But, don t just listen to the spoken Word. Read and study God s Word yourselves. Meditate and ponder His Word in your hearts. Accept it and believe it as true. Make practical use of the Word of God in your lives. Teach His Word to others so that they will know how to be saved through faith in Christ Jesus and to live as children of God. Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. P: Our help is in the name of the Lord, C: who made heaven and earth. P: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, C: and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. CONFESSION and ABSOLUTION P: O almighty God, merciful Father, C: I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being. 4 ALL: Gracious Lord, You raised up Jesus from the dead as the first born of all who live in You. Grant that we be comforted by His resurrection and look to Him for our own joyful resurrection and eternal life in Your kingdom. Grant us every assurance that as He was raised from the dead and now lives as Lord and King of all, so we will be raised to live under Him in His eternal kingdom without end; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. 5 After the reading: 5 P: This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to You, O Christ. CATECHISM INSTRUCTION The Lord s Prayer Second and Third Petitions ALL: Thy kingdom come P: What does this mean? ALL: The kingdom of God certainly comes by itself without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may come to us also. P: How does God s kingdom come? ALL: God s kingdom comes when our heavenly Father gives us His Holy Spirit, so that by His grace we believe His holy Word and lead godly lives here in time and there in eternity. ALL: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. P: What does this mean? ALL: The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also. P: How is God s will done? ALL: God s will is done when He breaks and hinders every evil plan and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature, which do not want us to hallow God s name or let His kingdom come; and when He strengthens and keeps us firm in His Word and faith until we die. This is His good and gracious will.

Lord God, heavenly Father, we offer before You our common supplications for the well-being of Your Church throughout the world. Guide and govern it by Your Holy Spirit that all who profess themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Send down upon all ministers of the Gospel and upon the congregations committed to their care the healthful spirit of Your grace, that they may please You in all things; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Grant that this heavenly food which we have received will strengthen our faith that we may bear all crosses, sickness, and trials with patience and trust until You grant us deliverance, peace, and health; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. GAME NIGHT WITH PIZZA Dec. 19 Come and enjoy fun, food and fellowship. All are welcome. TOWN HALL MEETING Nov. 30 during the education hour. WORK DAYS FOR DECORATING THE CHURCH AND MAKING WREATHS/ARRANGEMENTS See sign-up sheet on bulletin board. The Youth group is selling fun bonus books. Save hundreds dining at some great restaurants and activities including golf, bowling, theater and movies. We will be selling the books for $32 between services or see a member of the youth group to obtain one. These also make great gifts as the books are good through 2015! 13 NEEDED FOR CCDC CD player compatible for ear jacks (ear phones). 13 CAN DRIVE FUNDRAISER The youth will collect all of your aluminum cans to scrap for a fundraiser to get them to New Orleans for the National Youth Gathering. Start saving them! HOPE FOR GUATEMALA: Don t forget! We continue to collect funds to help our Lutheran brothers and sisters in Guatemala serve the poorest of the poor. About $2 per week from all our member families would mean $10,000 to help alleviate their tremendous suffering. THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS: If you are a Thrivent member and have Choice Dollars available, you can direct them to Concordia! Our plan is to continue gathering these funds to be used to support a mission start in Franklin County, PA. Call for instrumentalists! Concordia would love to have instrumentalists add to our holiday celebrations, accompany the choir or add to our services on special occasions, and as we prepare to begin a third worship service.
