etc.) - Name of requester and association (brother, co-worker, friend, etc.) - Please advise us when a prayer request is no longer valid A new prayer list is issued at the beginning of each month as a bulletin insert. In addition, we have an list of individuals desiring to be on the Prayer Chain to receive these requests. Please update us by the 25th of each month to ensure that your request is listed. If you have not signed up previously and wish to be on the Prayer Chain to receive immediate prayer requests other than those listed monthly, please contact Joanne ( ) or Jerene ( ) with your address or telephone number. 8 ANNOUNCEMENTS Hospitalizations or Pastoral Needs Please notify us if you or a family member is hospitalized and/or in need of a pastoral call or visit. We have no other way of knowing of a hospitalization or a pastoral need. You may contact the church office at or call Pastor Jerry on his cell phone at Craft Festival help needed: Calling all bakers! Pies and other baked goods are needed for the luncheon Jerene Gladfelter and her helpers are planning for the Crafts Festival and for the baked goods table that day. Please sign up on the sheet in the lobby. Decorators are needed to help deck the halls and make it look festive. Decorations are supplied. Please contact the church office if you can help. People are also needed to help arrange tables on Thursday night, November 10. If you can help with this, please see Harry Gladfelter. Grandma s Attic: Please bring in your treasures. If the room is locked, you may leave your items in the hall. Christmas Concert The University of Valley Forge presents Christmas at Valley Forge on December 2 and 3 at Flower Chapel (1401 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville). This will be an evening filled with the joyful sounds of the holiday season, featuring the music ensembles of the University of Valley Forge with holiday favorites and excerpts from Handel s Messiah. Tickets are required and may be purchased at valleyforge.edu/christmas. Warmth for All Share music, food, and warmth with Orion Communities on November 12 from 5-9PM at Kimberton Waldorf School. Enjoy music by Charlie Frey s Blue Plate Specials and refreshments. This is free event but your donations of blankets, coats, and canned goods will be gratefully accepted for Phoenixville area shelters, food cupboards and neighbors in need.
