1 CONCORDIA LUTHERAN CHURCH 1 THIRD SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY January 27, :00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! -Psalm 98:1a AS WE GATHER (prepared by Jim Gann) Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 ESV When we read or hear God s Word being read it is not enough just to read or listen. We must take into consideration that God speaks directly to us through His Word. We are supposed to take to heart and meditate on what God is saying to us. His Word, as the Psalmist tells us, is perfect, sure, right, pure, true, and righteous. Furthermore, we are told to value His Word more than fine gold. Through His Word we learn about our sinful nature, but more importantly, we learn of His greatness and His forgiveness and grace. Let us praise and thank Him in our corporate and private worship. Through the Holy Spirit, our words will be acceptable to God, though they stumble or fail. 6 APOSTLE'S CREED All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. For the work of our triune God among us and among all people in the Holy Christian Church, that Jesus would be the One upon whom all eyes are fixed and in whom we see all the Scriptures find their fulfillment, let us pray to the Lord. People: Lord Jesus, open our hearts to receive You. Pastor: For the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Means of Grace, that the Lord Jesus would be glorified and His people edified through the faithful teaching and preaching of the Word of God, let us pray to the Lord.
