OK, maybe today isn t your specific birthday, but we can still celebrate. Because of the creative act of the Helper, the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, the Christian church was born on Pentecost Day. Peter s sermon to the thousands became the fundamental theme of the Christian church throughout the ages. The miraculous gift of tongues certainly demonstrated that God desired all people to hear His Word and be included in the new covenant. Turn with joy to those around you in your neighborhood, your workplace and your play spaces and bear witness to them, like the Apostles, of the joy, the forgiveness and the renewal you have received in Christ Jesus. IMPORTANT!! "The last few months, giving to the Loving the Lost Campaign has been declining, and we are falling further behind on our pledge commitment as a congregation. Some of this is due to members moving on, but we have offset that to some extent with income from people that hadn't pledged. - Our original initial gifts and pledges amounted to approximately $506,000. Through the middle of April, total receipts including from non-pledge sources, was approximately $60,000 below the original pledge amount. In addition, we still have $43,000 remaining on our Outreach Center loan. It would be nice to be able to complete the payments on the loan prior to our new Pastor's installation. - Please prayerfully consider where you stand with your commitment." Mission of the Month for May is Fisher House. More info to come. MICAH S BACKPACK Thanks for all the generous food and cash donations that have been provided this school year. Our program at Concordia remains very strong thanks to the involvement of those who donate, and of course to our wonderful Micah s team. The packing and inventory volunteers assure that food items donated go into the hands of our 15 students at Lincolnshire each week. Cash donations allow for special packings during the year and for filling in shelves when we run low on needed items. The last day of school is 6/15. We will gladly accept food items until Sun. 6/3. The pantry will have it s annual deep clean in June and be ready for new donations at the end of summer. Have a great summer! New Sunday Morning Coffee/Fellowship Times - The Fellowship committee has worked out a schedule for providing coffee and fellowship which we hope will accommodate the folks from all three services: On the FIRST Sunday of each month coffee and pastries will be 9:00 9:30 in the fellowship hall. On the THIRD Sunday it will be set up after the 11:00 service. We will see how this schedule works and adjust it as needed. Mailboxes: A continued warm welcome to all of our regular visitors! Concordia serves four states and provides three Worship Services every Sunday in addition to other Ministries and activities. Communication is a challenge! There are enough mailboxes for everyone who desires a mailbox to have one. It is 16

17 our most used form of giving and receiving communication. and Facebook are also used to help inform everyone of activities and events. FOOD FOR THE POOR LUTHERAN COALITION: Don t forget! We continue to collect funds to help serve the poorest of the poor. $2 per week from all our member families would mean $10,000 to help alleviate their tremendous suffering.
