FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT April 7, :00, 9:30 & 11:00 a.m. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! -Psalm 98:1a AS WE GATHER When sin reigns supreme in our hearts, we are not free. It s as if we are imprisoned and Satan is our jailor. He laughs and jeers at us, reveling in our misery and our fate in his hands. But, when we confess our sins and sincerely repent of them, God will set us free. Jesus sacrifice has atoned for our sins forever. Jesus told us that we just need to believe in Him. God s love for us is so strong and so deep, we cannot fully understand it. All we need to do, though, is believe. Oh, and don t feel shy about sharing your belief with others who don t yet know God s love for them. Just tell them, for that s what Jesus wants us to do, and let the Holy Spirit do the rest. Pastor: Visit, O Lord, the homes in which Your people dwell, and keep all harm and danger far from them. Grant that we may dwell together in peace under the protection of Your holy angels, sharing eternally in Your blessings. Lord, in Your mercy. People: Hear our prayer. 7 Pastor: O father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need, look with favor upon Your servants. Assure them of your mercy and give them patience and comfort in their time of illness. We especially pray for... If it please You, restore them to health or give them grace to accept this time of illness with courage and hope. Lord, in Your mercy. People: Hear our prayer. Pastor: O blessed Jesus, even as You minister to all who are afflicted, look with compassion on those who have lost their health and freedom. We especially pray for those who are suffering from addictions, from mental illness, those who are homebound, and those in prison. We especially pray for Assure them of Your unfailing mercy, remove the fears that attack them, release them from their afflictions, and grant skill, patience, and understanding love to their families and all those who provide care for them. Lord, in Your mercy. People: Hear our prayer. Pastor: Heavenly Father, into whose keeping we entrust our loved ones, help us to look to You in our time of sorrow, remembering the faithful cloud of witnesses with which we are surrounded. Lord, God of hosts, stretch forth Your almighty arm to strengthen and protect those who serve in the armed forces of our country. We praise You for the gift of Your Son, our Savior, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. We thank You for the Holy Spirit, the Comforter; for your holy Church, for the Means of Grace, for the lives of all faithful and just people, and for the hope of the life to come. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My + blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. 15 On Palm Sunday, April 14, at the 8:00 a.m. Service we would like to assemble any children in the Narthex prior to the service so that they can parade into the sanctuary during the opening hymn behind the cross while waving palm branches. 15 On Palm Sunday, April 14, at the 11:00 Service, we will be hosting Open Arms Preschool families and the Preschool Children will be singing three songs that Pastor Mark has been teaching them. We will modify the worship at this service and we will not be having Holy Communion at this service. We would like the congregation and the congregational leaders to be here to meet and greet our guests and help with the Hospitality/Welcome Center. Thank you for your support of Open Arms Preschool, and your partnership in ministering to the preschool families. New Member Class in the planning. Our Spring New Member Class will begin on Sunday May 5 th and end on Sunday June 23 rd, totaling 8 weeks. If anyone is interested in becoming a member or would just like to hear more about what it means to be Christian, or more specifically Lutheran, you are invited to join this class. It s purpose is to make it easier for those with cardiac, respiratory, or other problems to get to the bathrooms at the end of the hall or to make access to any part of the church easier for them. This wheelchair is not to leave church 16

17 property so it is available for anyone who may need it in the building or parking lot area for transport. There is another wheelchair, several walkers, and wheeled walkers in the Medical Lending Closet for the convenience of anyone in the congregation who may need to borrow them for short term use at home. Anyone who has a light weight transport type wheelchair that they would like to donate to the Lending Closet, please see Jean Tichnell.
